Inevitable after last night. If Brad had got 4 or 6 points from the last two games then it might have been different. I believe managers should get 10-12 games which Brad got and would have been unfair if he got the sack 7 or 8 games in.

Yep....inevitable ....I am sure we will get a load of applicants as usual (maybe Mr Socks for the umpteenth time as well....why does he never get it?).....I cannot help thinking we have been trying to win with a far too inexperienced side...needs a mixture of old heads and youngsters

We will see...just do no need us rudderless for too long

Gary Fiore should get the job. If he wants to sign his own players and pick his own team then he needs to be the manager as nobody credible will work under those conditions.

Good luck to Quinton and his team. I think his biggest mistake was to say that he was aiming for play offs in the summer when he had a budget where only avoiding relegation should have been the honest ambition.

Yes inevitable, he always came over, in the interview, as a good guy who knew his football, and had a record of success etc. But somehow it was never translated into a great team performance on the pitch. Was it due to the budget constraints or the stop / start season, or personality conflicts? Who knows.

The writing was on the wall with all those losses in pre-season.

So now the team need a new arrangement asap

Think its a real shame it didn't work out. Had high hopes based on how he changes things after MG's last stint.

I guess this could mean another whole new XI in the coming weeks.

We look so far away versus other teams in this league.

It might of been a budget thing but never really understood why we didn't try to keep together more of last years squad aside from the loans i.e. Crichlow, James etc considering the turnaround he got from them. Players like Joseph were more consistent than what has come through the door this time around.

Lets hope Fiore's tenure is hours rather than days, As he had input with MG when he was manager, He has no experience managing or coaching mens football.

Still think Brad should have gone a few games ago but at least its happened now. Lets see if the new manager is someone from outside his contacts IE Bromley, ex Bromley or worked for Rondos.

Lets see if the club can be run properly and the best man gets the job, the wrong appointment is just compounding the nonsense this season. I would still have Daisy in 100% for a few months and spend those months getting a manager for next season.

We need a manager who knows his stuff thats for sure not a player starting out in management.

That hardly ever works even if the person is experienced with good contacts. Lets be fair it might work but its messy and a big gamble, Clubs at this level need a good manager and good coaches not lets see if this works.

No good manager would work at a club where the boardroom signs players and tries to pick the team. That's why Fiore should do it. Or else allow a manager to manage with 100% control once he has been delegated a budget.

He is but hes currently in Sidcup due to this Covid stuff.

Chris i heard that GF signed a player and BQ refused to play him, from your post im guessing that may be true then, The weird thing is the kid is a decent signing and has ripped up SCEFL but i agree that owners shouldnt sign players, i disagree that he should be manager.

I would assume he's under contract and can't just do another job. Who knows.

Thats a very good point. The sentiment remains id get a proven manager in at least till the end of the season.

Theres an ex international manager applying so no excuse to go Ryman level or some inexperienced player or coach who fancies being a manager

I dont think it matters, looks like we are going with a lower league manager from the name thats flying about and its been teed up as a few of them were at the game last night. Not nice when you get teed up when youre in a job and others are having meetings for your job lol.

I am genuinely sorry to see Brad go. He was always very helpful to me personally and I wish him and his team all the best in the future. Things didn't work out for him this season for a number of reasons but ultimately the buck stops with the manager.

I was here long before BQ arrived and I will hopefully be here long after he has gone because that is what supporting a team/club is all about.

I just hope that whoever gets the job, and the people running the club, are given time to implement their methods (even if they means yet more personnel changes) before the vultures on here start circling...

Up the Wings!

The people running the club and making decisions have had half a season in charge and we find ourself in our worse position and state as a club in living memory. Its no good blaming Father Christmas.

I said a season or two ago the foundations are poor. Since then weve had a change in the person calling the shots and its got a whole lot worse (on the pitch) with signs off the pitch that they have a sort of a clue. If its terrible on the pitch though thats no good, yay we might get a 3g and a nice new catering facility in the Ryman.

BIG BIG decision next and anything less than a proven Conference South manager and proven Conference South players coming in would be a further step in to the abyss. We need something solid to dig us out of this hole not more lower league signings and management or an inexperienced manager, We need it soon too within the next two games.

We have had some decent managers and players in the last few seasons and we end up getting rid and replacing them with utter dross. We are digging our own hole.

I know big strides are being made off the pitch in many areas but I agree completely that we need a strong first team to drive that and at the moment we don't have that.

I am very interested to know the "decent managers we have had in recent years..."

The only one I can think of is up the road and doing well. However I think it is safe to say that another season of him and the money being spent back then might have meant that we wouldn't have a football club to support today...

The people running the club and making decisions have had half a season in charge - not quite half a season, 11 games and only a few at home
and we find ourself in our worse position and state as a club in living memory - HMRC?

As a club things have improved but obviously not on the pitch this season. I realise there are people out there who don't like MG. I'm fine with that, but to run the existing people down who are running the club seems harsh considering the workload involved and improvements made.

Away from the point in discussion but people forget that Ade Pennock did a fantastic job during his tenure as manager. Last I heard he was managing in the Far East as well

Jamie on a flight to Bangladesh tonight so that's not happening.

Barrie and Barry Hobbins knew what it took to keep a club at this level - always be careful what you wish for.

Three names in one short post above with pedigree, and we are talking about a man who runs a cleaning company by day, and started a football academy on the fly, smelled the money in it and kept going, did a good job of it by all account.......then met a man with a questionable track record in everything and "bought in"/ got a share to pay off debt.

Seriously, when will people smell the coffee.

The club is being mismanaged even now. MG is still involved. Fiore is his mate. He's an equally poor choice to run the football side, albeit he has some better performing businesses......neither make him Jose Mourinho or Jeff Bezos.

BQ was just another whipping boy...........who got lashed in the FA Cup and should have been sacked then.

I said he's be gone by Xmas.....20 days later, he is.

Yes, he should have been punted then. And the one win in 11, bottom of the league vindicates that call. If you chose to live in denial for the last six months, that's your call. For me, Sheppey was all we needed to know.

And now we have MG Pt II in charge.

Let's see how that pans out hmm

I think some people and i'm not including you Gary, have a blind faith as they are involved and dont want to rock the boat and want to show faith.

Some of the things off the pitch have been ok.

Every club has to have a Covid policy and we seem to be doing well with that although we are one of the only clubs to have to isolate more than once due to Covid. They've fixed the roof which was bodged up before, we have a new catering van, is that a franchise or is that the clubs? A tent for people to get a drink, good ideas but not a heavy work load.

I don't see a huge amout of improvements though.

As i said before if you improve a few things off the pitch and go down thats not good. They are in charge of the day to day running of the club on and off the pitch and in 5 1/2 months it hasn't been a success.

From the rumoured new management team you would assume MG has stepped back in to try and help steady the ship.

Exactly what was needed so lets hope the team can now get some wins and off the pitch whoever is in charge can carry out some of the good ideas and make all areas improved.

Commercial, community, foundations etc those would be huge imnprovements and a heavy workload.

If i'm going to dig someone i'll dig them personally i think you know that. I think there are a few who won't criticise the club's officials or will try and hush up or belittle people or be sarcastic to people who do as they are involved or friendly with some officials etc. Its a natural thing some people do is it not?

If it means doing a little job or being a steward or getting a thank you from the club for helping out thats fine and up to them. It doesn't make any of them bad people just objectively its not accurate to defend at all costs and only see good or trivialise inadequacies or any naysayers.

Goldberg got ripped apart by people before and after he was actively involved and since then the team have been a joke, far worse than an MG team, over seen by new people in charge and yet we hear they are jolly nice people and working hard, Well MG was a jolly nice bloke and worked hard he also spunked off thousands of his own money every week trying to put together a team to do well, he still got savaged on here.

This year we seem to be a bit poundland and its all gone a bit Pete Tong yet hardly anyone has shown any dissent towards anyone calling the shots. Its a bit like the carry on film where they are having a meal and getting bombed yet everyone is saying how good the food is and would you like another glass of wine.

A valid response would be well MG walked away and put people in charge without much experience and they've had to do as best as they can. Its not unacceptable to say that you don't feel they've done a great job and are partially responsible for the mess we are in.

Suns out tomorrow its gonna be a lovely day. Up The Wings.

The things I've been impressed by are the women's team, girls teams, deaf team and seeing academy players come through and be part of the club, more than some of the things around the ground. All this is important as part of the community and football club.

That's a valid point to be fair and I look forward to the time where we can air our differences over a pint although I think it will take a fair bit longer than one pint for you and I to agree on all things Welling United!

I don't think I would have to trawl very far back through the archives to find a few examples of you slating MG and everything he was doing (or not doing) at the club. Now he's the best thing since sliced bread and you are his number one cheerleader. How times change....

I am glad you are not a weatherman and I hope the weather is not an omen...?!

Up the Wings!

Yep

On record as saying the things that have happened as many others have done and MG will also tell you I often told him I thought something was a bad decision too when I was at the club rather than say yes mark great idea and I'd love a drink thanks. I'll say good and bad not just what is comfortable to me especially when I'm looking in as a fan.

Good luck with the interviews and media duties given your comments about Tristan on here today and I seem to recall you not being MGs biggest fan. so at least we both say what we feel and aren't two faced.

I'm nobody's cheerleader

I have said recently it's a joke Mark gets slaughtered in here yet is a nice bloke and works hard and pumped thousands in every week yet his replacement overseeing a shiitshow is a jolly nice bloke and had no criticism at all. I find that utterly amazing nothing to do with us having 47 stewards and people being in the know.

I also said before Lovell was named that I would have MG as caretaker as he would bring in players .

I'm delighted we haven't got a pair from the Ryman coming in as we've had enough Ryman players and enough effort to play there already this season.

I'll also add that I have some respect for the DOF walking out if he was over ruled over a new manager.
