Yes I know we have games in hand....quite a lot in some cases but I am feeling now the best for us would be a termination of this season. We appear to be in a bit of a mess right now. With no further funding coming ( loans yes but that is somewhere I would rather we didnt go with our history) it may be better to plan better for next season

Very good point. People have dug me out for saying MG is a disaster and that the previous lot got us into £64k debt.
Thinking about it, the £50K loan in lockdown one, plus some other smaller ones, including £9k that was available in the past month.
Would be surprised if we are not £70-100k in debt by the end of this.
Ending the season won't help, it'll just put players on the dole.
Reading elsewhere about the trident leagues possibly ending and conjecture of this happening in the National League setup. If clubs vote to end the season and furlough players I read that this would cost the government more than paying out a grant rather than a loan. Even knowing this if I were a politician I would still insist on a loan as the perception of giving a grant to 66 football clubs, even though a drop in the ocean, looks bad to the general public when businesses are failing and people loosing jobs. Obviously as a football fan I would opt for a grant so our club can continue to play even if behind closed doors for the rest of the season.

I can't see it happening yet as some clubs have played 15+ games and with covid cases reducing perhaps there's a good chance the season will finish. 2 up from our league and 2 down from the national can be the only outcome as steps below us will be scrapped.
Personally the best for us in my opinion would be to keep playing, improve, see how the new management team do, perhaps even see fans back in grounds for the run-in in late March/April, get out the house, see mates, have a beer, watch football. Might not happen but I don't want to see things terminated just yet if we can manage it financially and there's a chance we can return.
At this level you can be playing and safe or solvent, a grant merely kicks that decision down the road. Football is not the only business in that position.

If there is no relegation and the only funding available is a loan then it would be madness to have much of a budget. I reckon with no leagues below we would still be able to put a decent team out with players just playing for expenses ie. £50-£100 a week.

I tend to agree, Chris, but it's just an 'if' at the moment. I don't think that we'd be the only team doing that either, but is there any point in just going through the motions so that the richer clubs can slug it out at the top?
I believe we should continue to play as often as the situation allows, it would let the management team shake down and develop as a unit; it would also help to maintain the fan base, via streaming; it could also allow some of the academy players to be introduced, perhaps
The situation with respect to promotion / relegation will be of no interest as we will not be affected either way.

I'm sure we wouldn't be the only club doing it. It's a chance for the players to keep themselves fit. Pre season wont start until at least June so that's 6 months without training or match practice.

Looking at the number of games cancelled, there's the damage to people to consider. Lots of cases coming from 50 people meeting up for a game of football, that has no sporting merit as there will be no relegation.
