We had more opportunities than Dorking, BUT as always nobody could put the ball in the net!
But a good effort, it might have been wet, it might have been raining, we might have lost to the top of the table side, by one goal, BUT the match was still entertaining so well done to all.
No matter who gets replaced throughout the game, the end result remains a constant.
Whatever changes we make, make no noticeable difference.
That miss by Bramble in the first half pretty much sums things up.
Certainly seems we are destined for the Isthmian. The buffer has now gone
To be honest, Im shocked weve stayed up as long as we have. Its looked a dead cert a couple times over the last few years at times, particularly before the miracles Rod pulled off last season.
Hopefully Rod can get more out of the squad, but it does seem pretty inevitable that were only heading one way in general, which is a shame.
A far better performance than we served up on Tuesday. Had we played like we did in the first half yesterday at Enfield and Weymouth then our plight right now might not be quite so perilous...
After the early goal I, like most Welling fans, was fearing the worst but our response was very good. On another day the shot off the bar goes in and the sitter before half time simply HAS to go in. Kennedy was the architect of both those chances and he has to play higher up the pitch for me as he looks the most likely to score. The Martin/Walker combination looked dangerous and hopefully that will improve as time goes on provided the former stays fit....
Second half we simply couldn't maintain the same levels. Don't know if it's a fitness thing but we seem incapable of putting in a ninety minute performance just now. I understand substitutions for injuries and to protect a player like Walker coming back from long term injury but we seem to use all five substitutions every week purely because we can...?! Three of the players that came on yesterday are about eight stone soaking wet and on a tough pitch against a strong, experienced side they were never going to make an impression. The manager bangs on about us being weak mentally a lot but we have too many players who look weak physically in my opinion. Second half I don't think we won a second ball anywhere on the pitch...
So the buffer has well and truly disappeared as Enfield have become the Welling United of 2023/24. Still a long way to go and still a lot to play for and I still believe the management team can get a tune out of this squad but it needs to happen soon and it needs to be for ninety minutes on a more consistent basis.
As others have alluded to a much better performance but we need to start scoring goals. Getting one point from a possible nine from teams below us will cost us dearly I think. I am usually optimistic but I am really struggling to find anything to be optimistic about. Teams find it too easy to score against us and we are then on the back foot. Up the Welling.
Lets face it if it wasnt for Sonny Fish and Jason Adigun last season it would have been a different story. We definitely dont have players of that level this season. This squad isnt good enough fact. I watch most games and invariably come away being more impressed by the opposition than our lot. Cant remember us dominating a single game this season even against lower level teams. Looking at the remaining fixtures cant see us picking up more than 10 or 12 points. That wont be enough. Finishing position 22nd I reckon. Where do Hashtag Utd play by the way.

Hashtag play at Parkside along with Hashtag Women, Aveley and Cannons Wood. They also tend to play some games on a Sunday as they did yesterday against Folkestone Invicta.

They may be somewhere else next season, they seem to move regularly.
