Wasn't there tonight, so can't moment fully but, so whether we could have or should have the FACT remains we DIDN'T score. I've said before and have been worried about it since the Aveley game, I don't see any goals in our team and I wonder where they will come from. We rarely look capable of scoring more than a single goal at best.
Nothing on either wing, therefore nothing in attack
Had our moments, but looked like we was after a nil nil.
Invited too much pressure in the second half and got our just deserves.
I was happy with the performance tonight. Horrible conditions, but more effort and commitment across the board and we did have chances to score. Gene should have scored in the first minutes, Martell clipped the crossbar, he should have had a penalty, Donkor had a great chance to square it for an almost certain goal and even in the dying seconds Daniel Martin had a great chance that was blocked. Just a bit of composure and a little bit of luck and things will turn around. We also looked more composed at the back and it was definitely one of Rhys's quieter matches, but he still popped up with a couple of excellent saves. My only real gripe tonight was Gene's delivery from set pieces. There must be someone who can cross dead ball better???
Just wanted to thank Mark and club shop Dave for organising the coach last night. It's a great shame that only 19 people ( including me ) went on the coach. Hope we get more people that want to travel to Eastbourne on 5th of November.
I wasnt at the match, but listened intently to Nigel and Gavins excellent Radio Wings commentary, read comments of attendees, read match report, seen Rods interview and seen the highlights, which show lots of positive things, to catch up with the game. It seems fairly evenly matched, the only difference they took a chance, we didnt.
We went into this game conceding 3 or more in 4 of our previous 6 league games, so the switch to 1 up front to stabilise us with an extra player in defence/ midfield paid off as we only conceded 1. It is good we created lots of shooting opportunities, so switching to 1 up front didnt ruin us in attack.
It sounds like Martells lack of accuracy in front of goal or link up play showed again, and we showed more intensity in attack once Elliot and Anointed played the last minutes of the match. Still think we need to stick with their effective attack. Their scorer Mo Faal is one of my favourite NLS players, so not surprised he scored. But once again, like in recent games, they got in a cross that we could have done better in blocking, to a man unmarked in our box who had a free shot.
So weve finally had our game in hand, the table is now equal and we can see where we really are. Its a fairly equal league, 3 or 4 more points and wed be midtable. Success is all relative, we do well for who we are, I was struck by our 539 attendance against Weston, we played Worthing who got over 1136 in a midweek game, beat Torquay who have 1500 season ticket holders, Chatham a division below get 1500, so there's pride in many ways we punch above our weight, yet are still competitive.
Eastbourne at home next, maybe a tight game, as in their 10 games they've scored 12 and conceded 11, so if we defend well maybe another game decided by just one goal.
