GAME ON SATURDAY DUE TO FA AFTER WORCHESTER COMPLAINED Kick off at Park View Road is at 2pm. If the teams draw on Saturday, any replay would take place at Worcester on Monday, February 5, kick-off 7.45pm.
The Welling United v Worcester City 3 round tie has had to be brought forward to 2 pm kick on Saturday of due to flood light problems at Welling’s Park View Road Stadium caused by recent bad weather.
Next round date: There was some initial confusion over the date of the game as Welling United wanted to switch the game to Sunday 4th because the team they ground share with Erith & Belvedere, had a home league game scheduled for Saturday 3rd Feb. The FA have stepped in and resolved the situation.
Worcester City have today been in touch with the FA to clarify the situation and City Chairman Dave Boddy has confirmed that following contact with the Football Association this morning, the F.A. Trophy 3rd round cup game between Welling United and Worcester City will be played this coming Saturday 3/02/2007, kick off 2 pm.
Saying The FA stepped is misleading, they were invited in by the Worcester City Chairman at 10.10 last night.
The Welling side of the story very quickly appeared on the Kentish Mercury's website and reads
"Wings Trophy tie brought forward
by Matthew Panting
Welling United v Worcester City
WELLING'S FA Trophy third round tie has been switched to this Saturday, following a ruling by the Football Association.
The game had been due to take place on Sunday because Erith & Belvedere were meant to be hosting Hythe in the Kent League Premier Division on Saturday.
Welling claimed that Worcester's secretary agreed to the game taking place on Sunday after the Wings' second round replay with Tamworth concluded on Tuesday night. But that was denied by Worcester - and their chairman successfully appealed to the FA on Wednesday morning to switch the game.
Welling secretary Barrie Hobbins said: "We've been told that we have to play it on the Saturday now."
It means that Erith's game at home to Hythe has been postponed.
Kick off at Park View Road is at 2pm. If the teams draw on Saturday, any replay would take place at Worcester on Monday, February 5, kick-off 7.45pm."

See this is where it gets confusing, as Welling (and Tamworth) would have had to call Worcester when the draw was initially made to make arrangements for the fixture (including advising Worcester of a 2.00pm kick off) and also to confirm the replay arrangements - this is in the FA Trophy rules that I read today. So how come Worcester and the FA were both unaware of this game being Sunday at 2.00 and not Saturday at 2.00?? A call must have taken place, as Welling were fully aware that a replay would take place on the Monday at 7.45pm before the Tamworth tie had been finally decided.
I doubt that the FA Trophy Rules site has been hit as often as it was between 9am and 11am this morning. What a bunch of closet barrack room lawyers many of us are
The simple answer is that when the call was made it was anticipated that E&B would agree to postpone or move their match to Sunday. They wouldn't - result mass hysteria - disputes at club and fan level - The FA are involved and E&B match is postponed thereby enabling us to meet on SATURDAY 3rd at 2PM when both sides wanted to play the match anyway.
Can we now put the matter to bed?
May the best team, whichever that may be, move forward into the Quarter Finals on 24 February ,hopefully by 3.45ish on Saturday.

As some City fans have pointed out, we've always tended to well against Welling. But that counts for zero come Saturday.
Who have you beaten in the FAT so far this year? Apart from Tamworth, obviously. We started off with an away trip to Blyth, which was drawn 1-1, and then we beat them on penalties back at our place. That was followed by a 5-3 win at Barrow on a Monday night (getting used to these long trips, you'll note). Then we beat Burton 2-1 at our place, before being drawn against yourselves.
JGFC was talking about Jai Stanley but he left us a couple of months back. But we've still got probably two players (Danny Mac in goal, and Webby upfront) from when we last played you, otherwise major changes to the squad when Andy Preece took over from John Barton as manager a couple of years ago.
I wonder whether you had the chance to have us watched against Hinckley or at Blyth last Saturday?
And what did that acheive? When yo beat us we won the league by 23 points!! when you beat us did you win the league?? NO
So what have you gained from previous wins?? NOTHING
As it stands you have won ONE of 4 away games??? recently? Welling are top of the league and you are tenth, Welling are at home. I will tell you now welling will be 4/6 minimum with the bookies
People are aware ive had two monster bets on welling this year both won... . i posted them in advance...
I will be having £1200 on Welling to beat Worcester on Saturday, because they will. Top of the league, at home and your gobby knobs of fans and silly chairman have got our back up. (just need to wait and see if keds has stayed or shot his agent)
Expect a backlash when Welling knock you out, to my mind you are all a bunch of ar/seholes at worcester given the ATTITUDE youve all displayed on the forums.
I hope all the players read this and it fires them up.
Grudge match and its a match you will be sent home with your tails between your legs with "Sweet FA" .

I wish JGFC had posted his last message before I'd started to add mine. But maybe not: why should I think his obnoxious attitude and comments are representative of all Wings' fans? I'm prepared to presume that the majority are as decent a bunch as most other fans are at this level.
Pre Tamworth we had Dorchester Home 3-0 then Basingstoke Town HOME 0-0 and we won the replay at their place 2-0.
Keds has 5 goals in the competition so far and is due to deliver again but our real strength lies in the heart of the side - they would walk over burning hot embers for a team mate none of this mickey moneybags and I'll only perform when I feel like it players at PVR.

Sounds perfectly reasonable explanation to me Bruno, I'm sure Welling felt that the game would take any precedence over the E&B league game, and therefore made the arrangements for the Saturday. As you say, I personally think both teams wanted this to be a Saturday match anyway, so both teams are happy, as are the supporters of both teams too I'm sure - with the exception of jgfc who seems to want to have the game on the Sunday. I hope for a replay on Monday night, but a City win at PVR would do me just fine.
