Had a memory come up on Facebook today 10 years ago we had our first home league game that year against Cambridge United. Got me thinking how many clubs have gone onto play in league football since we played them. I can think of Luton, Lincoln, Bristol Rovers, Crawley, Sutton Utd, Newport, Forest Green, Grimsby and Wrexham. I am sure those of you supporting Welling longer than me can think of more. With the exception of Luton I cant think of any of these teams having come back to play a pre season friendly. I feel it would be nice if we could get some of these clubs to visit us in a few years to christen our new stadium as well as one of the big boys in football or is that a pipe dream?

I remember it well, Dave. Cambridge United at home & it was a draw. We were more used to playing Cambridge City but were now in the same division as Cambridge United.

Another league team I can remember playing was Tranmere Rovers & it was one of my most memorable games as we beat them 2-1 at their ground. l also remember us playing AFC Wimbledon & we beat them 1-0 in the league at Kingsmeadow & drew at PVR.

You can add Burton Albion, Stevenage Borough, Tranmere Rovers and Wrexham to that list. I'm sure that others will come to mind if I keep thinking about it.
