It's the Stringer effect! Well done to the players after a difficult week.

Much needed result. In Stringer we trust.

Just wondering what has happened with Corey? Rod said he had gone back to QPR but Twitter feed says we've extended his loan?

Rod stringer get this man in permanently!

For those people saying Lee Martin out talk was too early after 3 games, I hope the result and performance today shows you how much better things are with a real manager.

On to Tuesday!

I'll be the first to put my hand up and say, yes cpUTW, you were right.

I was very much of the thought a new man, particularly a rookie, should be given the chance so suggested early doors, applying the unwritten "10 match rule". Agree that after the ten matches, Lee had shown he was clearly not up to the job.

Welcome back Rod, what a difference in his post match comments, he can obviously see where Lee was going wrong. Onward and upward from here?
Fingers crossed.

QPR have decided to recall him. I understand that their relationship was with Lee Martin.

Ah, real shame, was hoping we would have him for a lot longer. Loved watching him play: especially when going forward.

Wish him all the best and would not be surprised to see him becoming a EFL mainstay when he grows!

Fantastic post match interview from Rod. Extremely genuine and honourable bloke. Hope he gets the job at least until the end of the season.
Very comfortable afternoon. Even had chance to take in the aeroplane display.
Although he scored, don't rate that big CF one bit.
Nice to see John play with confidence. My MOTM

I really enjoyed the match yesterday and it feels great to win. Despite the circus of the previous 72 hours, I think we have to park that and just support the team going forward. Despite his flaws, it was great to see Rod back. We have a good group of players here and if we just make things less complicated and let them play then success will come. I can understand Lee's footballing philosophy and can applaud his attempts to build a team playing possession based football but to me it looked like our players were more worried about giving the ball away and were almost afraid to shoot or pass forward and all played within themselves, preferring a square (or backwards) pass. Would Luke have swung that ball over the top for our second goal??
My biggest concern is the squad depth and the loan signings. Corey has obviously gone, which is a huge loss and there was lots of talk about Dobbs being recalled yesterday. He's only a kid, but he's going to be some player. He's brought some stability to a shaky defence, scored a few important goals and even though he's only on loan he gives the impression of wearing his heart on his sleeve for the Wings. Losing him could be catastrophic without a suitable replacement. Similarly, I've enjoyed the energy Zac brings so again, if he's recalled that's another huge loss. He was superb yesterday.
We've got a bit of time now before our next league match so time to settle the ship behind the scenes and if Rod's to stay, he can start to learn more about the players. We could do a lot worse than Rod. His post match interview was excellent and when he is happy and positive, I think he could help unite the club again. Just a bit worried who he'll moan to with no 4th officials in our league! Lol!
Let's get behind the team, give them the support they need and hopefully watch us start to climb the table.

Another good turnout from the Welling faithful and we were duly rewarded with a much improved team performance, overall. No squandered chances, no bad luck hitting the woodwork & no cruel deflections. Clean sheet as well?!

There are some players in this squad who clearly have ability and are capable of pushing us up the table. Having said that, we are in need of a few more players on numbers alone, and, hopefully, with the club's help, our current interim manager might be able to assist in that department.

It was great to see Rod again. Don't chuck away that Vanarama coat!

If the Wings... are United...
