I would like to question why someone making a posting for a Club run event has to remain anonymous. If this forum requires so much cross and garlic protection why use it.
Let me make it clear I am more than happy for club run events to be posted but am getting just a bit tired of anonymous postings.

I think your right. Whilst I have never been a great supporter of anon. postings as I have felt that if you have an opinion or disagree with someone you should be man enough to say who you are-would you disagree with someone at a meeting/work without intorducing yourself?
The bile that is spat here sometimes lies primarily behind anon. postings. I think the time has come to maybe think about registration only. Whilst that may stop the flow of traffic I would prefer that to the amount of people who seem to stand behind a cloud.
If the postings from anonymous people are way out of order then fair do`s.We however do not have sufficiant postings so the anon bit helps all read items and some to be fair are very good.I am anon and have not as yet I think spoken rubbish and sometimes some reasoned debate.Other football web sites that have been registered just become a conversation area for a small group and that frankly is obviously boring.
Anon I tend to your point of view which is why the forum has not gone registration only despite the occasional headaches which sometimes what are in my opinion organised anonymous strikes cause.
I can see and understand BKK's point of view but I want to keep the forum as accessible as it can be to try and encourage posts. We do get anonymous posts and made up identities and a percentage of those are malevolent but on balance they do not outweigh anonymous posters adding to the debate.
Mark X or is it Mr Fenton or perhaps scooby, the old nickname/known as debate raises its head. For whatever reason the use of names other than your registered birth name has gone on since time immemorial Charlie White becomes Chalky, Billy Smith becomes Smudger etc. and sometimes names are acquired through something one has done or is known for.
In cases like Mark X, White Sox, JgFc, BKK, and even bruno it is not an attempt to hide identity it is just the name used on the various football forums and anyone regularly using them or attending PVR is well aware of who the posters are. An exception to this practice is Russ who has always used his name on the forums.
There are of course some who assume identities for malevolent purposes and back them up with impossible to trace email addresses like Harvey.
The point being made was that someone was advertising a Club event yet for whatever reason they did so anonymously - perhaps they didn't want to be associated with the forum. Its not as if it was a 'deep throat' post where the individual posting wants to remain anonymous because of what they are posting and they don't have the courage of their convictions to post as a known identity.
One thing that can be said for this forum is that good or bad the majority of posters do so under a known identity. Some may not like or may disagree with what the regular known posters say on the forum on occasion but they are the views they hold and they see no need to hide behind the mask of anonymity.

Yes you have a point, but at least if Bruno or an admin wished to track me for whatever reason then I can be tracked under a name? eg for previous postings I am not technical enough for ISP's etc. For the same to happen and track an anon the task would be nigh on impossible.
Perhaps someone else could bring forward the benefits of registration, indeed if thats the case why did you register yourself?
I have no axe to grind with anyone within the club, WSU or anyone else but I believe that you do the sponsor the goal scheme and a great job you do too. If you are a member of the WSU and other people from the organisation have posted on here some, (based on the evidence of what I see) post under an anon. I do however have nothing to support that other than what I see perhaps Tom or Bruno can back that up
To be fair Jgfc is hardly anonymous, neither is Exec Lounge Bertie, Spitey, Moo, BGB, White Socks, Spud, Bruno, Crouchy has said who he is too. SOAW has done similar. MarkX is known as Mark, Danson Mark is known too. Court Jester and Thomas the Tank are known also. Some use real names, Peter Mason for instance. MOST people who use made up forum names are known and as such you can take that as the persons opinion. People like Harvey or Wings Brain are just names made up to stir and abuse. There is a huge difference is a stealthed forum name and one that people are known by.
