Seen a facebook post and there is a friendly on Monday at 6.30 against USA based Soccer Universities. Club shop will be opening at about 5.30 but may close early depending on attendance and if Smudge gets cold.

Note game is free to all supporters but you are asked to book tickets online according to the post.

We will probably get a few of them on loan following that.

An interesting match as a glimpse of the future, as I watched it streamed live on YouTube, and it was really intriguing to watch a whole live streamed Welling match, as live streaming is being introduced to our League, so this was a glimpse of the future. The match has already had 1,200 views, whereas there was a much lower attendance at the ground last night, so streaming can reach a wider audience. We are linking with the US and Ireland, so watching our games will interest wider audiences there than just our part of South London and immediate areas. And playing for us in streamed games puts players on a larger platform to display their talents, so improves the quality we attract.

The match was a fine performance by us, probably the most one sided game I have seen, we must have had 90% possession, as when they had the ball we immediately got it ball back. We didnt put out a settled team, just a few first team players and tons of triallists, but we looked hungry to do well, really pressing up the pitch very well, quickly tackling, and getting lots of players to support attacks, so I just wish our regular first team played like that. But the opponents weren't great, so it gave us the opportunity to play this way. But despite that, a perfect game, great in attack, midfield, defence, created tons of "moments".

A way to guage just how overly defensively we normally play is to see how many (few!) players we have in the opponents half of the pitch. I always look at the half way line to see how many are in their half. I think because of a gradual creeping in of a lack of confidence we have gradually dropped further and further back. So in recent games many times we have no one or just one, in their half, so no wonder we dont score more. Yesterday's game shows what a difference it makes to play on the front foot, rather than the back foot, so hopefully that positive approach continues for us. We've only got 9 home league games left this season, so the season is drawing to an end, it has been an odd one, highs and lows, and as I mentioned once before, we have a nasty set of final fixtures, so I just want us to get to safety asap!!!
