First half more of what I'd expected from us and a stringer team. Second was a shadow of the first and like we'd banked on holding on to what we had. Feel Really disappointed.

Refs In this league are a joke I try to be level headed about them and not bias but every week they insist on making something about them whether a red card, a pen, booking a manager, influencing the result etc. Not all to blame for our results recently but have to play them as well as the opposition

Genuinely don't understand how there's even a mention of the ref, we were dreadful that second half and got let off massively with a point, frustrating how rod has left the first half to Kevin then suddenly taken charge in the second half and we started sitting back. Tonbridge without a doubt will be annoyed they didn't get a win tonight

I have to agree that the referee standard has gone down in fans opinions but probally gone up in the opinion of the FA. Pretty sure the FA has told this new bunch of refs not to be lenient as some of them were in the past. If this lot had been around 5 years ago most teams would not be playing as the majority of squads would have been suspended. I cannot believe it but I long for the days of messrs Packman and Scogins to be the men in black. Also why has the FA decided we need a forth official at this level? No idea how much it costs the club but if they are coming a fair distance the expenses could outweigh the pay. I can only think they are there to gain experience of this level before getting promoted to the main job.

For sure we contributed to our demise in that one but will need to see the penalty decision back.

It's the consistency from the officials or rather lack of in this league.  I felt let lots go and then started dishing out yellows for seemingly lesser things.

Our keeper has made an uncharacteristic error and the ref has awarded a very harsh penalty. The red card is ridiculous and we should consider appealing it. Other than that it was a near enough perfect performance. We did tire a bit towards the end and I felt we should have made changes earlier. A point is not the end of the world and we role on to Fridays massive fixture.

It's a blatant penalty and red card, Tonbridge fan had it on video right in front of it

I actually thought we were very good first half and Tonbridge were very good 2nd half. Draw was a fair result.

I thought the way the game was going it would be 2-3 to them. Just glad the ref blew up when they had a corner! They were seething about that and usually the ball is neutral but I'm not even sure that's a rule?

We were good the first half but not so much the second, so 4 points from 2 games is ok.

Decent support from Tonbridge but we need to get more home fans in.

Undoubtedly a red card. No attempt to play the ball and preventing a goalscoring opportunity means it can be a penalty AND a red card for the same offence.

Maybe best to know the rules before berating the referee about that particular decision...??

No way. It's about the spirit of the law as much as the letter. When is the last time a player was shown a red card in the Premier League as well as giving away a penalty? It just doesn't happen any more. He tugs his shirt and the player has a dive. The ref gives it, a soft penalty but then they had a few claims for one. But not a single Tonbridge player appeals for a red card.

One of the reasons we constantly get mugged off with referring decisions is because our crowds are too small and too quiet.

I didn't think the ref was too bad yesterday but that red card is a nonsense.

A penalty yes but a harsh red card as Lovett could have beaten the Tonbridge player to the ball if the latter was not held back.

Shouldnt have pulled his shirt, would have not scored if he kept his hands to himself.
Good call Alex and cannot disagree with the comment regarding the manager either.
His assistants stats speak for themselves.

It is interesting that the fantastic away wins at St. Albans and Slough, and the first half last night have something in common? Each time Kev was the main man in the dugout. Maybe our current crop of players respond better to positive encouragement from the bench than getting slaughtered every time they make the slightest mistake?
Back to last night and watching the highlights, we were unlucky with their first goal as the nick of the wall has caught out our keeper and the penalty was just a silly mistake. I'm not convinced their striker was getting the rebound.
I'm not sure if the recent drop-off in the second half is down to nerves, lack of fitness or simply tactics but it is worrying. However, some of the football we played in the first half was a delight to watch. Just need to replicate that for 90 minutes now.
It will be interesting when Dan Martin comes back because I think this current formation we've found is perfect for him, although Osew has impressed me more as I wasn't convinced on his first few appearances.
Kelly has been excellent (ignoring the penalty) and Josh looks very keen up top. From looking like we'll never score to netting 5 in two games is a nice change, and it could, and probably should, have been more than 5!

The proverbial game of two halves on Tuesday.

We were excellent for half an hour and two well worked goals from good crosses into the box. Lankshear has been very good the last few games and started chipping in with a couple of goals. I wasn't sure about Redfearn but can't argue with two goals in two starts and that was a proper strikers goal on Tuesday night.

Second half was a different story. Of course the Tonbridge manager would have given his team a rocket at half time but we were slow out of the blocks and never got going. We were second to everything and unfortunately Lovett made an error for the first although he has saved us multiple times this season so no criticism for him. Red card looked correct to me and I wonder who is next for a red card this season...?! We looked lethargic and I wonder if there's a lack of fitness in some areas...?? If so it makes bringing the Aveley game forward a even more daft decision...

Big game tomorrow night and they will be buoyed by their big win on Monday. However we look a lot better going forward of late and no reason why we can't go there and get a good result.

Up the Wings!

Tuesday was the old cliche of a game of two halves. Welling played so well in the 1st half and were good value for their 2-0 lead. However good they were in the 1st half they were equally as poor in the 2nd half. Tonbridge deserved to level and get a draw they were so much on top in the 2nd half by the end we were hanging on for the point. Did anyone drug our teams half time tea?

Verdict: It was disappointing to drop a 2 goal lead and it felt like a loss

Successfully and correctly. Kelly would have missed two games (he was sent off when playing for Aveley earlier in the season) so it was a worthwhile appeal.

Agreed, I watched it live and the highlights and thought it was a harsh red, although I am very bias!

Well done to the club for appealing, shame it ruined the match at the time though.
