Have we kept most of the 16s from last year? Anyone know the league line up for the kent league? Where will the lads be playing their home games?

I have maintained contact with both Ken of the new U18 KYL side and Gary Lisney, Chairman Welling United Youth throughout the closed season and there are postings in the pipeline.

KYL Leagues and fixtures have been announced and if anyone wants fixture list for U14, U16 or U18 sides (or even all of them) PM me with your email address and I will email them to you (Word documents).

I do not expect to get Bexley and Selkent League information till early September.

It is my intention to carry on as last season and post fixtures on a month to month basis and post results as soon as I have them - maybe some match reports on the U18's but match reporting is not my forte. If anyone goes to a Welling United Youth match and feels like contributing it would be great to hear from you.

Last year's U16 are being strengthened and I believe will be a force to be reckoned with despite being in a very strong League - they will certainly be one of the fittest, if not the fittest, team in the League thanks to Neil's input and their positive response to it.

This season the under 16's are a real force, i refereed them in a friendly match against the bexley league welling united side (basicly kingsmore and they've only kept them on so they get controll of the club) and the kent league under 16's have some real talent certainly players to keep hold of and bring through the system. Most of the players also have been recently relased from bigger academys so they know what the game is about there are promosing signs there, certainly a team to go and watch if you lke to watch youth football.

Looks like things might get interesting when it comes to the 2nd season at U18 level with an abundance of quality players. Maybe we could even see a reserve side with a core of U18 players.

That is certainly what Ken and the U 18's are working towards. I just hope that the club are thinking along the same lines. There are some talented footballers who could progress to the 1st team with the right encouragement and coaching which will benifit everyone.
