Summary of U16's Season
Permalink

Not having a website upon which to record a summary of the U16's season I have produced a summary in Word 2003 which is available to any registered user of the forum and any unregistered reader who provides me with an identifiable email address. The document lists the players, the season's results, the final league table, and has a brief summary of the season from manager Ken, and a few words from myself.

If you want a copy, PM me and confirm the email address to which you would like it sent. If you don't have Word but run Windows XP on your PC you can download Microsoft's free Word Viewer at this address. This viewer will allow you to open any Word document up to and including Word 2003 as well as many other text formats.

An update on the team as they move into the U18 league will be posted early next week.

Bruno,

My name is Gary and I'm part of the new youth set up committee. I spoke to "gone fishing" at the launch event.

I'm keen for people to post their issues / questions here regarding the new set up. I will reply asap work permitting.

Just to confirm. We are also keen to establish a reserve team asap, player quality permitting, as such, i see our last year U16's (this years U18's) as a step in that direction. They are with us next year and very welcomed.

Kind regards,

Gary Lisney

Gary

I did PM while you were logged onto the forum but have had no response and I can't let the grass grow under this issue.

I think there may be some confusion here. This is an Unofficial Welling United fans' forum. The purpose of the Youth Teams Forum is to raise the awareness of the youth sides and to enable supporters to pass on news, submit match reports, and comment upon/discuss matters relating to youth sides. Contributions are welcome from all. Any person making enquiries about the newly established Welling United Youth would be referred to the Club by me as I have as yet no details of contacts.

Being an unofficial site, and having been refused permission to place some publicity in the Matchday programme, I very much doubt that the Club would look favourably on your proposal to use the forum in the manner described. Indeed the independence of the forum is paramount and I will not have it eroded by the highjacking of a part of it by an arm of the Club in the way proposed.

I will of course continue to direct any queries to the most relevant contact point I know as I have done for supporters teams trying to make contact with our supporters team and the odd query seeking the web address of the Welling website.

If you would like to draw up a simple message giving contact details I will ensure that it remains at the head of the Youth Team Forum and is therefore available to anyone who happens upon the forum when seeking information about Welling United Youth.

You might also like to contact James who runs the Official website at info@wellingunited.com regarding a Welling United Youth page. I'm sure that being an Official site James would consider this if he has not already laid plans for it. I'm equally sure that he would appreciate some help with such a page and maybe someone could volunteer.

I hope this clarifies the position for you and those reading the website. I'm not trying to be difficult but its a question of horses for courses.

Bruno,

I have read your message several times and I'm still not clear on what your suggesting. I was under the imprssion this was a place everyone interested in Welling youth could gain and ask for information. I'm probably missing something. I can asure you I have no plans to hijack anything. I was trying to be helpful.

I wasn't suggesting I use this forum for anything other than trying to be responsive to people wishing to gain more information. Having found the "Welling united Youth Forum" i thought it would be an appropriate place to let people know there are people who can answer their questions. Well I hope I can anyway.

I can confirm there are plans to include a Youth section on the offical site, which will include contact details.

just to clarify..

I was not posting on here in any offical capacity, I decided to post personally to try and keep people informed. I do not think for one second the club would view this in anything but a positive light.

If you would rather this site was not used for such activities, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Gary.

Gary before this forum brought info/photos and match details of the Youth teams there was no way of getting any details of them at all. It has been built up in an unofficial way and and provided a great service to those seeking news of the youth. Without Bruno's and a few others posts/photos etc the Youths would have got NO publicity whatsoever.

The club (in my opinion) would give you grief if you posted on here . Whereas Bruno can do his reports etc independently and better than the club and provide this valuable service.

PS if the 16s are next seasons 18s... who is this bloke Martin advertising for players for Welling United under 18s in the Newshopper?

If you need clarity from Bruno's post. I read it as the Club have a bad opinion of this forum and have in the past been discriminatory in their backing of projects ... and as such Bruno doesnt want them hijacking the independent forum when it suits them.

I maybe wrong on some points but i am sure Bruno will clarify his stance when he sees your post. As an aside i am disappointed that Welling will not be financially backing Kingsmoor and appear to have just pillaged the set up. In my opinion the club cut corners and act half heartedly. I wish you all the best Gary, i suspect sometimes it will be like banging your head against the wall (If you are committed to the Youth set up and ambitious).

I am positive that the youth section of the forum will flourish and continue to be the best place for people to get the latest news on the colts teams.

Jgfc,

Many thanks for clarifing for me.

Last years U16 (Kent league) team will represent our club at U18 next year in the Kent league. Martin manages our U18 bexley league team and is the one advertising. (This message board has already help clarify something !!!)

I didn't realise that this forum was viewed with indifference by the club. To be honest though, it doesn't matter either. Personally, I see this as an opportunity for us all to work together in order to provide OUR audience with more information when they need it.

I do understand however, that Bruno doesn't want the club trying to influence this sites content. I can assure you, I have no wish to do so either.

As for the funding issue. I have met with Welling on many occasions and can assure you we have total and complete backing of this venture from Welling United FC.

There are many benefits for both parties that do not necessarily mean money. For one, we believe this will certainly encourage more of a community feeling towards the club and hopefully increase attendances. Secondly, in time, we may be able to nurture future potential players, although we are also committed to providing football for all ability ranges.

Simply having the Welling name helps us attract players, our sec will confirm this. I think her phone is pretty much constantly ringing with interest !

Sponsorship for the teams is also easier to attract. I'm confident this partnership will benefit our club for a long time to come.

Regards,

Gary.

Gary

JgFc's clarification is in essence what I meant though I would have said there are people at the club who mistrust forums and would rather that they did not exist and have demonstrated this by their refusal to allow an entry in the matchday programme. I would add that the forum is fan based and independent and as such, within the laws of the land, allows matters to be discussed without restrictions imposed by the Club. There are of course times when any one of us may be given sensitive information in confidence, I have never betrayed such a confidence and posted it on the forum and I have no reason to suspect that anyone else has. Some may call me foolish or naive but I believe that although being unofficial and therefore free of any restraints from the Club this forum can co-exist with it to the benefit of Welling United as a whole.

Between your response to JgFc and our telephone conversation I'm sure that any crossed wires are now straightened and I look forward to news from/about the new Welling United Youth sides appearing on the forum.
