I'd appreciate it if someone in attendance could give some feedback to those of us that can't attend. The question I would ask is "are we going back to training 2 nights a week?".

Any points worth noting from the meeting? Unfortunately I had an operation yesterday so couldn't attend.

Thought it was a good evening and nice for the new Gaffer to be able to address the fans. Lee appeared very positive about the new season and the challenges ahead. Lee asked the supporters to be patient because he's building a new team and it will take a little time for everyone to buy into his style and for the players to gel. He is very keen on playing "good football" and the Club are investing a lot on the pitch to ensure it will help his style of play. Very keen to get the right "characters" into the club, who will play for the badge and willing to put in the hard yards. The squad will hopefully be mixture of a strong spine with young hungry players who want to prove themselves. Brian Statham has left with Lee being supported by Billy Bingham and Shaun Williams. They weren't there but both were spoken of highly and all three have similar ideas about how they want the team to play! The club is working hard to get a goal scorer as they know the importance of goals. Lots of pre-season matches on the cards and hopefully the core of the team will be in place before the first friendly in early July. That's just a bit of a summary, but hope it helps. Already excited to get back and see what Lee and the team can do.

Also, he is very keen on players being a close knit group. Already planned is a team golf day (may not be fun for those who don't play golf) and a team social evening. He also said that no player will be allowed to leave the bar before 6:15 after a Saturday home game.

No players names were announced (I think he said that terms have been agreed with seven so far) but it is likely that there will be no more than two from last season. The first play-off should be on Saturday 5th July if the pitch is ready, and that the majority of the squad will be in place so there won't be countless trialists. He doesn't believe in having loads of them as keeping them dangling.

Thanks for these summaries. Brian left for another role? Seems bizarre he was a seemingly a centre point of the rebuild 2 weeks ago and now gone?

Are Erith & Belvedere contributing to this pitch investment, and the continued grounds upkeep (sharing groundsman costs)? Just using their changing rooms doesn't cost that much!

Thanks for the update. So Statham appointed the manager then left? So what happened to his list of 40 players? Are we just recruiting players based on them being good characters?

No. WUSA paid for the topsoil. Welling are paying a full time groundsman.

Not just on that. That would be extremely silly.

What I found disturbing from last season was all players were invited in for a chat on a specific day. One was unavailable and phoned the manager, 4 turned up the rest didnt. Obviously they knew that they were not good enough for us and did not stand a chance of staying. Total disrespect till the end hope they end up in Kent league Division 2 East.

Perhaps they might want to ask why our manager didn't tie up his deal with Ramsgate a week early and come and watch our last game against Salisbury.

I am sure the manager said last night that he had been to see us play last season. As he made a joke about the ball being in the air so much seagulls flying over head were in danger.

It a shame you couldnt make it Chris.

It is a shame. I have no such philosophys on football- I only care about winning. I don't think Day, Ashby and Frost cared much either when we won the National South on one of the lowest playing budgets ever. Much of that was kick and rush with Roscoe and Guthrie chasing the long ball and winning scraps and then us scoring a ton of goals from set pieces. Steve King's side was similar too albeit with a much larger budget. Dover play direct Football with 3 up top (their manager worked under Chris Kinner) whilst Dartford under Pennock as we know likes to play direct.

If that was a criticism of Rod Stringer then I'm sure a justified come back from Rod would be "Come back and tell me about management when you have won the National South with two seperate clubs!".

"kick and rush...." with a midfield of Day, Clarke and Healy...?!

Not forgetting the best two attacking full backs in the league at the time in Faz and Obersteller!

You must have been watching a completely different team to me back then....?!?!

Yes they were great players. But we actually played better Football in the two seasons before we won the league.

Getting back to the Meet the Manager evening did Howard answer questions? I'd like to know what the club is doing about the Academy from 2026 onwards. If we are launching next summer then they need to get it sorted by September to start recruiting school leavers. Presumably the club will also need to rebuild the whole of our Youth Infrastructure including the Women's and Girls teams.
