Same story, slightly the better team, let in a very poor sloppy goal from a corner.

Fantastic team spirit especially after the idiotic retaliation by Abraham

Abraham needs to know what it would have meant if we lost down to his insubordination
That was shocking behaviour.
Very impressive fight back though.
Could Welling still be playing at this level next season?
If they deal with Abrahams & keep Curran off the pitch, then why not.
Liked the 3 forward style when at 1-1.
Basically told the opponents we are not here for a draw.

Credit to them, battled well and to be fair stringer done a good job on sidelines getting them running and constantly talking. Abrahams is a complete idiot for that. I don't mind seeing a bit of fight and it gets the crowd going, but grabbing the guy like that is braindead, shouldn't get paid whist he's suspended.

Joe ellul was absolutely brilliant and that tackle towards the end was one of the best you'll see.

Great performance, especially in attacking play in the second half, when I guess Rod told them at half time things to improve on in the second half.

The table makes much happier viewing now, doesn't it! If we can beat Taunton on Saturday we will be just a point behind them. And if that happens and if Farnborough beat Dartford, then we will be just 4 points behind Dartford.

3 wins from our last 4 games! And a seriously good chance at the weekend of our first 3 wins in a row.

For all the fury surrounding Stringer and his appointment he got another 10%-20% out of those lads tonight. So credit where its due. That was a bloody good win! Anthony Grant - superb

Onto the next one!

Carried on where we left off on Saturday. Tremendous battling performance. Back to back wins is fantastic. Our boys were knackered at the end tonight, mainly down to that second half performance.

What on earth was Abrahams thinking? He is an experienced player but, ironically, his sending off seemed to help us play better.

Rod Stringer was lively as ever & he has got off to a great start.
Well done Rod & let's keep the momentum going. Taunton at home on Saturday.

Really pleased with that performance, to a man battled to the end. You never know if we continue in this vein the great escape could be on. I thought the two old heads (Grant & Ellul) were immense and lead from the front throughout the whole match. Both of our goals were extremely well constructed and we defended as if our lives depended upon it (which it does. The sending off happened right it front of us, Abrahams was clipped in a way that deserved a yellow card but his reaction was totally out of proportion and he left the referee with no option but to flourish a red card. Silly boy, could have cost us the match but we just rolled up our socks and got on with it. A repeat of such a team performance would be nice on Saturday.

Riverstown, you need to stop this silly twisting of what I say to have a pointless pop at me. I have already explained here I am keeping a close watch on Dartford and Taunton as they are the 2 teams above us that I think are most likely to get sucked into R problems, which from my Welling point of view is well worth keeping an eye on.

Premiership and International football gets tons of publicity so one can easily be well informed about activity in those areas, but NLS has less coverage. So to find out more about our opponents ahead of playing them so I know at least something about them I tend to watch their latest highlights, and the latest post match interview with their manager, as they often also talk about the next match coming up which is interesting to see how they look at us.

But I have also just started reading opposition fans forums ahead of playing them, as that is also full of interesting advance info. For example, the Chesterfield forum ahead of our game said they would play their academy team, and that their manager wouldnt be coming down to watch the match. That made me bet on us to win that match, as if their manager couldnt even be bothered to watch the game it hardly suggested he was particularly worried about winning the game, as he clearly had league priorities. So yeah, I read the Dartford forum, but read all the other forums too.

Anything else you want to unnecessarily complain about me?

The important thing from our consecutive win (yeah!!!! Result!!!!) is we had another well deserved confidence boosting win and have cut a 9 point gap into just 4 points, and after Saturday could be just 1 point gap! I'm looking for The Great Escape! Enjoy all this and stop looking for silly things to complain about.

You obviously have too much time on your hands. What with reading every other teams forums and writing 500 word posts and replies. Knock yourself out. Carry on boring us all to death.

The discontent about Danny's illtimed sacking has understandably upset the fans, last night's attendance seemed lower than I'd have expected, so maybe some stayed away in protest, and I've seen fans online saying they'd not buy drinks etc at matches because they are unhappy with the owners.

It is important not to shoot ourselves in the foot, otherwise we could eventually end up the next insolvent Taunton. Yes, there has clearly been cost cutting this season, which reflects in the squad depth not being great. But the owner has funded a squad that plays really gripping football.

In the first half we never looked likely to score as we didnt get enough players forward, whereas Hampton often got 3 players up into attack, but we fixed that in the second half, and continued the great start to the second half of the season.

A breath of fresh air. A strong performance from the 1st whistle. Welling United played a high press and didn't let Hampton settle into their rhythm. Went 1-0 down at the end of the first half again! Slightly against the run of play I felt. What impressed me though was our heads didn't drop we kept battling and got the equaliser. Abrahams stupidly got himself sent off but you know what we kept going and got a winner. Welling challenged for every ball and ran all game. The team was well organised and all from the same players on the same budget. If we beat Taunton on Saturday we are 1 point behind though they do have 3 games in hand. I think it's still probably too late, not sure even Jurgen Klopp could keep Welling up but we have a fighting chance and think even if we do get relegated we will go down with a fight rather than a whimper. We beat a very good Hampton side having a good season so that's fantastic.

Rod Stringer is the type of manager I like. A proper manager coaching from the touchline from first to last whistle. Reminding players of their position, responsibility to the team and to keep their shape. Not criticising them but encouraging and praising them. Motivating them for that extra 10-20% effort. Nice touch to get the crowd to clap Will Wood when he came off. I like we offered and played with a more attacking threat and didn't drop deep. We mixed play up, sometimes playing passing football sometimes playing long ball depending on what the passage of play called for.

If it's true Gary Fiore has taken David Kamara back to the academy then that is petty from someone who is supposed to care about Welling United. It isn't the best for David's career either. Enforces what I've said the club needs it's own academy. Everyone should set their differences aside and pull together for the benefit of Welling United Football Club because we just might have a chance to survive now.

Verdict: You never know

Just quickly adding on, I am really pleased for the players their commitment to Welling this season is being rewarded by some long overdue wins and turnaround in fortune.

Being semi-pros, lots of these guys have other jobs, so fit in some games by taking leave, so can't have proper breaks like most workers can. Sunday is pretty much the only non working day for lots of them. That is fine when winning, but if one puts that time in, and aren't winning most of the time it is easy to get demoralised not having much to show for all the time put in. But despite us being bottom 4 for most of the season so far, the team never looked downheartened or lacking in self belief. That reflects so well on Danny, and now Rod. It also impresses me how these guys play so well with just 2 training sessions a week, their fitness and skill way above anything I ever had. So great they have things to celebrate now.

A shame about Tristan's red card, we only have 17 games left, missing 3 of them is a big chunk, and after his break he looked a bit as if he needed to get fitness fully back, so the new break doesn't help that. But it is great to have him back apart from that, as hopefully Rod will get the team to play more to Tristan's strengths, ie pass to him more often, and he can be a real season saver for us.
