I have, but it's a sad reflection on how I feel about things when I was debating for a couple of weeks whether to get one or not. Never ever had that before.

I want to go next season. Rightly or wrongly I'm not happy with the clubs lack of transparency ATM or certain things that have occurred and haven't been put right or straight. I think the only way I can make a statement on this is by not buying. Obviously that is at my detriment possibly but the thought of vs cafc or first game we have a pieced together squad from the scraps of the available pool, Feeny and skippy in the dug out, £7 burgers, an inability to get a pint with ease, same old excuses for poor results and performances - can't see it being anything different from this today.

I was really impressed meeting the squad, they challenged to test my credentials - asking if I saw a match I talked about, asking what I was doing to help fix problems I talked about. I was asked what my starting 11 would be. I started giving a 4 4 2 formation, then immediately thought why do that when I think we should play a much more attacking 4 3 3, so quickly corrected my mistake and gave my favoured 4 3 3 players. The players thought I was confused, they didn't understand the quickness of my thinking made me immediately correct myself when I realised my mistake. This contrasts with last season, where we didnt think quickly enough to make changes for months, so kept making same mistakes of playing too deep with not enough options across the pitch, so didnt score enough to consistently win. We drew so often as we kept making those mistakes.

This whole season ticket renewal question is on my mind since the season end. It has so many contradictory things to balance out before deciding, as unusually it has taken me ages to decide. I have now changed my thinking about it. I will do a separate thread about the importance of options for a team, as our success depends on how well we do that, so this post links in with that thread. Alan's mad optimism makes me laugh, he often manages to ignore important issues that undermine his views, but I am an optimist too. So I will try to force myself to take an optimistic view of next season, and then let that shape my view on renewal. So optimistically, hopefully long term this is a no loss situation, as hopefully Warren has finally learned about the importance of making the team play pushing up with lots of options off the ball. And if he still gets that wrong, sooner or later he would have to go. Fingers crossed he has finally learned the changes he needed to make to get a team to meet its full potential.

We finished off the season beating the champions and play off contenders in really challenging matches.

I learned so much from watching the whole season, the good things to repeat, the bad things to avoid, which I wouldnt have learned from just watching isolated games.

So I say rise above the Warren and owners stupid crap, and look at the bigger picture, and renew the season ticket, or come more regularly.

How utterly depressing that 1 in 3 have decided to go ahead regardless of the way the club has treated them, and sleepwalking into more of the same

Each to their own but when I read comments on here and elsewhere about the level of abuse aimed at sections of our loyal support, I really hoped those same people would vote with their feet.

It seems like blind faith really does exist when it comes to football

If ever the club needed an excuse not to change anything.......

I am a big believer in if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. Boycotting the club has pros and cons, so I guess we all have to work out what we individually think is the most effective way to make ones views heard.

I don't go to the bar after matches, so am not part of that weird communications channel, but from what I hear on this forum the board are approachable there, so I will be talking to them directly there to get a direct answer to my concerns, as that seems to be the only way to get round this Kremlin style of managing things by avoiding public discussion.

 But why operate a club in that manner i.e. I'll speak to you after but won't publish anything.  It's bs and I've had off all the owners little stooges on twitter

 Buying STs and attending every match is being part of the problem as you're effectively giving carte blanche to the owners and management to carry on as they see fit. There's plenty of away games to show your support. An empty ground would soon stick two fingers up at those in charge and hit them in the pocket - if that's not being part of the solution I don't know what is. No amount of WUSA meetings will change the manager or stop Skippy and chums dishing out abuse

I have to agree. Although it would hurt me more than them not to attend home games, the only way to hit this lot is in their pocket. We all need to stick together to get our point across otherwise it wont have any impact.

I must be part of the problem because I fully intend to buy a season ticket and will sponsor a game. I've supported Welling for a long time, not as long as some on here (or amongst the silent majority who don't post on here) but it's well over 30 years. I'm not going to do anything that could seriously damage the club I support. A lot of the stuff on here has been a bit of a recurrent theme over the years. Unless you've a new owner desperate to take over then we all need to decide whether we want to support or try to damage Welling. I know which side of that line I'm on.

Courtjester, the thing that is on my mind is walking away from a problem doesn't necessarily solve it, and I think most here see the problems, but don't agree on the solutions, some say dont buy a season ticket, others say buy one. I remember hearing someone say the difference between football followers and football supporters is that football followers just talk about football, whereas football supporters put money into the game by going to matches, buying club kits, so it is great you are a Welling supporter rather than just a follower.

As a newish fan in the last couple of days I looked at the forum to see how run ups to previous seasons went, and they often have similar problems to this one: lack of urgency over signings, poor communications about new season plans, usually issues related to the new manager being installed after the annual managerial change... So once I realised all this mess is par for Welling it made me think again about a season ticket. As someone said, "we are where we are for a reason", and the reason is we have a below par manager and an inexperienced unbusinesslike set of owners who lack the experience to quickly spot that and the many other things that need to be fixed in this club.

 I appreciate the logic in your post and welling is v lucky to have people like you and the volunteers who will contribute through thick and thin.  What happens when that stops as its a large chunk of fan base is wrong side of middle age.  Needs of demographics change and we are lacking in attracting and keeping engaged, new or infrequent, prospective punters bcos of the way we operate.  Unfortunately I don't think its okay for the club to just rely on the goodwill of fans but operate in the manner they have/are.  Club is nothing without a fan base.  Needs to be a happy medium or at least more of one.

I have bought my season ticket. It isn't about who the owner is nor the manager or even who the players are. It's about supporting my team. Going to see them play on match day. Some will say blind loyalty. Maybe they are correct. For me my team is my team. I enjoy the good times and must accept the bad times. Win, lose or draw, no matter what division. Imagine how fans of Rochdale and Hartlepool feel dropping out of the league. Welling United and Arsenal are my clubs no matter what. Even if other teams are better. I don't care.

So, Ive got myself a season ticket. I dont get involved with the politics, thats for educated people. I just want to pop along and watch a game of football, at the end of which, I can go home happy.
Looking forward in getting out and cheering on my local team, win or lose, have a booze.

 Not until WUSA have somebody in place that will argue for what the fans want or deserve. 

Having someone on the board that simply plays lip service to the owners to pave himself an easy ride and keep the peace does nothing for the regular supporters. 

The club still havent addressed or publicly thanked the work and the decency of the bloody chairman that recently left yet alone listen to the yearnings, wants and needs of the fans. 

Until the supporters group has effective and meaningful leadership and representation that isnt afraid to upset the apple cart then its merely meaningless posturing and hot air. 

Its high time this issue was addressed and people were voted in to act on behalf of the fellow members, someone that will be willing to be the voice of the fans, who will act as a spokesperson and not shy away from engaging with the owners whether that pleases or offends because until that happens then what is the point???

Last season was the first time I have bought a season ticket for any club, and I am really glad I did that. We had such an up and down season if one only caught our low games you'd think we were useless, if you caught our late excellent games you'd think we were great, and it is only by seeing all the matches one gets a clear view of what we really are. Plus £260 max early bird season ticket is great value for a season of football. If I hadn't had that season ticket I may well have given up watching during our October - March slump of 5 wins in 6 months, but then I'd have missed our unexpected great end to the season, so locking ones self in with a ticket can be a good thing.

I am still learning how things work in National League South, so the other day I (naively!) asked why we didn't have a retained player list issued yet (as it would help a decision on season ticket to actually know who is in our team!) and was told it is no point doing one, as basically all the one year contracts expire at the end of a season, so until all the new season negotiations are complete one can't produce a full team picture. Good to now understand that.

Then there is the added complication this season of the manager waltzing off a couple of weeks before pre-season, so that holds up signings while his replacement is found.

Some lucky clubs keep the vast majority of their players, with only Chi, Ade and Jamie confirmed as definite departures, hopefully lots of last season's guys will be back, as I always thought we had the right players, but the wrong manager.

Thanks Mark, just remembered that Rob Howard was also out there saying he is available, and saw yesterday Sam Cox saying he is a free agent, but then once we get a manager maybe some of these may have a change of mind, or be asked to stay?

I popped in on Monday hoping to collect my eason ticket for the weekend and was told they are not ready yet and we will email everyone when they are ready for collection. I was told collection would be at the latter end of the week. checked my emails this evening had no email yet.

Club site: 2023/24 season-ticket cards will be available to collect from Park View Road from Thursday morning and the following times ahead of Saturday's match:

Thurs: 10am-4pm
Fri: 9am-4pm
Sat: 9.30am-12pm

Just in case there are any potential season ticket buyers out there who haven't made the final decision, just chucking my view in. Last season with Welling was the first time I have ever bought a season ticket for any club. I am glad I did, because the advantage of buying a season ticket is you are then locked into whatever the season brings, for better or for worse, so you really do get to see the whole season, not just the best bits if one only turns up when the team is doing well. Last season was a bizarre roller coaster, great start, hopeless very extended middle, great end. Yet if one had only caught the odd game in that bad middle one may not have come again, so would have missed the great start and end.

And buying a season ticket gives the club money up front, which helps the club.

And max £275 for a season ticket for 23 home games plus any friendlies (and maybe cup games, I think they are included) is such good value for money for a whole season of football. I reckon this will be a season of two halves, first half not great as we are catching up with much more settled teams, then second half more level as we will have caught up in experience by then. I also saw the large number of season tickets awaiting collection, that was really pleasing to see.
