Ha ha. That was a well deserved result.
I doff my cap to Mr Curran for that winner.
We made hard work of it, and it had all the hallmarks of Tuesday night at Dover.
That new midfielder looks tidy, and still think Adom would be better suited alongside Abraham.
So happy we got three points out of that.
Hope the confidence resonates through the team.
It was mentioned last night at the MTM evening that the squad is very young. Boy does it show at times. 2-0 up again and the same stuff started to happen as it did on Tuesday. Cannot fault the effort the players put in they run and run all day. Hopefully as the season progresses they will control games after going in front. Massive credit goes to the team for snatching the late winner. Byrd deserves a mention for the lovely inviting cross to set up Curren for the winner. I like this squad. I like Danny Bloor and his coaching team. They deserve to be successful as they have significant challenges to overcome an are doing it without complaint
On the post match walk back I said Welling matches need a government health warning, as we can be so stressful to watch. But lots to be really pleased about. In previous matches we seemed to have a Bermuda triangle behind our striker, nothing there, so not enough in attacking positions to score often, but today Jepthe and the new central midfield player really held position well, so we didnt have the curse of the isolated striker up front, but had an attack and support, and four goals to prove it, which off the top of my head I think is our highest league scoring game since the fab Oxford 5 - 0 win last season.
The table looks much healthier after we have continued our unbeaten run, as a while back we were 5 points below the safety line, so needed two wins to close that gap which didnt look that likely to happen, but all those points from draws add up, disappointing as they may have seemed at the time, as the teams that were above us havent been consistently picking up points, so we have closed the gap, so we now have a decent chance of survival in that bottom 8 teams mini relegation table. The draws rather clouded the picture, but since the 4 losses in our first 4 games we have P18, W6 D8 and only L4.
The meet the manager evening opened my eyes to all sorts of challenges we have to deal with on and off the pitch, and it is so pleasing the guys have a win as reward for their determination and commitment.

That match could have gone either way and we showed a lot of character to win in the end. Hopefully that will give confidence to the team.
I don't suppose anyone has an update on the Slough fan who needed medical attention? Hope they're okay.
'X' message from the 'injured' Slough fan - get well soon Ian.
Ian Matthews
From a Slough Town fan , Ian Matthews, thanks to all the staff, paramedics for looking after me this afternoon, i didn't feel great but you were so good. I cannot thank you enough xx
Great result yesterday, happy to get the three points. On a side note when I arrived home Strictly Come Dancing was on tv and it was good to see Bobby Brazier warming up to do his dance routine wearing a pair of blue Welling Utd shorts. Curious, but does anyone know the connection?

My wife works on the show and says Bobby keeps forgetting his shorts, so he just gets them out of the strictly lost property bin. Joking aside, I noted he was wearing Leyton Orient shorts a few weeks back so I think it's an in joke with someone, somewhere.
