I don't think Carshalton will make 38 points and if we beat Cray Valley next week, neither will they. So, in my projections, 13 points from 12 games (with a win against Cray Valley) will keep us up.
However I'm not convinced we can achieve even that modest points target if we carry on playing like last night. From the 1st minute to the 97th we stood off Carshalton and allowed them to create chances, just as we did against St Albans. With the 5 subs rule it's a better tactic to have forwards who defend from the front, closing down the opposition defenders early and then, if necessary being replaced when tired in the second half.
We are, in a way, worse than under Lee Martin. I dont understand why Maxwell got rid of Paxman and Eze as I dont think the replacements in midfield are any better. We actually have a decent front 3 but they get no service, no balls to feet. The big difference is that we now appear to have a compentant Goalkeeper in Mackenzie.

The kindest thing I can say about last night is that the end justified the means!
It was a very painful watch and thanks to another good goalkeeping performance we managed to hold on for the three points. Lest we forget however that our opponents last night haven't won a league game for over three and a half months...
We have given ourselves an outside chance of survival but will have to play a damn sight better than last night! The balance of the midfield is all wrong and we lose far too many 50/50 tackles during a game. Also we need more options in attack both in creating and taking of chances. I know that means yet more players but, after letting Sach go, we need another option up top
Don't hold out much hope for Saturday (I never do when we play them!) but you never know....
