Hi guys, just floating an idea out there. We dont get much say at this football club, however, WUSA is potentially our only hope. What are peoples opinions on WUSA removing itself off the board, showing the owners the fans have lost connection with them and the football club, and the organisation becoming a separate, fan ran organisation? A symbolic move potentially

Couldn't agree more. having a supporter on the board is nothing more than a token gesture and means FA.

If WUSA dont come out and remove itself from these clowns it says everything you need to know about them. Do the right thing and make your voices heard.

Its time and long over due.

Matthew can not possibly remain on the board showing support for these clowns destroying the club.

Do the right thing.

I am not a member of WUSA, and personally I think Matt's position is untenable now, however objectively I feel this is a question to answered by the WUSA membership, if they want to consider this option their committee  should call an EGM and put it to a vote, as the result of this gesture would probably mean they would not have any supporter representation on any future boards and the WUSA membership should discuss and decide if that is the right move for the supporters association.

I very rarely post on here as to be honest what I have to say can be said face to face on match days, but after yesterdays fiasco I have decided to come out of hibernation.

Matt is a good friend of mine and he truly does have the best interests of this club at heart. However, I have been asking him to step down from his position for over a year now, not in order to please or displease anyone on here, but for the sake of himself and his family and after yesterday I think it's more important that he does.

On a personal note a stand has to be made, no matter how small that stand is. I along with several other supporters have been giving up my time free of charge in order to keep the place clean and tidy, and to carry out the numerous minor repairs that have needed doing. As of today that will no longer be happening and I would ask the other volunteers to do the same.

It's our club and we all need to prevent it being lost

Towards the end of last season Matt publicly said fans should back the board and manager. I thought that a bizarre statement, as results were poor and fans clearly did not support the manager, as all fans could see we are a club with an attendance of around 500, so could not support the excessive size of squad, many highly paid, and that financial recklessness was due to the board and manager. So why tell fans to continue supporting something that was failed? It did not reflect fans thinking at all.

With that statement being so out of step with the fans, it made me wonder was Matt speaking more as a mouthpiece for the board, rather than as a representative of the fans? I wondered, and still do, if doing that role long term compromises one, if one does not want to rock the boat as it may risk ones cosy feet under the table. Is one still even representing the fans interests, or ones own? Important questions to avoid complacency.

There clearly does need to be continuous long term knowledged fan representation on the board, as shown by Matt being so open and informed at the WUSA meeting, that really impressed me, discussing things we would never have known otherwise due to the excessively secretive board. But I listened with surprise, it seemed odd, to me at least, to hear criticisms of people already gone or at that stage still here, coming from someone who had so openly supported them in the past.

Matt has lots of qualities, and a depth of knowledge about what is good for the club that needs to be maintained on the board. But I think there should be an additional fan representative selected each year, to avoid that over cosy relationship that has clearly built up. Listening to the development talks at the WUSA meeting, it could be seen as spin given for the board's point of view, rather than fan perspective and open ended discussion, to look at other options apart from Tonbridge, ie helping another more local ground upgrade seating numbers so we could avoid losing the 50% or more fans that predictably would stop going to Tonbridge games. Taunton players publicly complained about the long term financial mismanagement by the owners. Have WUSA board presence the same sort of commitment to oppose things, or just keep quiet, and then complain when things go wrong?

Wusa have contributed helping the club but after yesterday members must be thinking WTF is going on.

Kev post sums up what I mean in a nutshell.

My understanding is the place on the board was given to one representee from WUSA not to Matt personally, Matt was elected by the WUSA membership to the said post, If he decide to leave that post, WUSA will have to hold elections. Theoretically if no candidate comes forward the position on the board should remain vacant until such time a representee is elected.

Board representative or not it has not and will not make any difference. We are being royally royally shafted and the owners are not interested in what I think, you think, what Matt thinks or anyone else.
They want their bit of dough out the development and theyll try walking over anything that tries to disrupt that.

A boycott, a refusal to spend money in the ground (beers, grub, programmes etc), a pitch invasion, tennis or golf balls, sit down protest or any kind of disruption is what is really required for engagement or understanding. Failing any of the above then just bend over and take your medicine.

100% the above need to stick together and not roll over. Don't be tricked by good old Howard having a beer and being honest in the bar after the game
