I can't believe we lost that game at the end, but when you sit back and are clinging on unfortunately you always run the risk of such a goal happening at the end.
I dont want to hear about any sorts of positives. I just want to see points on the board. And they were rightly taken back off Welling because they went one up, sat back, and let themselves get pillaged.
Away support in terms of numbers and noise superb - tick
Drop arguably the best player in the last two games - tick
Compete well in the first half and look half decent for spells - tick
Come out for the second half and don't try and cross the halfway line - tick
Make pointless substitutions which actually make the team weaker rather than stronger - tick
Take all the pace out of the team and retreat even further - tick
Manager bemoans the officials and gets his customary yellow card - tick
Tell the goalkeeper to sit down two or three times to waste time leading to a ridiculous amount of injury time - tick
I expect there are others but that's enough for now. The interview will definitely feature a dig or two at the referee and where he found ten minutes of injury time from. That's Lewes, D******* last weekend and Burgess Hill today where we have lost points in injury time with these negative tactics and I fear it will ultimately lead to another relegation.
Wingnut said "Tell the goalkeeper to sit down two or three times to waste time leading to a ridiculous amount of injury time".
This exactly what I have been thinking, wasn't there today but on 'x' it said Foley was down and needed treatment at least twice. May of course be even more, if he is so injury prone should he even be starting games? This appears to be a trend creeping into the game as it allows the outfield players a break for drinks, and getting instructions from the coaches without the keeper having to go off for the statutory 30 seconds play that others have to serve when a physio is called on.
Last week v Dirtford Foley was "injured" three times, the ref has to come over, enquire why, the physio has to come on, spurious treatment is carried out to Foley's left leg, pitch cleared and game restarts. Keeper restarts game with a long punt using his injured leg/foot? Great work by the physio? Each time at least a two minutes break. If the fourth officials work to my time scales then four points have been lost recently due to that added time alone?
After seven previous attempts the club do now seem to have a decent keeper, but son, these "injury" antics are wearing thin on me.
Same style of play that we were fortunate with against Carshalton, and not so against Dartford and now Burgess Hill.
If you were the opposition you wouldnt worry too much regarding the first 75 mins of any game as you would know Welling will take Troy Howard off, then continue to take players off in regular intervals. They will then defend very deep allowing us to attack their goal at will.
When we score, it will be even easier as they will have no one left on the pitch in an attacking position..
Even mentioned to Ryan not to change the formation, but got waved away.
In fairness, i can be hard work after a beer, so fully understand.
Ryan needs to learn from his mistakes, and fast.
Stubbornness by continuing in this style of play will result in one outcome.
And its not the one us supporters want.
Agree with most of the above, the harsh reality is that we have conceded a potential 5 points in injury time so far, (3 points yesterday, 1 point each against Dartford and Lewes), enough to be out of the relegation by now.
