With our place in next seasons NLS seemingly safe its interesting to take note of some possible opponents for 23/24.
From a purely selfish perspective as an exiled South West Wing next season looks positively gushing with fixtures. Weston super Mare look certain to gain promotion from Southern Premier together with possibly Truro or Poole Town, although having watched a few games in that Division this year Bracknell Town are also strong contenders for play off success. With Yeovil doing their best to get relegated together with possibly Torquay Utd or Aldershot from the National League, all that is needed is for Weymouth to somehow survive in our Division and the alternative "jolly boys outings" to the West Country are numerous. Taunton appear to be safe so add that one to the list!
Happy days.

If 3 Southern teams come down am guessing Oxford will move to Conference North unless they get promoted then god knows who will be shafted HH or St Albans maybe as both sit on the M1
I know I should be positive but next season in my opinion will be a struggle for the smaller teams in the NLS. Maidstone are relegated and it looks like (as said above) 2 of Yeovil, Torquay, Aldershot and Dorking will join them. I would expect all these clubs be spending a decent amount of money to attract players. Play off clubs currently in NLS include Dartford, Oxford City, Chelmsford and Worthing. If these clubs stay with us then I can see also spending a fair few quid as well. In addition I understand Dulwich Hamlet are to go full time. With the exception of Weymouth the teams currently in relegation positions are possibly the smallest teams in the league. Depending on who come up the smallest teams left would be Braintree (if not promoted or sent North), Hampton, Chippenham and Welling. I wonder how, without serious cash injection, clubs like ours will be able to attract quality to compete in the league.
I hope I am wrong but next season will be the toughest yet in the National South since it was formed.

Is next season National League South 24 teams again?
This season 4 teams were relegated out of 24, which was actually quite a high proportion relegated. Will it be 4 relegated next season too?
24 in each of the 3 national leagues until further notice unless they decide on another reorganisation. Who knows one day we might get an national mid as a buffer between north and south.

Yes. It will remain like this until someone gets paid a fortune to come up with another reorganisation.
To be fair I think the reorganisation of non league has been brilliant. When we came down from the Conference on 2000 there were 3 feeder leagues that you needed to win to get promotion. That meant lots of teams had nothing to play for at the end of the season. And the introduction of the 6 team play off has improved that aspect of the season even further but also gives an advantage to the sides who have finished 2nd and 3rd.

Knowing this now, the bottom 4 going down next season is worrying from a Welling perspective. The bottom 4 relegated this season look likely to be Cheshunt, Weymouth, Hungerford and Concord. So once they are gone, the next 4 lowest teams left, likely to be in a relegation scrap unless there is lots of improvement next season, are Slough, Dover, Dulwich and us. Though it is too early to know how good the promoted and relegated teams joining the division next season will be. But of the remaining teams we are one of the worst at present, so big improvement is needed next season to avoid a 4th relegation battle in a row.
Last season Warren got 11 points from 10 games, 1 more point than games played. This season we got 49 points from 43 games, so 6 more points than games played, a very small improvement over last season of 5 points, or 6 if you add the deducted point back on, but still not a big step forward either way. Last season we were only safe from relegation with 1 game to go, this season safe with 3 games to go, but not so promising for a much higher place next season.
Slough have money problems, Dover have had two bad seasons in a row, we've had three with a small improvement this season, Dulwich will probably do much better next season, as will Maidstone. But you are right about Braintree and Chelmsford improving a lot on last season, Chelmsford have been my longstanding play off choice, as they are consistent and solid. I just hope the promoted teams are below par, as two promoted teams went back down this season, hopefully from the Welling point of view some of the promoted teams go back down again next season.
It is great we have a pre-season game against Charlton, as we need those sort of harder pre season games to get an early clear idea of what our team is like next season and give a tougher test to trialists.
My main concern at the moment and especially for next season is to try and convince the recently stepped down Chairman to reconsider and be part of the club's future

Stepped down? That should have a sky sports breaking news banner underneath it....
Very sad if true, but also very understandable. I hope Paul remains part of the club in some capacity.
We can welcome Maidstone,Yeovil, Weston and Bishops Stortford to the league so far. Bye for now to Weymouth and Hungerford. Concord and Cheshunt still have a chance.

We haven't really made progress on or off the pitch this season, attendances have gone back to last season's levels, and it is rather worrying to see how our 500 core matches compares with other teams around, as we are an established club, one of the highest league teams in such a populated area, so should be well into 4 figure attendances: Kent Non League Attendance Stats@kentstats Apr 15 Saturdays highest attendances in Kent
The way a team finishes a season often gives an indication of what next season will be like. Our league and cup results from February onwards are P20 W4 D7 L 9, so there is not a promising end of season to suggest next season will be better. There has not been the improvement that was claimed would happen as the season went on, quite the reverse.
Hopefully they win a few more and send Dulwich down.
I would rather loose the stench of Concord than the MCWs of Dulwich. Far easier for our fans to get there by public transport. Good real ale and decent pies plus no sewage farm.

Poole v Bracknell in the Southern league play off final
I think you'll find it's Truro or Bracknell.
So with one of those two, Aveley or Hornchurch, Bishops Stortford and Weston-super-Mare up plus Yeovil, Maidstone and almost certainly Torquay down that's seven arrivals and only six departures so, as mentioned elsewhere, someone will have to move North. From previous seasons it would look like Stortford or maybe Oxford (if they don't go up via the play offs of course)
So my initial prediction of a couple of weeks ago is looking pretty accurate! Although if Bracknell beat Truro, which on current form seems likely, will that be another new ground for the Wings faithful to visit?
Meanwhile Weymouth still fighting and if tonights fixture between Concorde and H and W goes their way a victory on Saturday v Le French will see them survive and another South West fixture!
Whoever moves north will be hoping the season matches this .Everyone has played 45 games and Darlington in 13th can finish in the play offs still. Only Chester in 3rd have nothing to play for .
tonight Concord lost 3-4 to Havant. So no trip to the sewage farm next season. To get into playoffs Havant will need to beat us by 7 goals and stale buns mustnt score on Saturday.

Havant need St Albans to lose and better their goal difference by 6 goals. So if Stale Buns lose by one goal then a win by five goals will see the Hawks make the play offs.
