Just want to see what other people have to say for this, but don't we think that Wusa should try and run more coaches, especially when you've got games such as Yeovil. I get that sometimes the coaches don't run because there isn't enough people, but it would surely be worth a try?

Agreed so if anyone likes to take this on please send a watsapp, text or email to the club shop.

Be warned though coach hire is not cheap. Quotes for Dover and Braintree were upto £1000 and I would estimate £2500 easily for Yeovil or Chippenham.

Chippenham is 1 hour and 9 mins from Paddington and if you agree to go with at least 2 others, it's £26. The train is quicker and likely cheaper than a coach would be.

If there were 33 people who went to Truro for I believe £20 a head for the first game of the season, you've got no chance of getting 40 people paying £50 a head for Yeovil, when we are in the form we are in.

Didn't Davy K suggest at the wusa meeting that it would be a good idea to use the money in the kitty from the 50/50 money to hire coaches to places like Yeovil, with members playing a token sum of money to help out with the cost.

Yes money can be used to subsidise coaches as we did for Truro and were prepared to do for Gosport. However that does not speak to the Elephant in the room - who is going to take responsibility and do the organising.

I think one of the main selling points of WUSA membership was a discount on coach travel, but how does that work if they aren't running them?

I take it that you are prepared to take over the running of the coaches then. Dean did a fantastic job in the past and had to put up with people saying they would go then not paying and cancelling or just not bothering to turn up. I had same problem with Truro where people said yes, we booked coach then they did not even have the courtesy to answer emails let alone pay for a seat. Still being a stupid fool I went ahead and and sorted the Gosport coach. That was almost full thanks to a train strike but even then we had no shows but they had paid. Then next quotes were got for Braintree and Dover evening kick offs. Stupid money with coach companies wanting upto £1000 for short trips. Did put out feelers for Braintree and less than 10 people were interested. I decided then that I would no longer waste my time and effort searching round for quotes. From the deafening silence after the WUSA meeting and on here it looks like fans are happy for others to do it but wont step up themselves. And I dont blame them as who really wants the hassle of doing something and being let down by your own fellow fans.

One grain of comfort from the Barnet defeat is that our game at Yeovil Town should take place on the scheduled Saturday, so it will be possible (not easy) to do the trip by public transport. We won't be stranded there on a Tuesday night.

As far as 'who will organise the coaches?' is concerned, I appreciate the difficulties in people messing the organisers about, but if WUSA promote this as a benefit to being a WUSA member, shouldn't someone on the WUSA committee do it? I'm pretty sure that there are WUSA committee members for whom we have voted, who do not have named roles (such as chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer). Shouldn't one of the others 'put their hand up'?

Finally, thank you Polo and Squarevanman for doing this for us in the past. I'm sure that everyone who has used coaches in the past appreciates what has been achieved.

Yes, as Mark and Dave have both stated, Polo's organisational skills were superb. Can't recall one balls-up. No doubt we all have some special memories. Plymouth Argyle, Wrexham & how could we forget... Barwell, to name a few. Hats off to Dave for doing his bit as well.

I have spoken to the WUSA committee and I'm going to look into the possibility of booking Coaches to Yeovil and possibly Maidstone on the Easter Bank Holiday. I want to make it clear that I don't want to be mucked about, as well as what I do already for the club, ive got plenty other stuff going on, im willing to give it a try so people can contact me if they definitely want to go. I'll put up a Yeovil Coach thread very soon

Well done for giving this a go Nigel. I think we will struggle to fill Yeovil as I know some are doing the weekend there and trains are still pretty cheap but its worth a try for sure.
