Following the Ebbsfleet game at 5.30 we will be holding a low key presentation of trophies. Hopefully this will take place on the pitch in front of the main stand. If weather is bad then in one of the bars.

For those unable to attend I will post winners on this forum some time after 6.30 on Saturday.

Last season Dipo was by miles our most influential player, but this season in my view we have had a keeper, defender, midfielder and striker anyone of which would be a totally deserving Player of the Season, and I will be interested to see who is chosen, as I can't predict the winner at all. Word on the street is that a bet happy defender has backed Jay Simpson to be the winner!

I have a soft spot for this team, as they are hard working, with some real quality in the squad, and just let down by unfocussed coaching that does not fix the areas that need to be fixed, so doesn't let the players show their quality more consistently. So well done to whoever wins, it will be deserved in a difficult season.

Well done for doing this award at a home match, I remember last season it was at an away match, and I thought that was a shame as not many fans would be there, so a home match is ideal.

Be more chance of a few being there if this was to happen straight after the final whistle. Only the beer drinkers (if there's any available?) are likely to hang around for "a low key presentation". My game is already over for this/maybe next season too if WF still in charge, so apologies for my absence.

It is a shame that this is after the Ebbsfleet game, as it is ever so slightly possible they may beat us, but then that is just the way the fixture list has gone.

In the same way this has largely been a thankless season for us fans, it will have been a bit of a thankless slog for the players, not too many highs to compensate for lots of lows. There was a dodgy short spell midseason when their heads dropped when they let in a goal, but since then they have always put in max effort, so I will go along to thank them for that. Just to put that in context, I used to watch lots of West Ham games, then saw a home game when we lost 2 - 4 at home to Birmingham, and it was so pathetic, the West Ham players weren't even trying, and I stopped going. That is why I like Welling, even under Peter Taylor the players were doing their best, and I would rather watch players doing their best than watch players not even trying.

Polo made me smile, as I had a word with Matt at a recent match, and Polo was beside him, so I said to Polo, "I'm Johnny Hartley", and he said he knew, so he must have remembered my never ending question at meet the manager, and spotted this new fan just had to be Rambling Johnny Hartley. So if at the presentation you spot an aged fan in glasses accompanied by an 11 year old son in glasses, congratulations, you have just spotted me! Wallop, Alan, Jamison, bexleylion, Odin et all, feel free to say hi or not as the case may be, as I am suffering from Feeneyitis, so will Exodus after Tuesday's home game against Hampton until it is safe to return. Hopefully I can have a quick word with the owners there, as the whole club comms are madness, not talking about all the important things that actually need to be talked about, so I just want to understand directly from them what the hell is going on with this club.

The last sentence of this post is sensible and pertinent.

Warren was always too narrowminded about his players' positions, wasting potential, but maybe he finally learned to be more experimental to find out their strengths. A good player can play in any position, so midfielders Amadou and Antony played really well in defence, striker Stefan played really well in midfield, Manny and James adjusted to different roles. This is why I would like to see most players back next season, as they have the necessary quality, just need to be played more creatively in their most suitable positions, which for many didn't happen this season.

I was delighted fans are so appreciative of Chi. After the shocking way he has been treated I would be surprised if Chi wanted to stay for another season of Warren, but Chi has such all round skill he could end up wing, central midfield, striker. Unfortunately our blind manager can't see any of this as he just thinks Chi is an inconsistent defender. So it is sad Chi will likely have to move to get a manager who lets him play to his strengths of running with the ball and taking people on to assist in attacks or have shots.

Ade always impressed me in the just completed season. I knew he would be in high demand after scoring a career high in a season of 11 goals, for Dartford. Like many players he fell out of love with the game after injury, but joined us as he is so hardworking, so was drawn to us as we train a lot. Him and Chi were the hardest working players, and I loved watching Ade closing down defending from the front, happy to drop back and help defend, instead of just selfishly staying up in attack. It is great with us he scored a new seasons high of 15 goals in a season, most of which he had to create for himself as he didn't get much supply. Football being football it wouldn't surprise me if he is in high demand next season, and moves. But I hope he is with us again, as in the same way Myles saves at end end of the pitch kept us up, so Ade's goals at the other end also were crucial.

Taylor is also so enjoyable to watch, another quality player other teams will be looking at, and the quality of the top 3 in the voting - as well as in players that finished outside - shows the big step forward the team made in player selection, where apart from Dipo in the previous season there wasn't too much to choose from.
