Totally played them off the park. We wanted it more from minute one. Never really threatened. We couldve had 6/7 if we wanted to. One of the great welling away days. Up there with the Tranmere win. Sensational.

We got behind the team from the outset and our lads responded well. We looked dangerous going forward and solid in defence.

The hunger was there today and our fantastic travelling support was in full voice.

We won't forget that game in a hurry.


If the Wings...are United...

Long overdue league win yesterday. In the past we haven't deserved anything, but yesterday we did all day long.

Maxy had them fired up from the start and in the build up to the game during the week but it wasn't just belief, passion etc. - we actually played them off the park. Our wingers were a threat all game and the whole team, including the subs, were excellent. We could have had another 2 or 3 goals.

A lot will be said about their number 5 Tennent who went off injured but less will be said about the build up to the incident. Tennent was constantly fouling Melvin-Lambert that went way beyond the usual jostling you see every game, he had his hands on our players neck, treading on him etc. The ref was missing it all he was watching the corner being taken! Why, when the lino was there? Every ref in the world knows the six yard box has become playground skirmish and if he had seen it and acted earlier then things wouldn't have got out of control. The ref also missed the clash as he was running up the field. Looked a fair challenge to me anyway.

Fantastic performance from the team and a great atomspehere generated by the Welling fans who supported the team throughout the game. We dominated the game and passed the ball around very well all game. Looking forward to the game game v Ramsgate next weekend and Cray away BH Monday. Up the Wings.

To be fair, it look a lot worse challenge than I though it was yesterday. Not losing any sleep over it though.

Where do i start....that was without a dought one of the best results AND performance for a very long time. I'm sure I can also speak for Mark Doig when I say that it was an absolute pleasure to do commentary yesterday afternoon, from the first whistle you could see that Welling was up for it. The better team in the first half and literally tore Dartford to shreds in the second, I thought Lekan Majoyegbe and Zac O'Keefe both playing thier first game's were magnificent but every player to a man was equally magnificent. For me it was impossible to pick a MOTM.

I've seen comment's from Dartford fan's who are obviously disappointed but also said that Welling deserved to win such was the gulf between to two side's.
I also expected Dartford to come back at us in the second half but with Welling getting the second goal early, it seemed to knock the stuffing out of them even more and they never recovered. I lost count of the amount of counter attacks and break aways we had, the amount of space Demaray Anyadike had on the wing was unbelievable, I was told the tactic was to get the ball out to him and for him to just run at them. Well he certainly did that and they couldn't cope.

The supporters were as usual amazing, the noise was constant throughout and the scenes at the end with the management team and the players was fantastic to see. Welling truly are blessed to have such a great travelling support, even when things haven't been great they have been there week after week, I've said it before but they are a credit to Non-League football.

Im not going to get carried away because its still early doors but if we can keep going with performances like that, I think day's like yesterday will hopefully be happening regularly

Oh and as a side note, if anyone would like a programme from yesterday, come and find me as ive 3 spare available

I am confident that if Dartford have inflamed the situation by not just reporting it the way they did in their post match report, but also putting the video up to demonise a Welling player, there should be recourse for their disreputable conduct.

Great performance, great win, best welling day out in years. Fans were brilliant too. As for the challenge, yea he was going in hard, what 100% did not help was instead of carrying on in the direction he was going and launch the ball either up field or out of play like he did every other time he got the ball he decided to attempt a stupid turn on the edge of his own box, therefore dropping his shoulder and head. Goes without saying, but back lambert, he's quality will get important goals this season. For reference, the old Kurt's Guthrie song would suit him nicely or even the Luis cumbers one.
