If we get past Aldershot Town tomorrow, we would play Leiston at home on 14th January.

Well that was never happening! 3-0 and out with a whimper, not torn apart and probably deserved a goal, but Feeney just does not get the players going, it is all very much just going through the motions. No player puts themselves out for Feeney. Aldershot were the better team, but nothing special. A Welling team playing with pride and passion would have got more out of the game.

Well tonight shown that he has completely lost the team.
When substituted the captain (Dunne) grabbed his coat and just stormed off down the tunnel.
And WTF bringing on a defender in time added on?
All I can think is that with his history with gambling, Feeney lumped on 3-0 when we was 2-0 down.

Shame really as the first half was pretty even
There is no confidence in the side as was proven by the young Orient loaner when one on one with the keeper and a chance to level.
After that missed opportunity, there was only going to be one winner.

Nice ground though.

First half was a decent contest. For 25 minutes we pressed them well, forced mistakes and had some good build up play without really threatening their goal. As the half wore on Aldershot improved but we defended well without any real alarms.

Second half however was a different story. From the outset we seemed to drop 10 yards deeper and conceded possession and territory. We were bullied from start to finish all over the pitch. Aldershot looked half decent but we never laid a glove on them after half time. Don't let two late goals fool anyone either...had they been more clinical it could easily have been five or six in the second half alone. For me only Maloney, Kassarate, Ezzenolim and young Nkrumah played anything near what they are capable off.

And then I get home and find out, and I quote, "we took the game to them for 70-75 minutes..." At best that is fantasy....at worst it's absolute rubbish. I doubt ANY Welling fan there yesterday saw it like that either and this one certainly didn't...!!

Out of the current context 3-0 to a higher level team. It is what it is and i wouldnt call for the managers head. However, the reality of continued poor performances, questionable actions and reading into player behaviour, one win in what...16 games is it? Repeated dross interviews with the manager who recycles the same content regardless of who we are or have played. It's clear to everyone he's race is run. Surely the board see it the same? What is keeping him here?

Why is this fantasist still Manager of our Club?

The Board have lost the plot and are sitting on their hands - soon they'll lose the support and all the promsing work off the pitch will amount to nothing.

The whole situation is contradictory. On the one hand we need stability after years of too much constant change, so changing manager sounds like yet more unwanted change. But performances deteriorated so much one starts to wonder the value of sticking with a manager, with just loyalty to that manager as the only remaining justification. But there is another major consideration, that these days there increasingly seems to be a cancel culture of people trying to drive someone out of a position, and unreasonably taking someone's livelihood away is one of the worst things one can do to someone, so one has to be absolutely sure that such an action is justified before considering it.

Someone recently said football will find you out, and I love that, it is so concise and true. So Warren has many weaknesses as a manager that won't be apparent when things go well. So when we had our great start he looked the business as a manager. But unfortunately he has too poor a mentality to be a top manager. The losses and his responses - or rather his lack of responsibility to change things - show he can't cope with things when they go against him, so neither do his teams, and that is his undoing in job after job, when he goes on losing runs, doesn't know how to turn them round, and gets sacked. He can't handle the pressures of managing.

His poor man management screaming angrily at his players poor game after poor game won't improve things. His arrogance in not valuing others' views also is a fatal weakness in his mentality, as he can't handle criticism, so just shuts his eyes and ears to it, which is why he just trots out "I was disappointed with the players" interview time and time again, but does not have the humility to realise his own poor mentality is the problem, and never learns from his mistakes, so keeps making them. I've worked for over 40 years, and have seen tons of people like him, they always end up the same way, always blaming others, never themselves.

Let's not forget how poor the recruitment has been, some people involved sit in the background having not taking any criticism for mistakes they have made, but then that's another reason we should of got someone in early who knows our level and knows the players around for the money we've spent.

For all that has been said over the last few weeks it must be evident to anyone with a reasonable grasp of affairs that unless something drastic happens soon, either on or off the pitch, we are sleepwalking towards relegation. I couldn't care less about what position we were in last year compared to now or what potential there is within the side. We are in the here and now and the here and now is just not good enough.

I was thinking the other day about this side of our problems, and concluded I was confused, and needed the advice of the forum. My problem is I saw Peter Taylor's side, Warren's rebuilt side last season, and Warren's rebuilt team this season. Whereas most fans here have seen the team much longer, seen many more versions of Welling United teams than me, so have much more context than me on how good or bad this current team actually is.

Personally I think we have got some really top quality players, particularly Myles, Aaron, Chi, Taylor M, Ade, Stefan (when he behaves himself!) Sam, Rob, Manny, Kasim, and Cameron. Warren's shortcomings as a manager are increasingly obvious, but how much is down to poor recruitment or players? Our pre-season and great run up to the end of September showed ability, so in the more experienced fans eyes, what has gone wrong with the players and recruitment as the season has gone on?

In the same way Warren has not responded properly when things go badly in matches, the same could be said of the players too. That determination to fight back when things go against one and to help ones mates in the team seems a bit lacking, which is a concern if we look to build a longer term squad and keep players for next season. So we need to quickly fix things right this season, as we dont want to end up a sunk ship that no decent players want to stay on, or re-sign players that lack heart. Looking at our results, and those of teams below us, we are sleepwalking to relegation, and already out of the big cups.

Steve King was bizarrely sacked after getting us to a play off spot, then got Dartford into a play off spot, his results at Gloucester have deteriorated, maybe due to injuries, but if he becomes available he could finish his unfinished business with Welling. Sadly I am still unavailable, as I am still waiting for that overdue call from Anfield! But seriously, I know fans have concerns King exceeds his budget, but he says he sticks within it, and fans say his football was great to watch, which I would like to see after months of long ball.
