Heard he was off to Luton? Also can we call him a senior striker at such an early age? Roscrow and Abrahams not in the match day squad is a strange one. We really need Abrahams to stay and he should get stuck in, score 20 goals and put himself in the shop window to return to league football.
Not good. Whilst I wasnt at the game so cant comment on performance to concede three goals in the first half without reply is appalling. The table looks very daunting, and we are leaking near average 2 goals a game. I really cant see where we can string a few wins together :(. Trying to look for some positives out of the truly dire situation.
2-0 down inside 15 minutes. Taylor Curran was like Bambi on ice. At fault for both of those goals. As per usual we let another in before halftime. All season our defending has been crap today was on another level of crapness. We are well and truly banjacked. Goodbye National league hello M25 league. Very very annoyed today. Defending like that is not acceptable at this level. Im hoping someone will wake me up and its all been a terrible nightmare.
Curran 2, Welling 1.
Sick and tired of banging on about his inability at playing football.
The team carries him every game he plays (yes, that includes his winner against Slough).
I am surprised Byrd aint gone elsewhere.
Bloor picks the team, and what walked out this afternoon was his doing.
He cost us today, make no mistake.
As for after the game, clapping the supporters, he can FO in my opinion.
Nice bloke, I can only assume he is pressured into picking Curran.
Either way, this cant be sugar coated with a after match gesture.
A team is only as good as its weakest link, and when the weakest link is Taylor Curran in central defence you are hopelessly screwed.
I had to go home straight after the game as my son had lost his bank card on the way to the match, which stopped me from staying after the match and asking Danny why pick Curran instead of Byrd? Or why keep him in the squad? Yet again Curran shows he is not quick enough for National League South.
I'll need to see the highlights to know if our two penalty claims for handball were correct. We had lots of shots. So bar Curran's man of the match performance for Aveley a 1 - 1 draw would have been an accurate or fairer result, maybe a win for us if the penalties had gone our way, but you cant expect to get anything from a game if you give two stupid goals away. The new defender was excellent, new striker was quiet in this game at least. We carried on the sound work from the Dartford rematch, miles better team shape now we play two up front. I was impressed how our heads didnt go down after the two stupid early goals. A consolation is none of the lower teams won, so we havent really lost ground today.

Very disappointing display, but not just on the pitch! Getting into the ground was confusing as pre-paid on-line tickets were not accepted through the gate as they were last match; new players named but with no time to get to know the rest of the squad; 2 down after 15 minutes almost as expected; no lights in the toilets on the E&B side of the ground; Power failure in the budget bar; no food left in the other food outlet. Then we are 3 down and only slightly encouraged by scoring a penalty.
Im feeling the whole organisation is now very amateur so wed be more suited to a lower league.
A sad situation as Im a +30 year supporter, well remembering standing in the cow shed long before the E&B stand was ever thought of, and when you could still enjoy a smoke in the bar and our stand. Finally a question: the E&B stand was built without the team having to vacate, why not just redevelop our stand, incorporating residential to meet the finance costs? Ever since MG first published a scheme they have always been way to grand. IMO
How Taylor Curran makes the starting eleven is truly beyond me. He is genuinely shocking.
Needing 29 points from 21 games to stay up, I think we may aswell start preparing for life in the Isthmian league.
Its so frustrating to hear people shouting for Dannys head. We get what we pay for and that is a team that is simply not cut out for this level. We have got away with it for three or four seasons now but unfortunately we wont be as lucky this year.
The best thing we could do is try to get Danny onboard for next season and retain a handful of players he feels are good enough in the summer and get rid of the rest.

TJ Bramble was also responsible for the first goal today. I can't understand why Bryd has been dropped? He made one mistake against Dartford but was excellent for the rest of that game and has been decent all season.
Danny Carr looked well off the pace to be fair. If terms can't be agreed with Abrahams I'd be happy enough if we went with Kamara and Adom up top.

The signing of Daniel Carr just baffles me. He couldnt get in the Sevenoaks Town side, two (one shortly) leagues below. What message was that sending to David Kamara, who then came on and had a far greater impact in the second half than Carr did. The relegation tour is in full swing, all aboard.

I think we had the right man in danny but the rot of loosing has set in. Happened with prior managers before him aside from feeney who was given the keys to everything. If the owners don't invest in the actual playing side and maintain a club to run now, not some pie in the sky development then this downward spiral will continue. As others have said been lucky prev years.
Wtf have they signed Daniel Carr wasn't rated first time. Where are these players coming from. Is our pull down to lack of finance, the manager, the attraction (lack of) to play for us or a combination of all 3.
Was going to write the same.Off field, wow, terrible again.Just really looks like the club has given up.Its been bad alot, but today was awful( off field)
You can sum today's Welling United v Aveley game up in one sentence. What a pile of poop.
You can't win games letting in such sloppy goals as we conceded especially so early and with our lack of goal scoring ability and goals. Once we played good football and we lost by the narrowest of margin or were unlucky but know we aren't even playing good football. I must question some of the team selections in the last few games and some of the substitutions made. I won't name names as others have because as I've said before I'm certain every player is doing his utmost and so is the manager but sometimes you just aren't good enough.
After every defeat we get the same old faff. Good luck to the other team. We were unlucky, played some good football second half, just a couple of mistakes cost us today. Wake up and smell the coffee............it's a results business and we only have 4 wins from 26 league games that's terrible. Better managers have been sacked with better records than this. It isn't good enough. Welling United need to start winning. Good football, bad football, siege mentally, counter attack, long ball, all out attack, any formation you like! I don't care, win the game.
Our current manager is a nice bloke, he is trying his best. That's alright it doesn't matter we will be relegated. Now before you all start about the lack of budget which I accept may be true and so the board are equally to blame, maybe the previous manager spent what is needed to keep a club in National League South. Perhaps, the board don't have the resources or won't spend the resources needed to stay in this division. Fair enough, but please be honest and tell us rather than giving us false hope.
I was told by some Eastbourne fans the other week that our manager is a really person, a good man manager and an inspirational speaker but one thing he isn't is a good coach and that he relies heavily on his coaching staff. Both our two previous managers had been there done it and got the tee-shirt. Both played professionally and for their respective countries. Maybe, they weren't as nice? The latter should have been more professional and risen above the taunts and not reacted to them but I tell you what he got the job done. Twice he kept us up. Alex Ferguson was arrogant had temper tantrums, famously threw a football boot at David Beckham. He wasn't there to necessary be liked but to do a job, which he did. He's arguably the best ever football manager there has been.
The records of all our recent managers bar one Steve Lovell is better than our current manager. In my time as a Welling fan I think Jamie Day (2nd stint), Steve King, Bradley Quinton, Peter Taylor and Warren Feeney have all better football managers. It can't all be blamed on a lack of money. There have been poor decisions made along the way. Playing Dickenson when he clearly wasn't fit at Truro. Playing Holden at Torquay. Leaving better players out of the team because they've made one mistake. Winterbottom after Dover and Byrd after Dartford. Even today picking some players ahead of much better available players. If money is so tight, we do we have 3 right backs now? We don't need 3!
Would I sack Danny Bloor? No, I have said for a number of years the club needs stability, not a constant turnaround of players and managers. You never know he might be a decent manager at Step 3
Would I be happy if he resigned? Yes, definitely
Do I think he is good manager? No, not particularly
Will I miss him once he has left? No, What he has achieved so far has left me far from impressed.
Is he a nice man? Yes
Has he done the best he can? Yes, I believe he has put every effort he possibly can in, but has fallen short of what is needed at this level.
Just a thought...if we go down would it be easier to get a local team to groundshare with for the redevelopment ( if it happens)....less requirements....a bit of a conspiracy theory but just saying....

As a devotee of Mulder and Scully (especially Scully) I have been thinking this for awhile now. If, and it is a big if, we survive and go to Tonbridge as has been mooted on here many fans myself included will not be in a position to travel there. Go somewhere like Cray Valley, Pheonix or even Beckenham would be a bit easier for a lot of our support.

I wouldn't wish to go to phoenix, pitch is awful. But our academy plans have a 2000 capacity stadium in the plans that would be allowed...
Agreed but neither Park View Road or Footcray Road have planning permission yet. Then there is the slight problem of constructing the sites. Hopefully that will not take as long as Flamingo Park has for Cray Wanderers but problems do arise.

Carr is simply a squad filler. Abrahams and Roscrow are probably gone for good so we bring in a player from leagues below to fill the void. We are slipping lower and lower almost pub league standard now. Embarrassing.
