I understand that tonights squad will have a significant number of youth players as was the case in the 1st round against Cray Wanderers with nine of the KYL U18's being included in the squad.

Looking forward to our trip tonight. The Stones should hopefully bring about 100 fans with them. We are also playing squad players with 4 reserves also in the 16, should make for a good exciting end to end match with both teams more worried about their respective league campaigns!
Mark Yesterday you said "as with all of these tinpot cups put out the kids - ensure non of our first team squad AT ALL gets injured and get knocked out ASAP
It is an irrelevent venture"
Well it appears you've got your wish in that the first team are being protected for the greater goal of the push for promotion and you are still not happy.
As I and many others suspected it would be, a stategic decision has been made by the Club in just the same way as it was last year. Common sense in my view.
Maidstone too have to consider their greater goal of the League title and are not sending their full first team squad if the posts on their forum are correct - though it appears that Lee Shearer is expecting to play.
I imagine Ade will use players needing to get matches under their belt in case they are needed during the hectic month ahead and presumably Hyde will be between the sticks as he has been in the vast majority of County Cup matches.

1-1 latest... i hope we beat them, look at this from one of their fans...
Weakened side my arse - they're a conf-south side, so I'm guessing that their youth/reserve set-up is pretty strong. Sounds like they're just making sure that the excuses for losing are in place before we beat them
LOL WE HAVE NO RESERVE TEAM and an under 18s and under 16s LMAO
Team tonight was: Paul Hyde Danny Alders (U16) Jack Badu (U18 year 1) Mark Eaton (U18 year 1) Chris Dunphy (U18 year 1) Louis Dean (U16) Keith Rowland (capt) Ian Brooke (U18 year 1) Dan Badu (U18 year 2) Andrew Sam Gabriel Odunaike (U18 year 2)
Subs: Rishi Nankani (U18 year 1) on for Sam 1st half Ed Willoughby (U18 year 1) on for Dunphy 2nd half Chris Padfield (Under 18 year 1) Ellis Green on for Dean 2nd half Stuart Clarke
Well done to all of the players for providing an entertaining match in sub zero conditions.
Spoke to Ade post match and he was pleased with the performance of the youth players. He also said that he hoped the fans understood that the reason for fielding a largely youth side was that we have a hectic schedule coming up in the next month and with a squad of 17 he could not risk any players getting a knock.

I have never been so cold watching a football match in my life as last night. Was impressed by many of the youngsters. Nice to see Ellis come off the bench, so hopefully he is near a first team return, we need his pace and width. Also was impressed by the VCD pitch and facilities, first time I have been there since the redevelopment
As the Manager of the under 18's it was a really good experience for the lads from both my side and the under 16's to be involved last night. Being invited into the dressing room by Ady myself always teaches me something new that I hadn't thought of before, and to hear Ady's enthusiasm and encouragement from start to finish last night for the boys and the support of Hydey, Keith, Andrew and Ellis, it is easy to see why the first team are doing so well.
You can understand why players want to play for Ade as he is straight down the middle and you know where you stand with him always. All the youngsters can only benefit in the long term from being involved last night, and must want more surely?
All the kit set out (!), towels to shower with (!), a physio to rub away all the aches and pains (!) it is never like that on a Sunday guys!
As Ady has said there is plenty of potential and we are all working hard to make sure that in the future that potential is turned into something positive that Welling United will have in the future. Thanks to the fans who came along yesterday on what was a bitterly cold evening and hopefully you will being seeing more of the lads in the future. Well done also to Dan and Louis from the 16's who played really well and I am sure enhanced their reputations! Cheers. Ken

The pitch looked nice, but I walked on it after the game and it wasn't what met the eye! Hard and very bumpy and that wasn't because of the stud holes! Now the Hot Chocolate with cream was to die for!
