Under 16's Bexley League

I recently had a trial with them and after one trial they wanted me. I also had added incentives to join them as I support the club, a free season ticket would be given to me, it's a higher level than what I was playing at last season and that if I did extremly well then there was a chance to go up to the Kent League side under 16's.

Now you must be all thinking I must of jumped at the chance but unfortunatly I'm going to have to turn it down

Reason? Because traveling to training is to much of a nightmare for me or my parents, it's a 30 minute drive from my house to where they will be training soon, getting there by bus/train means a long journey of about an hour and walking a fair distance on top of that.

This is quite upseting for myself because I really want to join them but with my parents in full time work they are unable to give me a lift to and fro and I'm going into my last year at school with GCSE's to lark about with.

So I just wonder why they will be training so far away from Welling, they will be training in Crayford so I feel it's a big loss to me that I can't take up such a wonderful chance!

Something for you lot to read while your bored now aye and laugh at my mis-fortune

I have absolutely no knowledge of the Bexley U16 side but their manager will have had to find somewhere to train based on such matters as availability, the facilities available and the cost of hiring them. It would be nice if the end result was training being held locally in Welling but obviously in this case the end result of the managers search for a place to train resulted in facilities being hired in Crayford.

Just to give an example from another side about which I do have some knowledge last year's U16 KYL side for historical reaspns trained in Beckenham. Players joining the side from this area, and indeed one from Thurrock, travelled to Beckenham each week for training. This season, as you will be aware, they are training with the first team and which reverses the travelling distances for the players and they now have players travelling from places like South Norwood and Croydon to Kidbrooke twice a week.

Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh System of a Wing, but the bottom line is how much do you really want to play for them.

Don't mean to be picky, but last years under16's training for the majority of the time was held at West Wickham with the home games held at Beckenham. Playing at this level, hard to say, does require dedication from both the players, and due to their ages, the parents too!

I think what gives them the added incentive is that it's a much better standard of football, whereas the Bexley league is no where near in comparason (sp) to the Kent League and the Kent League is one of the best Youth Leagues in the country but I do agree with you Bruno, if I wanted it THAT badly then yes I would but after asking others of there opinions I feel it's in my best interests for me to be somewhere more local...

Just think I could of been the new Jamie Turner

Sorry geejay I thought Langley Park was in Beckenham, its postal address certainly is though it does describe itself as halfway between Beckenham and West Wickham High Streets. Shades of Welling - Kent or London?

I agree that having supportive parents is a plus for any boy wanting to play, but from experience I can assure you that there are boys whose parents take very little, if any, interest and it is their determination to play which sees them arrive regularly at training and games.

If you register a username then you could have Private Messaged  the number to System of a Wing.

I would have thought that Marshy would have gone ... Eltham isnt a million miles away, the other thing would have to have posted a request for a lift to training on here, not say oh its too far i cant be bothered. Im pretty sure most teams would say thats fine dont bother. Attitude is a lot in football. When i was playing Darts for England youth... I had to get from Woolwich to Farnborough (Frimley Green), or Woolwich to Tottenham on Sundays. You put into to something and you get a lot out of it.

Marshy stop acting like kevin and perry and give it a go... No one gets handed anything on a plate any more
