I wasn't terribly impressed by Dartford's lights - there seemed to be dark spots in the corners. The rest of the ground, although a bit clinical, was excellent - apart from the seating area which seemed a mite low for a "grandstand" view. The bar was good though! Good beer on proper handpumps. Just shows what a sympathetic council can do for their town's football club - unlike Bexley council, whether it is Tory or Labour controlled, they do B all for the Wings. Perhaps the council will surprise us by coughing up for some floodlights for the Borough's leading club (they do own the ground) - and there goes a flying pig!

I was at a meeting on Friday and spoke to a councillor and raised the floodlight issue, particularily what were they doing about helping the club and the responsibilities of a freeholder. he did not have a clue but suggested I wrote.
Frankly I see the council doing nothing, I mentioned Dartford and Kent in helping Dover. Rest assured though if we do make the sucess that the club is seeking this year Bexley coucil will be the first to jump on the gravy train.
1) If the club is forced to borrow money to fund the lights, as seems likely, could a number of us do something like a 1000 quid interest free loan (no pound sign on an Austria keyboard!) repayable in 12/24/36 months or if there are no floodlights of the required standard by the start of next season (as a safeguard to it being spent elsewhere)?
2) I believe that there are still funds in the WUISA account at last public utterance. Now I am not a member anymore and I don't know at this stage who still is (if any) but would this not be a suitable cause to use that money on? Can anyone update on this and shed any light on who to approach if this is a possibility.
Just my thoughts. Off for a celebratory beer in the Maria Theresa brewery in Innsbruck
How about another 10 year season ticket offer say for around £1500, even if only 10 people bought one that would still raise around £15000 with very little match day money lost.
Between the WUISA and the WSU theres probably not far off 10k (4k ish last time i heard in WUISA) add that to the 20k plus for trophy/cup add the 8k fund raised thus far... i was told by a WSU person that there was around 5k in the kitty after they gave Adie a couple of grand. so that 5k must have swelled considerably, and although the WSU was formed after the wpc/friends of welling with the main announced aim of covering the road end, the lights are far more important. Does anyone know how much has been raised and donated to the club since the formation of the WPC/WSU?
However Staff i would say this, The WSU are the fund raising arm and are rumoured to have a few grand stashed away. The WSU is a current association, And has anyone in that organisiation given the club the money (It hasnt a membership to vote on it)
Marshy , what have you heard then??
If people want to contact terry who is secretary of the wuisa then try terry@pvr.co.uk
Let us know what you hear back.

Mark i agree but that doesnt mean the WUISA just throws money where the club told them to stick it up their........
Lets find out what the WSU have in the coffers and how much theyve given to the club in the last few seasons. As if its not enough then clearly something needs to be done about getting an associatopn together that will be effective.
As for the all together bit i do mostly agree, but their are issues and at the moment things are not working imo.

I will not tread the line with people who i feel are not good at doing what they think they can. I think its time for the WSU to die on its sword and have a fresh start next season with a PROPER supporters association and if that radically means that Barrie or Steve Pain are on the associations committee to hear the fans views and also put the clubs views then thats fine. But the WSU were clearly not as ffective enough or supported by anywhere near the majority.
So yes lets get together and all using the same bat but lets do it a fresh and under no self elected group.

i don't think it really matters if it's the WSU, WUISA, an official supporters club or the red hand gang, we won't really drum up the support required to fund something like floodlights.
What we need is a decent commercial/pr/marketing department to target local businesses.
If, in the future, we got an increased average home attendance then perhaps a supporters club would get the support to fund larger projects?
With regard to various comments made whilst I have been on the p*ss.
1) I agree about the commercial department bit but am realistic to enough to know that that won't happen in the time frame here
2) That being the case one has to look at other options. If you are paying 5% for a loan that is £50 a year for every £1000. Which is 5 bodies through the gate, which is 1% of our average gate. One would hope the maths would make enough sense and it is a realistic supporter based option as I am not in a position to GIVE £1000 (and I suspect others aren't either) although the admin may be more than a straight bank loan.
3) With regard to the WUISA, what it does with its funds are its business. I am merely suggesting that any remaining members may like to pose the question, which I am sure could be processed in the appropriate way according to its constitution. Past comment could then be taken into consideration by its decision making process I am sure along with the apparent necessity to fund the lights. After all, from my past association with it, I believe the idea was that the members decided which way the association went.
Should there however be no remaining members due to lapsed subscriptions on behalf of all then I would suggest it puts it into an interesting constitutional position. I am quite prepared to wait a few extra days to see if anyone has a comment from WUISA and then, should no one have comment, I shall have a chat with Mr Grant. And if there is no comment it may well suggest the latter is the case....
