I was interested to hear comments from Warren in the preview of Saturday's match about "having our own academy".
I wonder if Fast Track Soccer could be what he was referring to. There's a stellar line up of staff listed on the website - Tristan Lewis, Simon Walton, Warren Feeney himself and one Mark Goldberg (who appears to be the sole director).
I suppose there could be a link but Im guessing a proper academy needs to cover all age ranges. Not sure what is going on with the academy that was already in place? Maybe the club needs to put out a statement or get an interview up?
Whatever is going on, this shouldn't be happening. Mr fiore is still listed as a board member. For all that looks good being done on outside it seems inside the club is in a time loop of inside arguing and toxicity.
Club will not go anywhere if this continues no matter how hard the odd few try.
I'm guessing it all relates to the original post and that Mr Whiteheads chairman column in the program stating that boardroom changes will be announced when finalised will then confirm it.
I speak to the chairman nearly everyday, we have spoken this morning and he's said that this "Fast track" thing is absolutely nothing to do with the club

Whether they are or not doesn't bother me to be honest. Fiore has been a common denominator of problems regarding the academy issue, then when he don't get what he wants it's throw the toys out pram time.
Now even the academy twitter is re tweeting tweets about how the manager shouldn't be there. It's pathetic.
I'm sick and tired of hearing so much BS about our academy. There is no such thing as a 'pathway'. Players find their level and their club which is usually driven by money. A boy could play for us from U6s to U18s but if there is a lad at 18 who has been released by Charlton but is better than our 'one club man' junior that it is he who will step in to our first team. Thats Football.
By all means we aren't the only team that do this. But if we were able to I'd like to see the owners of the club take a break from having an academy and look to rebuild the ground and grow the support base.

Yeah great idea! All those kids that turn up with their family generating revenue for the club, bin them off with the 3 directors that run it! This year was supposed to be showing the talent the club had coming through after losing out on previous years! one common denominator here and hes lost the players and most supporters as well! With also bringing that sun tanned leprechaun back onto the scene!!

Would never happen, they are a money pot. 100s of kids/ parents being sold a dream they pay £60 (roughly) a year then another £50 (roughly) a month plus funding from lottery or fa etc.
Makes you wonder (not) what the people moaning real intentions are don't it.

Where are they then? Lets just give free tickets out to local schools and community groups.

Lots of clubs are doing this sort of thing, but signing up parents to "soccer camps" often in Spain or Portugal. Everyone wins, the parents get a holiday the kids get to believe they are gonna be a pro and the academy makes a bit of money. But this website looks terrible. Whoever parts with cash to that outfit can't even expect to see their kid play for E&B let alone anyone half decent.
The whole thing looks like a total conflict of interests, if the players in this so called Fast Track Soccer are being directed towards Welling, fine. If not, why are Welling figures developing players for other teams?
Identifying talent early on is a fine art. I used to be involved in the Charlton youth set up, and they ran holiday football for kids up to 12. I naively asked why didn't they want kids older than that at the holiday camps, and was told the camps were more or less Charlton scouting sessions, who would try to tap up the best kids, and that if kids weren't already good by 12 there was little chance of them making it, so they weren't interested in older kids.
With this in mind, diplomatically as ever, setting up a set up to attract and develop 16 - 19 year olds raises doubts. i.e. if they are good, they'd already have been spotted elsewhere. But as astute guys say, it is selling the dream.

Not all players in non-league have ever been in a pyramid level academy, and some might have been and need a way back in. The 16-19 year also need less safeguarding, making it all easier to do....just one of many reasons (also they will have their own money, kids of 12 dont' ahve their own money to spend!!!)
Many years back my son was so called scouted by someone watching park football on a Sunday. Got given loads of information including glossy brochure on how good this company was and how they get youngsters into professional clubs in UK and abroad. I had a word with Barrie Hobbins who told me he had never heard of them but they could be ok. Next step they offered son chance to play for a US club. Only drawback was nowt was guaranteed and company wanted £2500 upfront fee. Needless to say their services were dispatched ASAP.

When I met Sean Daley when I was doing some coach training, who at the time was the head of youth at Charlton, who has now moved on to Millwall, I asked him what were the most important qualities a player needs to make it. I wrote down what he said, as I really valued his opinion, as Charlton had such a track record of developing players, and mentally checked against this list when I was looking at players wanting to join my team. It was literally off the top of his head, no time to carefully think, but is so spot on. He also said to me something I remember, maybe point 8, that players need to have something about their game that makes them stand out from others, ie dribbling, free kicks, whatever. The proof is one cant be a top player if even one of these is missing. In our matches we make mistakes, the opposition dont make the kind of basic mistakes we so often make, and that is points 1, 4, 7.
The 7 Key Abilities Needed for Football.
1. Technical skill (most important part of football).
