Think I saw something tonight that I have not seen for a very long time in a competitive game with Welling. Not a single card picked up. Got to shout out to our fans tonight. Excellent support definitely the 12th man on the pitch. Understand we had a fair few Gills fans in our stand. Its an awful feeling to win something and still feel gloomy - I'm pleased for the fans who went and had something to cheer but who wouldn't swap this cup for 10 points in the league right now? Will be scant consolation when we are playing Isthmian League football next season
I wish we could swap the cup for league points, but it just doesn't work that way. When you start the league back in August, no one says you have a choice on what to win and you start trading competitions. After the performance last night you would like to think we could carry it into league games, but I think it's too late. More of those performances earlier in the season and who knows? Great support again last night and for one night only it was enjoyable.
Yeah I know its not as simple as that, but the issue is that the league status is just so important that this fades into insignificance, apart from perhaps the short lived joy of winning a single game. It feels like a relegated PL team celebrating their U21s winning the Papa Johns Trophy!

I would have felt a lot worse losing last night and facing relegation, so lets enjoy the win for what it is. The new investment coming into the club sounds encouraging.

Last night was compensation for the supporters who have been behind the team through thick and thin this season. They deserved last night more than anyone.
However the fact remains that we have struggled for a number of seasons lately and this season it looks like we will finally fall through the relegation trap door to the lowest level our club has played at in over 40 years...
Thank you to both the Kent FA and Gillingham FC for helping to create a proper Final experience last night. Good facilities for supporters and the Trophy presentation well organised. I'm afraid after attending two Conf South Promotion Finals it puts those occasions to shame- we were treated like animals.

This was a neutral ground. I assume that the games to which you refer were Dartford and Woking where they had home advantage.
