See they reduced all their prices except for pensioners. Wonder why our club agreed to this.

Direct train from some Woolwich line stations including Abbey Wood and Slade Green to Elstree and Borehamwood. (Thameslink) Probally quicker and certainly cheaper than a coach. Travelcard Zone 6

Thanks guys, I am the person who finds it impossible to make my way from Dartford train station to the Dartford ground, but I will make my way by train to Boreham Wood, and expect to find my way there shortly after the final whistle!

Danny is the cup king, our league form isn't the best, yet, but in the cups we are unbeaten P3 W2 D1!

I do agree it's a bit strong, but please go as we need as much support as possible, especially if our allocation is approximately 1250 as per Peter's post. I think Dave said it was actually £18 for league games, for Seniors, so at least it's £3 less. I don't think I've ever come across the standard adult price being the same as the Senior price though. Even Johnny said he's going (in favour of his other team, Bromley) so you must surely go!

Normally £20 and £18. Which (call me old fashioned) is taking the p1$$ for that level of football

I didnt know how the gate money is split in the FA cup, so have looked it up, and seen that it is split 45% to each club, with the FA getting the remaining 10%, apart from the final 3 rounds. Plus the prizemoney for each round.

Reading between the lines various things suggest we are tight for money this season, but we had preseason friendlies this season, and still in the 2 cup competitions we have already played in, so that is all good news financially.

It is so devious of Wallop to complain about me and Bromley when he is always sneaking off to Gosport to do their match commentary! Here is his commentary of the Welling v Gosport replay, after hearing this Nigel will be scared of the competition! Wallop's "Listen with Mother" delivery is so lovely! www.youtube.com/watch

I do believe expenses are deducted first before split.

Let me please first declare a vested interest - I am an OAP.

Though it only occasionally happens (such as at Beckenham pre-season), I can't object to paying the same as any other adult and it would never stop me attending any of our games.  Also if I lived locally I would be able to travel to matches free of charge, so we are well looked after.

For all the negative talk of the match day pricing, in fairness to Boreham Wood, their Season Ticket prices are identical from ages 20 to 70 (at £230, no extra for seating), and is only £15 over 70

........ and no, I have no intention of changing my allegiance for a few pennies less.

Peter, I think you have missed the point. I wasn't talking about season tickets prices. The point I was making was they are ripping people off @£15 for oaps. Their web site says it's £14 for matchdays for oaps. I can't understand why they have jacked the price down for adults but not for oaps. No wonder they don't more than 900 folks for their home matches

Gary, looking at prices home and away for their league games it is £20 adult and £18 senior providing booked in advance. So they have given a £5 discount for non oldies and £3 for oldies. However I am more concerned that someone at Welling United agreed to this. Bet your life if we are forced to bring them back to PVR their 2 traveling fans will get a decent seniors discount.

We've a 100% record against them in the FA Cup that should encourage a good turn-out

Although it was the wrong choice of match to go to on the day, going to watch Bromley was useful in a roundabout way, as it highlighted some of the key things a team needs to do to succeed. I watched the match thinking, "what is the difference between Welling and the standard a division above?" I*n the event, there wasn't much of a gap between us and either of the two teams, so that gives me confidence for our Boreham Wood game as they are also in the division above us. The biggest difference I noticed is a level up players have fewer touches on the ball, so move it around quicker, and there are more forward passes and less sideways or backwards passes than we make, so more direct. But as our players get better used to each other we will do more of those things too.

Before Tristan joined one of our match reports had the headline, "Welling goal drought continues" which amused me, as Mark is normally cautious about bringing online attention to our issues (manager threatening fans? I must have missed it. Boyfriend of the daughter of the owner threatening fans? Not newsworthy.) and I get all that as we have enough on our plate without negative press attention. So it was funny to see mention of our goal drought, as it is quite a uncharacteristically strongly worded description, unless it was titled by a Dartford supporting subeditor. Since Tristan joined we have gone the other way, and are now having a goal flood! Scored 13 goals in the last 5 games, and we'll loyally overlook the 10 goals conceded in them!

Mark shocked me the other day by saying James Dunne had scored for Dover, as I don't think James Dunne ever got a shot on target for us, let alone score. But it turns out he scored with a penalty, so that is the answer to our penalty taking decision, bring back James Dunne!

The last goal scored by Tristan Abrahams before he joined Welling        was a penalty for Eastleigh against Borehamwood in which the                former won 1-0!

OK, I accept the challenge!

Let's all go to this game, I will be catching a bus to Greenwich and then taking the Thameslink train from Greenwich, as the FA cup is so exciting, everyone who enters has a chance to write their own piece of history. On current form there isn't much difference between us and Borehamwood, and their results suggest they are missing a striker, whereas we have recently fixed that in our team. They probably train more often than us, so it is a bit like us against Gosport, who will have trained less often than us. It is a game where we need to win in the first meeting, if we meet for a replay it could be like us and Gosport, where our higher league fitness kicked in in the replay. Except against Borehamwood in a replay they may have the fitness advantage.

But there is nothing to suggest we have no chance, it is game on, we can win this one, if things go their way they could too, but we have had a week break from matches, so will be fresh. We lost our first four league games, so in effect gave the other teams a four game headstart. But now we are in cup games we have caught up, P3, W2, D1, so no big reason why we can't carry on this cup run.

They are full time, but more than half their squad are over 29, experienced maybe, but I fancy our lads to give them a game.
Balanta now 33 is a good player, Ty marsh seems out of form and ndlovu who was very good at a lower level for Brackley Town a couple of years back ain't done much either.
Their best player is probably their goalkeeper, Nathan Ashmore 33 now but always been decent.

This match has so much mixed background, they have been in the division above since 15-16, and made the play offs last season, and their manager has been managing them since 2015, whereas we are new and pretty much starting from scratch. But this season so far has been a let down for them, 2 points above relegation spot, maybe due to injuries, and their manager previewing our game by saying they play really badly, just knocking a long ball up to their striker. Looking at their recent game highlights there is a massive basic mistake they make, so although they are a division above us I really fancy our chances.

The concern is they had a great cup run to the 5th round of the FA cup in 2021-22, so should be really fired up to get that sort of glory again. But it is definitely winnable, most likely a 1 - 1 draw, or slightly less likely a 2 - 1 win for us, but they play with the self belief we had last season, and I will be so surprised and disappointed if we are not in the hat for the first round draw. What goes around comes around, fine, they have pathetically blocked Radio Wings, but let's hope that does them no favours when we beat them, as that sort of behaviour from them is what that deserves.
