I was disappointed to see that last night's programme only contained details of the Bexley League sides October fixtures but made no mention of the those in the Kent Youth and Selkent Leagues. Since there is not another home match until the end of the month how do potential supporters of the Youth set ups senior sides (which those playing in the Kent Youth League must surely be regarded as) get to know about the matches?. I know that Selkent fixtures are not freely available but the Kent Youth sides have their entire season's fixtures freely available.
It is great that some sides have had their fixtures published but surely ALL OF THE SIDES deserve to have both their fixtures and results published in the programme.

Under 18s are THE side surely, the one team at the moment who will be used for the county cups and who train with the first team. Would have thought as they were at Welling before kingsmoor that the 18s would have received the spotlight.
Im disappointed to see that the youth section of the website hasnt been expanded and just has a weak bit about the set up and contact number for a woman. Results, tables, reports etc plus photos would make a nice touch,
As i have stated before do the clubs owners really help the youth set up or want it?
Hopefully Adie and Phil will unearth a few Gems from the 18s. They seem to have spotted at least one already. So keep it up 18s!! You ARE being noticed.

Printing deadlines are very tight for cup replays, and so I only had saturday night to get the programme ready for last night. Liz upton useally writes the youth team pages, but was unavailable at short notice. I therefore copied the only bit of youth news I could find. I was up till 3am getting it ready as it was. If you feel the need to contribute to the youth team pages you are very welcome to!
The KYL and B&DL fixtures were posted on this forum on 27 September and 17 September respectively. I am more than happy for you to cut and paste the information which is placed in the public domain by the Leagues and which I collate and post.
The declared results for ALL TEAMS matches are posted on a Sunday night along with information and comments which I compile on the KYL U18 side's matches. This too is information placed in the public domain by the Leagues which I merely collate.
Anything I post regarding the matches played by the U18 KYL side can be copied but there MUST be a reference to the source.
As you know both James and yourself asked me before the start of the season if I would like to contribute to the website and the programme notes respectively. I posed the question to you would the brothers be happy if I did and I got no response.
I prefer to be able to comment without restriction/censorship on matches I attend and would therefore rather stick to the existing situation.
I know for a fact that Ken the U18 manager gave and article on the history opf his side for publication on the website many weeks ago and it has yet to see the light of day. I prefer to make any information I unearth or compile available to all those with internet access as quickly as is possible.

Well done Bruno, I'm glad you have the time to carry out the great job of informing us of the youth teams.
I don't always get the time you have and that was why the youth team was one page. The editor's notes explained this. As for the info submitted to the website - thats down to James.
Too much to do and too little time. Could cram photo's, wsu, programme, full time job, OU degree study, Family, and social into a week - something had to give!
As anyone who visits the forum fairly regularly will know one of my hobby horses is the lack of a reserve side and the value of having an organised youth set up and as such I am perhaps more sensitive than most where these matters sides are concerned. I believe very strongly that the youth set up should be embraced and nurtured by the Club and that if we cannot instil in them a sense of being part of Welling United we are very likely to lose the best players to other clubs.
On the face of it we have 2 very good senior KYL sides which I believe could well produce the core of a future reserve side yet we are over a month into their season and I believe that there is very little awareness of them outside of the players and their families and the WUFF youth section forum.
During the summer I reached an understanding with Gary Lisney about the results and fixtures service I hoped to provide and, since I support the U18's, with Ken Brooke on my U18 match comments. I can and have met that which I undertook to do in respect of Welling United Youth, however, I do question what is being done outside of this.
My initial comments were simply a matter of highlighting what I see as one of the shortcomings in the Club's approach to and their commitment to Welling United Youth and were not aimed specifically - after all you as the proramme editor as you can only publish that which you are given or as was the case with this weeks programme having to produce information personally at short notice.
