No Jimmie, this is Brackley Town, north of Oxford. They play in National League North.
I don't believe we have ever played them, and certainly there are no programmes that I can see between the two sides. We did go to Bromsgrove in 1995, but not Brackley.
The only connection is probably Thierry Audel, who played there the season after our Play Off Final defeat at Woking.
I do have some of their programmes from last year if they are of use to anyone in the club.
Without wishing to prolong this discussion I believe that Jimmie needs new contact lenses as I can only assume he has looked up BROCKLEY South East London!!
Thanks for your replies. It was just to know if I need to sort out a pennant to present to them on 9th. It is something we have done with clubs in the past and the away team pennants are on display in the club shop as are replicas from the past.

Guys, guys, guys, I refer my right honourable colleagues to look at a map, and you will see there is indeed Charlton to the left of Brackley. And Dadford to the right!

I don't know what you're on but in the UK, Charlton is North West of Dartford with Welling and Bexleyheath in between. Dadford is near Silverstone.

Our Johnny is being a comedian, Mark. There are many places named 'Charlton' in England (one of which is near Brackley, Northants). You are correct, Dadford, Bucks is near Silverstone, Northants (& of course, Johnny is referring to the similarity in spelling with 'Dartford'). Lest we forget, Bromley is much easier to get to than Dartford. Johnny will get stick for a while yet on that one.
Naturally, there is little relevance to Dave's original post. Two Ells called it right coz the 'bins' are playing up again. Brockley, Bickley, Bromley but never Dartford... or Dadford.
Bloody hell, I have looked at the map, and just found out there is a Charlton in London! News indeed for a certain poster who gave up the impossible challenge of navigating a straight road from Dartford Station to their bloody ground...
It is bizarre the contrast between our cup form and our league form, we have won 1 of our last 12 league games, but (penalty shoot out win included) have won 4 out of 6 of our cup games so far this season. So we are clearly favourite to beat Brackley! Danny is better in the cups than Marilyn Monroe!
I've explained I had posted here under the name Johnny Hartley as a private joke, as that is kind of rhyming slang for my real name, and then started posting under my real name Jimmie, but I am still seen as Johnny here... so a word of warning, in the incredibly unlikely event we lose to table topping Yeovil on Saturday we will have the return of Johnny Hartley!
Breaking my limit of three short paragraphs to bring a new special bonus exclusive, looking at our (amusingly inaccurate) squad listed at www.goal.com/en/team/welling-united/9l2o1wwnkpf0bwbr948wh50kw we have N. Jones as a 21 year old defender... congratulations to Nigel for making the first team, though I'd have sworn Nigel is over 21... and clever to register under the name Nico... with Nigel and Taylor Curran in defence our defensive issues are solved!

I actually would've played on Tuesday night but couldn't get a shirt to fit, Danny intends to hold me back as a secret weapon
I have been watching a lot of the Marc White at Dorking Wanderers series on YouTube, as one can learn so much from that. He swears like mad, slags his players off like mad, and he made me smile when he said in a recent episode "this is a pantomime" as he knows very well the cameras are on him, so lots of what he says is for show, drama, not totally for real, the real stuff is said to the players in training sessions off camera.
But he has a point, football is for fun and banter, not to be taken too seriously, which actually is hard to do when there are so many hilarious egomaniacs around in the game who think they are better than they really are. The secret in football is to not take it or ones self too seriously.
But joking aside, I think it is really disgraceful what Nigel is up to, recording prerecorded commentaries, praising this promising new defender N Jones. I know Mark would put a stop to it, if he wasnt so busy eating his sandwiches!
Our results are very close, usually winning or losing by a goal or drawing, so penalty shoot outs are always quite likely for us in cup games, and our penalties against Taunton were so good, I've seen us knocked out of 3 cups on penalties in the last 2 seasons, but if Brackley goes down to penalties it wont be the predictable mess of the last 2 seasons.
Brackley Town do indeed play in National League North and they are quite good. They sit just outside the play-off places this season and last season they finished 2nd in the league to lose out on promotion in the play-offs. The team we are playing in the Trophy are from north of Oxford. I am sure there are other places named Brackley just as I know there are two Gillingham's

This is true Alan, as Brackley have been in and around the play-offs for a few years now. Maybe slightly unfortunate not to be in The National League. They went to Alfreton and beat them 1-0 on Saturday. Goodness me, who remembers us at Alfreton in the NL when we got that draw? Pretty much kept us up.
We've got Weston away & Aveley away (Mon).
Brackley have got Boston at home & Chester away (Tues)
A mixed bag for Brackley as they beat Boston 2-1 but lost 1-0 at Chester. They are a decent side and are not afraid to get players in the box.
We need to perform like we did against Yeovil. The prize money (£4500?) for the winning team will obviously come in handy. Fairly sure it goes straight to penalties, in the event of a draw at 90 mins. Can the tickers take penalties again?!
Looking forward to this, as they look an attacking side, so it should be a good game. I had a look at their recent highlights and was struck by how many players push up in their attacks, so they are very attacking going forward, but hopefully that gives us a chance to hit them on the break. They dont score or concede that many, and their striker Danny Newton on 10 goals is the league's 4th highest goalscorer. They are 4th in their division, but we have only lost once against the 3 top 4 sides we have played so far in our division, so there is room for hope!
Very hard to call this one. Id say down the years the NLN is stronger than the NLS. If they have a a more grown up hairy arse experienced side our young side will be in for a long afternoon I fear. Might as well throw the kitchen sink at it. COYW.
