It will be Conference South matches broadcast live. Not Welling games. Unfortunately despite other clubs welcoming radio (Margate, Wimbledon, Dover etc), The hobbins banned the radio last year after our second home game. They threatened eviction from the ground for anyone providing updates for Radio Wings.
I believe bruno knows more and that one of the reasons given was that it would affect home crowds.
I bought the necessary equipment and servers to broadcast to 200 people at 96kbps in stereo and be able to use it 24 hours a day on a dedicated address. So i could either let it do nothing or use it for other clubs to use. To see how expensive it is have a look at how much people are charging to stream to say 20 people at 24kbps!!
Ive had 6 other clubs including chairman interested and also clubs in other leagues. It looks like i will do games from different clubs this season. Welling may be covered if i have no other commentators but i wont bend over backwards to cover Welling given the way they threatened the two young lads with a ban for providing commentary.
To the fool above who said 12 listeners... We had 79 listening for the Histon away game(The first and only away commentary we did before bans were threatened) . It provided a service. It has been welcomed from other clubs.
It cost about 700 for the server for a year plus another few hundred for the equipment, 800 for a decent laptop to broadcast from home or at the ground. So i spent a few quid to provide a service. The Streaming quality is superb (Gone fishing can vouch for that) Its better than Radio 1s or capital FMs streaming.
I believe dover pay about 200 a month for bandwidth and data transfer to provide their low quality streaming. This high quality broadcasting was provided free by me and cost the club NOTHING
I believe it would have been an asset and looked good for the club, unfortunately in their wisdom not only did they stop it they threatened bans.
Two banned from commentating? assuming this was by mobile phone how could the club have known who was making the calls without some form of device to track this?
I try to keep up with the age that we are in and JGFC is beyond me in this in terms of streaming etc but am I believe that anyone therefore who makes a call from the ground which could be deemed as a commentary or " hello luv yep 1-0 up will be home after I've had a sherbert" is deemed to be transmitting?
BKK I believe the problem is streamed live broadcasting not the odd mobile phone call saying Welling just scored a fifth and that fact being relayed via the web broadcast (after all you can do that by monitoring the web/listening to the radio anyway.) In essence, the National Conference demand a licence to be purchased if there is broadcasting from the ground, the Club were made aware of it and enforced Conference rules.
Without getting bogged down in a history of events in my opinion the Club missed a great opportunity for positive publicity at no cost to them as much because it was a JgFc project as anything else.
JgFc, having dabbled and had some success with budget broadcasting, is going for it big time - professionally produced jingles, dedicated server, plenty of bandwidth etc. and I wish him well with it. I don't have a storage area for sound files or I would have put links to a couple of the Welling United specific jingles which JgFc commissioned and I've had for some months. Perhaps if he broadcasts tonight JgFc could include them and people can then see just how seriously he has taken the project and what could have gone out in Welling's name and not the Conference South or whatever it ends up as.

All sounds a bit harry redknapp to me. Yes I can understand re attendances etc, but away games, say Weston Super Mare mid week, I would like to know how we are getting on if I cant make it
Home games are a bit more of an issue and no doubt a long discussion. If we allow Radio Kent to update why cant we allow genuine wings fans to update on the web or is it more of money is an issue?
As I've got to the end of this why do I feel that I shouldn't have started discussing this in the first place as no doubt that thios will not end here
In the defence of jgfc, it is a good idea, and would be helpful for away games.
However, in the defence of the club, allowing someone who continually criticises the management, hasnt been seen at the ground for many years and hasnt even asked permission to broadcast from PVR, no wonder they banned it.
Im sure if jgfc meet with the owners and asked for permission im sure this could be resolved.
As I've indicated earlier in the thread the issue was a National Conference licence to broadcast. The Club acted as instructed by the Conference, they did not arbitrarily ban the broadcasting.
"Im sure if jgfc meet with the owners and asked for permission im sure this could be resolved."
What did or did not happen between JgFc and the Club is history and somewhat irrelevant as far as the actual broadcasting goes. The resolution is in the purchase of the licence which gives JgFc or whoever approval to broadcast from PVR if they choose to do so.

Seems the club were only acting on advice from the conference. However, I'm sure if a license was bought it would be fine (assuming the club would be ok with it.)
I can sort of understand the concerns about home games, but surely us supporters at this level wouldn't miss a game just because we can listen to it on our PCs?
I attend the majority of games, but there are the odd ones where something crops up, or Newport away on a tuesday night - and to be able to listen would be a godsend.
The licence sdoesnt mention internet only terrestrial.. (Radio kent etc). I believe its balony!! I was emailing the club and conference for clarification. The only comment i got from Moules' office was
"Perhaps Welling think they are doing the right thing by restricting you from broadcasting"
Then MONTHS later i receive a "licence" asking for 250 quid that is sent to terrestrial radio and has NOT one mention of internet. I firmly believe that this was to fob me off.
HOWEVER i am not willing to pay the 250 and get biatch slapped by hobbins in yet another show of discrimination. Which is why ive decided to provide it for iother clubs/fans in the league.
Frankly its a load of b&ll^cks , anyone whos heard it knows it is superb quality and would have had 100-200 fans listening for 90 min coverage of away games and probably 20 for home games, who were skint/ill or listening at work. Midweek and Weekends would have been live broadcast.
I tell you what, lets end all the aggro, would the WSU like to pay the 250 for the licence?? so fans can listen to EVERY WELLING GAME live?? ive only spent over £1800 so far.
