Shouldnt we be looking for a goalkeeper?

Say what you like, size matters.

A resolute keeper who can command his 6 yard box relives pressure on a back four who basically have to defend everything.

The Ramsgate keeper tonight was a prime example.

If you have a dominant keeper, then the back four dont always have to ask the question, what if.

Tend to agree with this. Defensively we looked horrendous tonight as well. For all that said I was impressed with Ramsgate the best team Ive seen us play.

Gk has some nice qualities but irrelevant at this level. They had a game plan, get balls over the top, whip them in; keeper doesnt/can't catch or he spills it giving you a shot on goal.

Needs to strengthen at the back. This seems so obvious and without reducing the amount we concede we're reliant on having to out score teams who are putting 2/3/4s against us - not gonna happen.

If it wasnt for the keeper we would have lost by a bigger margin, shocking defending for their first goal, there is no way a keepers kick should bounce twice without a Welling player getting to it. Second goal big deflection. Cant remember the 3rd one and the 4th was a miss hit by the 25, if hed connected with it properly it would have been half way down PVR. Better team won on the night but we weren't helped by Shakpoke getting himself involved in the Cundle incident and subsequent red card. Their 6 should have also been red carded for the tackle on Cundle as should their keeper when Cundle scored.
Once again we had chances but didnt take them before Shakpokes red card.
Question, was Martin red carded? If so why was he allowed to watch the match from the stand barely 3 feet from the dugout? Thought red card meant you had to leave and have no view of the pitch.

I was told this morning Lee got a yellow for something he said followed by a second yellow for being out of the area and sarcasticly clapping referee. Didnt see myself but expect online.

The highlights are up on the Welling web site. Have a watch and see if you still stand by your initial statement.

Agreed. Norman let's far too many saveable shots in, last night he was poor and the canvey blunder Saturday was so poor.

When Slav Huk returns on the 28th and should get a chance, absolute unit and solid experience at this level

Clearly we sent the wrong keeper out on loan. Norman is hardly a midget and similar size keepers have played at the highest level -but he certainly needs some specialist coaching. What's Paul Barron up to these days?
