What an awful season we are about to see end tomorrow afternoon.
At least a few beers and no worry about relegation but it only now seems we are starting to put in performances. Under Lovell it was awful with an average 3 goals conceded per game (not including or forgetting the FA Cup match), Taylor was conceding 1.9 goals per game so starting a game knowing you have to score 2 or 3 times for a win meant relegation was bang on the cards. I really had hope for Taylor as there were a few improvements - Chippenham away and a bit of run early on but our form towards the end of his reign was terrible. I still can't forget how lamely we lost and got thrashed to St Albans, Dartford, Ebbsfleet, Maidstone away etc.
Feeney - came into a sunk ship, never mind sinking ship. Better performances, more goals scored, a better win percentage and better points average. Could argue he had the better players but he still had it all to do. The Maidstone win and Havant home performance were the best matches I've seen this season.
Although this season has been one to forget it's only right for a player of the year to get recognised (albeit in an away clubhouse!). Without our best player, we were down.
First time in all my years at Welling I am actually looking forward to the end at 4.50pm tomorrow. Let's hope the club learns from this season and make us all look forward to next one.
Has it really been that awful? It was obvious from pre season that we were in a relegation battle. Billericay were no pushovers and kept fighting to the end and there were a few others in real trouble. Personally I've really enjoyed attending the home games this season after last years covid hit season.

I have to agree the season has been shocking. But this is the first season myself and my son have gone to more away than home games. The atmosphere away is always a bit more special in my opinion. Dont tell the wife but I might actually buy a season ticket
For me yes. Smashed away at Ebbsfleet, Dartford, Maidstone. Smashed at home against Ebbsfleet and even worse Dartford. Poor defeats and performances against lesser teams like Hemel, Hampton etc. Manager changes, low budgets, poor pitch, bar running out of beer, terrace crumbling. The list goes on.
As Ive said before this is the first season i have walked out of games - several times. Very early.
However, I will enjoy tomorrow, I will return and I do think better times are ahead. Might have walked away from games this season but not walking away from the club.
I only managed 5 games this season (by chance seeing all 3 managers and lucky to see 2 wins and an unbelievable 3-3 draw), probably the lowest amount in 25 years, when I was a kid with no money. Hasn't stopped me following every tweet, post or radio show though.
Whilst relieved and surprised we stayed up, I really don't get a feel for where we are anymore. Are we a club with better fortunes? No idea, new investors or directors have not been introduced. Is Warren here for next season? Assume so? Are we likely to see a whole new 16 players next season? I guess! I was buoyed by Cookies interview about operations so I have that to keep me (stupidly) optimistic about ground improvements - PVR looks so sad right now.
Well I went to zero games....a mixture of a very bad back...covid and to be honest apathy ....it was hard to convince myself to drive 150 miles to watch a near guaranteed loss!
However have read, watched, listened from afar (thanks Nigel and Danson) and it wasn't pleasant reading a lot of the time
We seem to have a bit of a change regarding people at the top but the proof of the pudding....etcetc
First thing is the team...Get Warren over the line or get someone new in quickly. Build a team that have actually met each other before the first game
Secondly...PVR ....the pitch looks awful and I hear the infrastructure is falling apart even more....needs sorting in limited time
Have we got the money for both....who knows?
We live to fight again...but for how much longer in National South?
Personally im looking forward to the break, it seems like the season has been going forever (probably because the two previous seasons finished early) there's been plenty of lows but a some high points as well. I actually spoke to MG in the bar after Maidstone and said to him that "although we're all ecstatic now n cuddling each other on the pitch n in in bar having escaped relegation, we have had a massive wake up call and CAN'T be in this situation again. Hopefully they'll be a season review thread on here when I can put exactly my own feelings of this season 21-22 ,im delighted for Warren as he came in led us to safety which hasn't been easy for him as he doesn't live in this country. Ive spoken to various people that have recently come into the club at and have expressed that over the summer there will be announcements/interviews on Radio Wing's as to what's happening, hopefully that will definitely happen. Personally I love this club, the people involved on a day to day and supporters have become good friends to me and I think that's why I was emotional after Maidstone, to see the sheer delight on people's faces after is something ill never forget. Anyway back to today, let's hope the team put in a decent performance and then we can have a few drinks in the bar after then enjoy the break and recharge for pre season in July
A very poor season, but NOT one to forget - we need to learn and understand from the mistakes, not forget them.
First up the manager and basic team needs to be sorted now, not wait until the pre-season games and then have a fast revolving door of trialists. Im assuming that Warren will not want to stay living in the hotel so his replacement is a priority. Then the team, if we wait (yet again) and use the first 10 matches to trial things well be in trouble. As for the ground, finances dictate what can be done but lets do what we can to a good standard and not just try and patch and repair everything.
we start with a clean sheet, a few painful memories of this season, and a small but very loyal fan base.
