Does anyone know which way Welling have gone /are going with this? The NL were informed by Tonbridge Angels yesterday at 9pm of their choice of suspending the season. Also Concord have told the league that they will not be competing in any further fixtures until they have more information on Financial Support on the regular testing of players and staff.
Just seen Chelmsford want season to continue. Also hear a good few teams tup North want to carry on. Expect some National would want to continue with the prospect of getting into league 2 and the pittance of tele money from BT. Roll on tomorrow.
I think at the moment it's only a suspension that's been proposed. Not a cancellation of the season.
From what I understand, the league still want to complete the season if the league is suspended.
That's how I understand it too, but it's just delaying the problem. I don't see spectators being allowed in for some time yet so clubs will still need financial assistance and loans are a no go unless clubs want big debts.
I was firmly in favour of pressing on to complete the season, but now Im not so sure.
It would appear that its the clubs that might move up the ladder who are the only ones with a vested interest in carrying on. For clubs like Welling if all that we are doing is to incur big debts to the benefit of clubs at the top of the league, then I think we should pull the plug now.
if fans are allowed back in then there could be a friendly league with 8 or 10 very local clubs, to generate cash and set things up for next season.
If the season is suspended do we still need to pay players? Assuming contracts end if the season does?
If the season is suspended we d have alot of games to squeeze in before we can think about next season.
Taking on any more debt would be foolish, think the majority will vote against that. Only benefits a few clubs chasing promotion.
Although not an option currently but null and void has to be tje best option for welling. Will still have outgoings maintaining the ground etc and no income but presumably no players to find money for each week.
The virus has caused more havoc this time around than the original outbreak. I do not think crowds will be allowed to come into the grounds until at least August. So regrettably I think this season isnt sustainable for clubs of our size. No crowds no income. Its pointless.
Looking at clubs website and twitter they seem to have announced prior to you posting on here. Or are you expecting someone to post how the club voted?
12 clubs from the north released a joint statement recently as well as other clubs from the south and national. So quite a few have updated their supporters. The club do not have too, but seeing we have a history of only allowing "in the know" types this information, a statement couldn't hurt.
Not quite sure what the National are up to? Football with crowds certainly won't be starting in two weeks' time, and I can't see a magic pot of money appearing then either.
Please explain in what way the communication has been very good?
Have we heard whos now in charge of the running of club since Fiore left?
Players coming and going with no notification to fans from the club.
Please take your rose tinted glasses off. Compared to most clubs in the league its poor and its strange you think otherwise
Regular updates with the people who were running the club, pre/post match interviews with the manager and also updates from the Academy people, women's team etc..etc..
We know who's in charge of the club.
If players are coming and going then you are clearly "in the know" as I have seen/heard nothing about that.unless it is on other forms of social media..??
I think that's pretty decent although not sure how it compares to other clubs
The social media teams can only post what they get and do a good job, be it interviews, match reports etc. The interviews were good and allowed fans an insight in what structure was in place and how things were working and future plans.
Since then the club has had big changes in its structure (it seems, as can only guess MG is involved) and player movements, all while clubs are releasing statements on thier positions on how the season should end or continue.
Worth looking up the concord chairman on twitter as an example of a chairman keeping the fans up to date.
Judging by the number of players we have got through this season I would imagine that the majority are non contract. I therefore think that we would not be in as much trouble as some other teams in this league if the season was not null and voided. With Goldberg talking of a core squad of players can anyone provide an up to date list of who is still at the club. Thanks.
When you've had teams in this league have a covid positive in the camp then isolate him but carry on playing then it shows you something needs to be done. How you can allow that is beyond me.
I cannot see how we are in trouble financially this season we had £30,000 a month and a wage bill of about 4 grand. It seems we are nicely in credit this season with a few quid for bills too.

They've done a whole YouTube series, very professional. Although I can't sit through all of it because 10mins of listening to their manager is 9mins 45 seconds too long.

Agreed. The person who listens to Marc White the most is Marc White himself.
I heard some of his post match interview last week after the Trophy defeat at Maidstone and quite frankly it was embarrassing but as he is the chairman/owner/manager/money man and has taken Dorking from pub football to the verge of the National League he pretty much says and does what he wants.

It really is cringe worthy the things he comes out with. But then they've had 11 promotions in 15 years so he's doing something right.
I read an article about him/them a while ago that suggested not a lot of it is his own money, all investors and sponsorship. So will be interesting to see how long they can sustain it for before dropping down a bit.
If the league stops here and points per game is brought in, we go down. There's no way with only 11 games played the league could bring in PPG, can they?????
I could be wrong but i thought it was 50% of games was the threshold
Was there a virtual AGM in the summer? I don't believe that it's in writing anywhere that can be seen by the general public but surely PPG cannot come into effect with just eleven games played.
The other thing to consider is will there be any relegation if the leagues below are terminated? They haven't played sufficient games to promote anyone on PPG although they are proposing deciding promotion by using a PPG average over the two curtailed seasons combined, even if just promoting enough clubs to bring the NLN and NLS up to 24 clubs.
During this two week suspension, it would be good if the National League actually announced a plan so that everyone knows where they stand.
In my opinion, any promotion or relegation this season would be totally artificial and generally unfair.
As it was last season. Webbsfleet were relegated by less than a point on PPG when they were picking up points. One more game and they may well have survived.
