Kens Comments:
“We created lots of chances across 90 minutes which is a positive part of today. However, we lacked something across most of the team, which was disappointing, as we often gave Belvedere a lot of time to play and failed to close them down. We gave away a clumsy penalty for the goal, and we will need to be sharper for games coming up.

However, Rishi coming off the bench changed the game for us, and his pace, and general all round play was excellent. Again, our fitness levels paid a huge part scoring four times in the last half hour.

A debut for Matt Steer coming off the bench, and a first start for Reece Parmenter, shows the depth of squad that we have available.

A good 3 points, against a side who played well in patches, and at least tried to play football.”

Despite the result a real curates egg this week.

The first half was a very mixed affair and Welling failed to take control of the game, though as the game progressed they looked the side more likely to. Defensively Welling rode their luck on several occasions and had Belvedere been a bit sharper they may well have been 2 goals up before James scored in the 25th minute.

Welling started the second half well and really took a hold of the game when Rishi came on. The pace of Rishi and Gabriel were a constant threat and kept Welling on top, particularly in the last 20 minutes when Welling’s hold on the game was under threat from the spirited Belvedere side.

Mark Eaton was for me the man of the match.
