Shock horror..... its Rod Stringer.

I do feel a bit sorry for him as he's walking into a circus at the moment, it's not him or his management team who are directly responsible for Danny's sacking and any protests need to be directed towards whoever has made the decisions.

Ultimately however saddened by recent events and more importantly, how they have been actioned, good luck to Rod and his team, I hope they can perform a miracle and get us out of the trouble we are in.

Yep, we have no other option but to get behind Rod and the boys, as Polo rightly describes.

However I really would like to see and get behind a peaceful symbolic demonstration towards the owners that does not implicate or affect the new coaches and/or current players. We need to get across that we want to know what is happening behind the scenes of our great club, and why it's important that we are communicated to, consulted, considered, or... simply valued. We want and need more assurances that our club is being looked after (I know most have already made their mind up but...) and what is really behind the rumours and the wide ranging information swirling around the Internet regarding our ground redevelopment.

I'm not best placed to suggest what this gesture is, or to organise but a 2 minute long chant of "We want our Welling Back" or similar upon kick off on Saturday against Taunton is a starter for 10 (avoiding any organised silences I presume for Hobbins and Brown on Tuesday???).

...and to reiterate, good luck Rod and the team.

That is a coincidence, I was just looking at the Dartford site to see who our next manager would be, and someone there said, "I did hear a few weeks ago that Rod Stringer had been asked by someone high up at the club to help out with the coaching at Welling and that Danny Bloor was none too happy about it. Bloor felt that Stringer was a manager rather than a coach. If Stringer does take over as the new boss it does feel like this has been pre-planned."

I remember in the past Rod was praised here, so saw a vid of him talking after a game, and remember he seemed sound enough. Though his overall career win rate isn't great, he has got to play offs and promotion, so has a successful track record. Promising.

I've a feeling I will like him, as I like his X post after a previous role ended, refreshing in this PC world where one often isnt supposed to think or say what one thinks. I get a sneaky feeling he may be on cautious, reticent Wallop's wavelength too!

"I have taken the last 2 days to reflect on the decision made by the chairman on Tuesday night which in my opinion isnt a football decision or result based its just personal one, the fact is he never wanted his role at the club and he made it quite clear to us all, he is clueless."

Thats a very odd place to look to find out who our next manager would be. Why on earth are you looking on the Dartford site FFS.

His assistant manager is Kevin Watson, but not the one that played for Welling and took Cray Valley PM to Wembley and the Isthmian League South East

Riverstown, you know me, I have a silly sense of humour, so it is funny to read what our rivals say about us, just like they come to our site to see what we say about them! So the other day they discussed what Welling should call ourselves, and two of their suggestions for us were Bus Stop Fc and the Tarpaulins. You bastards, I thought, while laughing!

But I read there as they are understandably rattled by the thought of relegation, so it is a relief to distract ones self from our relegation battle by thinking of someone else's relegation. That Tony Burman sounds so like Peter Taylor it is spooky.

But we have a team, they seem to have lots of individual players, so like their amusingly despairing fans on the forum, I also wonder if they could go down, as sometimes you get teams that drop down the table like a stone, who cant get a win to save their life towards the end of a season, and they seem to think that is their fate. Serve them right for jealously calling us the Bus Stop! We've got a bus stop, they haven't.

Well, Rod Stringer deserves a fair crack of the whip, at least. Let's hope Rod & his team can carry on from that excellent performance against Hemel on Saturday.

We know Rod from days of old. He did very well at Braintree & let's not forget those Chelmsford days. He has now ventured south of the river.

5th from bottom will do us, Rod!

You may have a tunnel, but because we have a lucky bus stop we are staying up, and you are not!
