I know a few Charlton fans who have complained to the club about this fixture not taking place. Seems like a few more as well. This is from official CAFC site;
Lifelong Addick Lucy Bishop was appointed as the club's Fan Adviser in early April and in the second of her monthly columns she updates on some of the key points that have come out of her dealings with supporters.
A lot of people have contacted me about the pre-season schedule, particularly the longstanding game against Welling United. The Welling game is one that Ive enjoyed in the past and Ive asked the club about it. What has been explained is that due to congested diaries for both clubs, we wont be making the short trip to Park View Road this summer. However, I know that both Charlton and Welling are keen to get the fixture back on the list next year, or even before if an international break during the season allows.

See the fixture has been hastily arranged for Tuesday.
Season Tickets not valid?
Probably the pre season friendly that has been the curtain raiser for supporters for many years and included within their season ticket. Yet the club seems to want to repay any remaining loyalty with its supporters who have been there through think and thin by screwing them for an extra £15.
Yep help us out, volunteer, put money in to boost the budget etc. The club must look and realise that this cuts both ways in terms of hard times. Many supporters will have been furloughed etc and will be struggling financially yet are being asked to put their hands in their pockets further. The option is dont go but this isnt the point.
Many people will not have had last seasons ticket rolled over and are probably grateful for that yet the clubs ability to shoot itself in the foot with its supporters appears. " Wings Family" I would say is nearer to the divorce courts over this one.
By the way as I haven't seen it drawn to anyone's attention anywhere else The Gills fixture seems to be a 1pm kick off
For what it's worth I have raised this with the club saying how poor I think this decision is.
While I understand the need to maximise revenue after the last 18 months, to ask Welling fans who have purchased season tickets to pay out further for a game that is always included within their season ticket every year is plain wrong in my opinion.
As one supporter said to me yesterday, the club are trying to gain a few hundred pounds by not allowing season ticket holders entry, but it will be some of those fans travelling round the country and standing at PVR on a wet Saturday in November that they are rewarding with their loyalty of buying a season ticket by asking for more money.
The club cannot use slogans on social media of #allinthistogether and then do something like this. Very wrong.

Awful to ask ST holders to pay. Placing more value on a couple of grand maximum than giving a concession that's always been there . With the timing of Covid as well that's not great.
The club have had grants and are operating on a tiny budget so there's no reason to treat ST holders like this.
Hopefully they change their mind but im guessing it's probably come from the accountant as all financial stuff comes via him , a man who used to be a ST holder himself.

Completely agree. As as season ticket holder for 19 years this has really got my goat. Will I still buy tickets for it yes; will it leave a sour taste in my mouth - certainly.
Im not sure how many season ticket holders would go anyway at quite short notice. Which makes the case for season ticket holders having to pay even more unbelievable. Hopefully getting put right though.
When I bought my "early bird", it stated it included the games against Gillingham, Arsenal Under 23 and Bromley. On the printed copy it also states that it starts on 10th July at 13:00 BST
I don't know if the same applies for season tickets bought after the "early bird" offer expired.

Thank you for the response. I also purchased the early bird, but the online version and it didn't include that information.

It is a 1pm kick off. I haven't seen it advertised as anything but that.
Your probably right Mark, but tradition says to me that football at this level on a Saturday is a 3pm ko. unless say Easter or Christmas. A gentle reminder on somewhere like social media wouldn't go amiss. I also wouldn't mind betting that someone will also turn up at 3pm for a match that has already finished
Rather than the rights/wrong of asking season ticket holders to pay or the cheek of it, perhaps think how if they are desperate before the season has started what are they going to be like during it?
Charlton fans pay for that game, it's a tidy sum and easily subsidised ST holders. Such short-sighted decision making.
Again though where is our business sense and knowledge .
Simple, if we set the live stream up and charged 7.50 Charlton fans would be paying us and we would be generating more income, vital Income.
All you can do is sigh. It's not rocket science and we streamed ok last season even if the filming was utter toss by film my match the streams were usually solid from 247.
So much good work from Matt and then we miss open goals or screw up
Few things. What is a trailist? Why is it a different price to advertise on the left side from the right? And if its my first game for however long and just a casua fan who am I ment to contact about advertising?
