I felt a little sorry for the owners, as last season will have been an unusual financial mess for them, we lost revenue from pre-season home games cancellations due to the new pitch unexpectedly needing more time to grow, our poor manager meant we had poor cup runs so didn't make much from cups, the bad weather meant several Saturday home matches were rescheduled to Tuesdays and our midweek attendances are much lower than weekend ones so again money lost, and falling attendances due to now departed toxicity. But this is a new season, fine pitch, fine manager and finances will improve.
There are talks we may well have money problems, so I was worried we may mostly sign very cheap players from lower leagues, but am reassured we are signing a very competitive team of guys with proven experience of our league, and the Charlton friendly shows we may have a stronger start to the season than seemed likely a couple of weeks ago.
