Hopefully we can get a decent away following on Tuesday to avoid Maldons new manager bounce. I have also seen new players have arrived there to boost their squad. i have just been told seats are available on the supporters coach that leaves the ground at 17.15 You can book by emailing wsg1963admin@gmail.com tickets are £10 or £15 for non members. You can just book a return trip if you go up early or from work by public transport.
Recent form suggests their defence is Titanic-level leaky. Home and away.
Could be a great night in Essex all told.
Beer wise, the Queen's Head, Swan, Carpenters Arms and Blue Boar are open on Tuesdays and aren't terrible; the Mighty Oak Taproom is apparently now open Tuesdays from 4 and there's also the Queen Victoria. Hopefully you all get a chance for a pint before the match.
Tough one that, Maldon worked very hard.
Certainly werent there to roll over and have their tummies tickled.
See them turning things around there.
Maybe wont set the league alight, but showed a lot of desire
Then again, we werent great.
Still another 3pts on the board.
Saturday will be a proper test
I dont really know how this team seems to have so many instances of off days, but today was definitely one. Bad passes that were easily intercepted, excessive dwelling on the ball when they needed to be quick. And to be fair, that referee was diabolical.
Lets hope Steve King gets a wake-up call on Saturday as the Wings march in and obliterate them.
Sometimes those gritty wins are just as satisfying and just as valuable as the huge wins. We needed a proper, hardworking, committed performance away from home and last night we got one.
Maldon were far better than I had expected on the night and we weren't quite at the races but we still dug out the three points. Keeper made one very good save (and a few unorthodox ones!) and the defence put their bodies on the line. Shout out to Jamie Reynolds as well - haven't always been his number one fan but he's a different player this season and he's become a very important member of the squad. I didn't understand all the subs last night and it felt like we made all five because we could although we don't always know the circumstances behind the changes.
Last but not least kudos to the supporters. Our ratio of away fans to home ones is second to none at this level. The attendance was 285 apparently and I reckon near enough half of those were away fans on a Tuesday night with an England game on the telly as well. Great effort by everyone.
Saturday will be a very tough game against a strong outfit with a proven manager with probably one of the biggest budgets in the league and we will need to play better than last night. However the surface will be better and we may get more room to play so hopefully can return with a positive result.
