3-3 appears to be a better result against a mix of Gills 1st team and youth players

Again...any stand out triallists?...or players we know that have returned

Many there at the game?

Olu and Dipo played very well. I thought the number 6 and his centre half partner in the second half looked quite sharp. Also like the look of Aaron Barnes at right back.

Pretty impressed so early on with lots  new faces. Illic was also good first half.

Great to be back and some impressive performances.

it would have been good to have some sort of team sheet to know who was who.

they also need a word with the catering, being told to wait 15 minutes for a burger is not on, and a fish bar (with no customers) that doesnt even serve a cup of tea  is disappointing.

but we looked good, particularly recalling some of the poor performances of the last pre-friendliest I watched.

I would not get carried away but today was a competent performence which I am sure can be built upon. The players which we know were competent and those we didnt showed promise. The defence in the 1st half was at times unpredictable but it is early days. Dippo took his goals well and lets hope some firepower can be developed in unison. Looked much better than PSF last year and it will be interesting to see what the management team are allowed to do from now on. Although, I should hazard a guess, that the squad will be formed from what we saw today.

The fish bar won't last long in a football ground Burger van not having food ready is poor . Probably new to this and just see it as the golden goose or being ruthless with margins at the cost of customer service

All you can expect or demand on the pitch this year is competent . We have a Ryman league budget and some SCEFL clubs have a bigger budget. Our management will get them fit and organised to be competitive with mid table.

A season of mid table obscurity would be just the job after a few seasons of trying to get relegated from the worst league we've played in for 40 years.

Let's hope this season were training twice a week and the players get coaches to away games rather than the club acting like raggy arse rovers and cutting corners as stuff like that sets standards that the players drop to and you get inconsistent or poor performances.

Bring on a safe 12th position and a few wins in cups.

I dont think it's the worst league we've played in in 40 years. The clubs have all got more professional off the pitch and those that haven't or those that are based in more provincial areas have gone down. MG has improved a few things like the bar but has nt really sufficiently improved on 30 years of treading water.

Dipo scored a great goal yesterday, keeping him is a massive coup for the management. If we can keep his confidence up he can score 15-20 goals and get a move to a pro side. It's a shame it was n't filmed, let's hope the club get that sorted.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday regarding the performance of most of the players. Whether the management can get a tune out of the eventual squad week in week out remains to be seen. I presume that a lot of the trialists will be trialing at other clubs from our level too. So the good ones will not necessarily end up playing for Welling Utd. COYW.

PS. COME ON ENGLAND!!!

The fish bar is infact the seafood stall mentioned on a previous thread having relocated from next door due to the Guy becoming a restaurant pub. It is an added bonus for fans on matchdays as it has a good following among its regular customers. I agree 15 minute wait for a burger is excessive but we do not know why. I would rather wait than eat the muck that was served by the previous franchise. Before, I know they sometimes started cooking burgers at 12 and put them in a hot container waiting for gates to open at 1.30 at least the current food is fresh.

I see that Gills have had to cancel their friendly with Dirtford tomorrow as a few first team players tested positive yesterday morning less than 24hrs after our game. Hope this doesnt affect our game against CAFC in any way.
