I've been popping on to a few other fans forums recently, of teams I'm interested in, and it made me smile that the common thread is poor communication, and lack of or late information.
Whilst we like a moan, and as welling fans it's mainly been deserved, I thought I'd give a little bit of credit. Welling have brought in a manager with experience at this level, our two recent signings have been very encouraging, and I think the socials over the past few weeks have been excellent, engaging and informative. I also note that some teams have only just announced their season ticket info.
Whilst we'll always want more, I thought I'd chip in at this stage to say - keep up this positive improvement.
I read somewhere the other day a great point, that things can suddenly go right or wrong in football. That is so true with us, one change has moved us from toxic gloom to happy wings.
Last season I'd dropped an e mail to the board as I was concerned about some areas. Since then those concerns are resolved, so coincidentally yesterday I sent a follow up e mail to congratulate them on how much progress they have made in such a short time, using lessons learned from quickly. I really liked Danny's interview, it is clear he was told about toxicity that crept into the club, and it is great he is clear about bringing the smile back to our first team.
I mentioned to them I had noticed another club in our League is having listening sessions with fans, so I wondered if Welling could have these too. I know WUSA has a route into the board thinking, but if one is not a WUSA member it may seem hard to know how to get ones views to the board and owners, so maybe listening sessions could be a useful way to do that, as I am sure they would be a helpful addition to the recent big step forward of the club communication and engagement with fans.

I will join WUSA this season, last season I didn't as its only advantages (discount drinks and away travel) didn't apply to me as I didn't go to the bar as I have to drop my kid off to his mum's after a match after the Welling based divorce (she said you deserted me to spend too much time writing posts on the Welling forum, it is either me or the forum, so I told her, "bye!") and didn't go to away games last season due to my dislike of someone's moronic style of football.
But this is a new season, a new start, I'll be drinking in the bar, I'll be going to away matches, and I'll be joining WUSA to try to influence the music we go out to, which I think should be side 1 and 2 of Tubular Bells, as we need to stay contemporary and attract younger fans! And as the players run out play the squad announcement, "Grand piano, Reed and pipe organ, Glockenspiel, Bass guitar, Double-speed guitar, Two slightly distorted guitars, Mandolin, Spanish guitar and, introducing, acoustic guitar, Plus, tubular bells!"
It's so nice things are calm again with the club, the club have responded very constructively to the concerns raised last season.
Would the version on the Quadrophonic release of the album with Vivian Stanshall staggering around the Manor drunkenly describing paintings be more fun?
