WTF IS GOING ON??

Sorry, slag me off if you want but this is no EFFING way to run a football club.

So Mark.. all we be ok and its standard to not have players on contract? Adie will be signing them when we know what league we are in?

Is anyone else thinking WTF is going on?? We will get the players Adie would have released and the best players will go. EFFING shambles!!

Oh and good luck Daisy, Cant say i blame you. What does this say about the club?

SERIOUS.... Up around the play offs, etc etc and then we have no players on contract, the management leave and probably the 2 best players walk out...

Lets not let this descend into abuse but everybodys views are welcome.

Well.... What a right royal f@** up.  It seems Grays value the merits of Kedwell Day more than Welling do.  The club is now becoming a laughing stock. Three weeks ago it was announced that Adie was leaving. The club probably knew well before that.  Yet its now mid May and we have no Manager. Other clubs will now be alerted by Grays actions and start cherry picking whats left of last years squad.  Perks, Leon, JT, Ellis, Bruce will be next no doubt. Some clubs die because they overspend and get out of their depth. Welling is dying on its feet because of lack of interest by the management.  When Adie took over it was said he was appointed to put the club back where it belonged The top tier of the pyramid.  Not much chance of that now.

Dont be conned by Adies pleasentries when he left. Look deeper and ask why have Phil Handford and Jamie Day walked out after an on the face of it decent season with plenty to build on.

Keds fair enough, we all knew he wanted to move on to full time. But We should have had Adie and Daisy and the players on contract then if they did go we would have got ample payment. How do you replace players better than Connie South such as Daisy, Keds, Bods when you dont put them on contract!!

Who is to blame??

I don't believe that the club did know that Ade was about to leave. He claims he was only appraoched by Stoke on the Sunday before he left. That said it was three weeks ago and with a massive interst in the job, we should have appointed before. I know at least one of the people, and probabaly more, are applying for the AFC Dons job - we don't want to lose out on the best managers as well as players.

I don't think we could stop Daisey leaving. We can't compete with full time and the money on offer at Grays. Still sad though, I thought he and Keds were differeent class last season.

I hold on to the fact that we were very late in signing players last Summer and we were all in a panic and we didn't do too badly - however we did have a footabll genius managing us - now there is nobody.

I think some people assume the club can just cherry pick who signs a contract. If players contracts are up at the end of the season and that player knows he has a chance to play at a higher level then why on earth would they sign a contract? It might well get the club a fee but it would also deter some clubs from buying the player. Keds, Daisy and AP have all done well for the club and have the chance to enhance their careers. You can't blame them for that - or Welling. If we start to lose good players to clubs at the same level then I'd be a bit alarmed.

To say Jamie Day walked out (jgfc) is a bit over the top. He's gone to a club above us with full time football (and they didn't look too bad a side when they played us). Phil Handford is a different matter as whoever comes in will want their own number 2. Don't think he had any choice really.

Gary you need to remember something here...

NONE of the players are on contract, Thats NONE!

Its not a case of the best players not signing. Of course right near the end of a contract they wont sign BUT you dont ask them at the end of the contract!!

So you believe its ok that other clubs can come in and just take who they think can play at a higher level? Also that the club is performing well off the pitch, i could list it all but i wont.

Read what daisie said just now "Grays, a club going in the right direction" add to that management and players leaving and not being tied down on contract, 3 budget decreases, no floodlights, a month without a manager, no first team squad.

AND STOP MAKING EXCUSES PEOPLE!! Fck me have you all been hypnotised or do you juust all accept whats happening consistently

Excellent Post Gary

Sense at last - I agree if it was the case that players were going to clubs of a similar level then that would be alarming - This is not the case.

Players at this level do not sign or get offered long contracts for two reasons

Whoops

1.They dont want to tie themselves down
2.The clubs don't want players on long contracts that turn out to be of not the required standard

New man in charge this week so lets see what that brings BEFORE we criticise

Although I feel that there are certain messages already written to deflate him before he even starts

Anyone manager worth their salt wouldn't be worrying what is said on forums such as this where fans are able to express their views.  They would be saying I am confident that I can take Welling places and that's what I'm going to do.  Their primary concern would be whether they think the budget is sufficient to enable them to achieve their goal.

EXCELLENT POST BOLLOX MARK!! You just blindly back the owner, slate anyone who criticises with facts and go quiet when questioned and come out when someone else supports the club!!!

1 We have earned 200k in cups over budget in 2 years and taken 60k plus off the charlton games. WITHOUT ANY COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES/SPONSORSHIPS/GATE RECIPTS FOR LEAGUE ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC
2 we have reduced budget 3 times (INCLUDING when in play offs with 6 games left!!)
3 We lost one night at the training ground from not paying for it and owing a big 4 figure fee!!
4 We lost out on Lawrie Wilson cos barrie never renewed the loan!!! and then his club thought forget it!!
5 We sold john guest for MONEY!!
6 We are saving 300 PLUS a week since the worcester game.......
7 The club are doing FK ALL for the youth set up and **** ****** is clueless!! And Something MASSIVE happened with one of ****'s Teams i have heard.. you will have to ask him!!!!
8 The club pushed all the games back to last 2 months to sabotage the play off attempt!!
9 The club refused to pay £100 a week expenses for an INTERNATIONAL player to come in on loan!!!
10 WE HAVE NO EFFING PLAYERS or EFFING MANAGER
staff and players have left, Paul Pettet because the club "isnt run properly" Ditto G MCHP, Daisy then says Grays are going in the right direction!! Phil Handford walks out!! There is more to come TRUST ME!!!!
11 WE have the usual suspects saying "It will all be ok Dont worry we have it under control" While watching the club being run ABYSMALLY ," Corner cutting, co/ck ups, sabotaging, under performing, unprofessional, unsuccessful, parasite,
12 heres my list of who will be manager as people have already turned down barrie as hes reduced the budget!!! (LMFAO!)

Gary Lisney Or some equally under qualified yes man Evens
Keith Rowland or Ex Player 5/4

NOTHING AGAINST KEITH WHATSOEVER!!! But him appointed would be confirmation that a yes man not qualified is employed to under perform (IE not good enough to get us promotion)

Anyone with experience managing at this level 33/1

Andy Ford 1000/1
Ian MacDonald 1000/1

There hasnt been one update about the players on the site whove signed for next season.
Players are being snapped up, we will get left overs.

How any fans can be happy with the situation is beyond me.

We are 6 weeks from pre season with NO players or manager after challenging for the play offs!! What does that tell you?

I will refrain from posting until the squad and manager is known. this will speak volumes. Expect the vast majority of new players to be from the ryman or kent league.

We didnt even Advertise the Manager position FFS !!! Thats really ambitious isnt it Mark? The Club doesnt want a good Manager who can challenge for promotion. It wants someone who will keep the team in this league or the one below on a tiny budget and not rock the boat.

WELL if the new manager is reading this, dont bother unless you will ask for a reserve team, a training facility, administration to be correct, a reasonable budget and an increase if things are going well or you have an injury crisis and talk to the previous management and players before accepting!!!

So you believe its ok that other clubs can come in and just take who they think can play at a higher level?

Yes - the football transfer system has been working like that for years. Clubs just don't take - they pay money if they have to.

When we signed keds, We didnt just walk in and sign him, he was on a contract at herne bay and he cost money,.

He only cost money because he was under contract. We might have had to pay a tribunal fee under the bosman rule if he wasn't. Is your point here about getting players under contracts much earlier in the season? Don't forget how many players won't sign and how many we might not want on a contract. I wouldn't offer some of the players over recent years long contracts and I'd also be wary about paying players who sit in the stands (injuries or not good enough). Keds has known for many months someone is likely to sign him - he wouldn't have signed a contract back then. Why other players arent on a contract - who knows. Can't say I'm that bothered as I can't see many big bids coming in and I'm sure the new manager will want his own players.

"Grays, a club going in the right direction"
I don't think he meant this as a dig at Welling. Of course they're going in the right direction though. The club are full time, they've signed good players and they're in the conference. Mind you any player who signs for a new club say things like that.

Fck me have you all been hypnotised or do you juust all accept whats happening consistently

I think most fans know the situation could be much better at pvr but I don't think it's that desperate

I know Guest went for money - that's why we're planning a new 5,000 seater stand at the road end.

LOL Good post Gary

Its the acceptance of the situation and everything is fine and the clubs owner can do know wrong by SOME fans that makes me livid!! there are clearly a hell of a lot of things a club at this level should be doing better!

I do believe we should have players on contract earlier in the season, And yes Clubs at the moment can just come in and take our players and not pay a penny. How do we replace them of the same quality when the budgets are constantly slashed and we get no transfer fee.

As for the road end, I am glad the main objective for the WSU is to be completed then, splendid news at last.

I would feel better if just a tiny bit of ambition was shown by the owner (and some of the fans that think he is God )

Who is doing Grahams Work at the Club? For the last 6 months things seem to have got a lot worse, Is it time for Barrie to hold his hands up and get out and put the Club up for sale in the appropriate places?

I am fully happy for people with different views to address the points and discuss while giving well thought out reasons like Gary H has above. People just saying all will be ok havent got a scooby!!

Lets have some news on the official site for who is currently signed for Next Season. My own opinion is if Andy Ford isnt the new Manager then Welling will be favourites for relegation. It is vital that an experienced proven Manager is appointed. And Fordy has said he wants it. Give it to him!

I'm no expert - but we have made money from cup runs - but I doubt it as high as 200k and any cash we do generate would have to go into running the club ie players wages plus many more things - look at the floodlight situation - if we had been spending too much that is the sort of incident that could bankrupt a club paying for the repairs if we had been spending a massive amount of cash on things like transfers

And unfortunately we don't get big attendences so don't get much cash from that - I just agree need more marketing of the club to make money that way - and we just need roofs over the terracing so that more noise would be generated

JGFC,

I'm not sure I agree with your comment that the games were put back in order to sabotage our play-off attempt.  I also don't agree that we have earned enough from our cup runs to have put more back into the club.  I very much doubt that Welling have made much, if any, profit during the last few years.

However, I'm as concerned as you are about the current situation.  Losing your manager, assistant manager and two best players since the end of the season does not bode well, but Welling have been in situations like this before and bounced back.

I'm yet to be convinced that all is going to be okay.  I hope the rumours are true that we'll have a new manager in place this week.  The decent players will all have signed for other clubs if we don't get our manager in place very soon.

On a slightly different note, anyone know the latest on the floodlight situation?

I thought it was, but JGFCs responce about it being good news got me puzzled and wondering how the buses would get past with a 5,00 seater stand at that end of the ground - if it had been the Park end I wouldn't have supsected a thing!!

A couple of points

I started the thread on 'ambition' to try and find out whether we in general had any. I'm not going to comment on Barrie, enough has been said, but I got the general feeling that people either couldn't be bothered to/didn't want to have the debate or were happy with their own level of input.
It is immensely hypocritical for people to tell Barrie to raise his ambition level if the majority of the club's support don't want to increase their level of contibution (I exclude JgFc from as he is one person and creates too much heat and light obscuring the issues sometimes). If the club are to go forward effort is required from ALL sources. I get the feeling the majority of us are prepared to sit back and do nothing or ride on the back of someone else's monied ego trip if a person with deep pockets materialised. That's bloody lazy too as well as dangerous. As to the reasons why people don't want to do more, do we ever address them?

Secondly, the point about us not doing too badly this season despite making up the team at a late date. Look at the players we still had left to add to last year, they are precisely the quality ones we will not have left to add incoming ones to this year.

Whoever is appointed may stiff or may do an absolutely first class job. The rest of the world will not wait for us and it should be recognised that whoever takes on the challenge is being given a handicap, some of which is becoming more avoidable as time moves on (unless he is the charismatic and successful sort who can bring most of his former players, if of the right standard, with him).

We all hope it will be got right but it is not unreasonable to state that, at this point, most of our expectations are based on hope as their seems nothing more scientific to go on.

I'd like to say I'm looking forward to next season but i'm not - I fear catastrophe as there is NO ambition. What's the point in bothering to play if going up would not be a good thing? How is this as every other bloody team in the world seem to want to win their league/get promoted? Welling is self destructing from within and then they will all be wondering why the gates are down (what happened to the days of 8/900 plus?) and bemoaning the fans getting on the teams backs.

A load of bulls**t I'm afraid

JGFC - I would suggest you check very carefully your source of rumours, and their credibility.  You stupidly listen to rumour, passed on by people with quite frankly, no idea, to others who load you with amunition which like a good boy you fire.  These will subsequently make you look rather silly.

The new manager appointment will confirm this very shortly.  Watch this space..........

I believe it is a tradition, an old charter, or something to point out that amunition may not fire as well as ammunition.

No. As I was merely following the tried and tested formula on this forum and from the phrasing you can probably work out a certain degree of jest. Or is parody not a permissible concept either in the narrow world of Welling United?

You will also note that when I am asked a question I respond to it with a reasoned answer, unlike a lot of others on here.

And as you ask, history is normally a very good judge of people's assertions. It would be erroneous to say that everything JgFc has published over the past few seasons has been correct, it would also be erroneous to say it has all been wrong. However, you could probably bracket him with just about every mainstream newspaper football reporter in last few years in that respect and people still buy newspapers and most clubs still deal with them! If it is defamatory, they sue.

I realise that managerial/player negotiations cannot be held in public and thus they are not going to be spread all over the media but there appears to be a lack of appreciation at this club that we no longer live in the printed media age. Everything moves faster, there is more demand for information and if NO information is forthcoming, a vacuum is left. Nature abhors a vacuum so someone fills it, and it will probably be someone not on your agenda (or mine)filling it.
Much as some of us would like to go back to an earlier age, it ain't going to happen. So we all have to live with it (you may say we shouldn't and I can have that debate separately if you like).
I invite you to compare us with other clubs of similar standing in the media\PR respect and ask whether we compare favourably or not, which is not an unrealistic comparison to make.

I also invite you to give a reasoned and logical response to the above but I suspect that you will take up neither of these invitations....

Stafford

PS When are we going to get a spell checker built into these web pages???!

JGFC or Tom,

Perhaps you could explain the 2 points you try and make below?

Even better, give me a call on 07730054216 and actually gain some facts before spouting off...

I accept you have a right to your opinion but to be honest, im getting more than a little pissed with your attitude towards me. You dont know me at all, we have never meet or even spoken and you have no idea of my football experience or qualifications. Despite being advised otherwise, I have choosen to judge you for myself and not just believe what others have said in the past regarding your negative attitude, unfortunately you have not been able to extend me the same level of respect.

I would also suggest you follow the advice offered below regarding your source of information. As normal, you seem to have some facts but not all of them.

I suspect the blanked out name in point 7 refers to me also.

I would remind you that this club now has 18 youth teams (compared to 2 last season) and only this last weekend we held our first invitational competition at the ground. Largely run and organised by only 6 people. Myself, Jim Dean and Liz Upton all of us supported tirelessly by our partners.....all unpaid....

We done it for the benefit of the club. With approx 400 kids getting the opportunity to play on the pitch. Who knows, some of these may become our supporters of the future.

"something MASSIVE happened at the weekend with xxxxx teams".....

You really should explain yourself better!!!! the crosses dont help!

Finally,
I have previously stated on this forum, resulting from a previous posting of yours, that I have absolutely no intention of standing for the managers job. Someone with experience at this level is required. Perhaps you should read some of the replies to your own posts more often.

I expect an apology is very unlikely, however, I would suggest you either pick up the phone (reverse the charges if necessary!) or clarify your information before commenting on me in future.

I have one final request. You seem up for fundraising. I have one idea you havent thought of before (rare I know)

How about you donate £1 for every post you put on here. And £10 for everyone thats either insulting, inaccurate, or just plain wrong?
Forget new floodlights.....We could build a whole new f..king stadium ready for next season.

Please do pick up the phone...

Gary Lisney....

7 The club are doing FK ALL for the youth set up and **** ****** is clueless!! And Something MASSIVE happened with one of ****'s Teams i have heard.. you will have to ask him!!!!

i didnt include you or liz or jim when saying the club are doing f all for the youth teams, i meant they are not supporting you. Are the club paying for Kits, Are the parents having to pay for training or registration, Did those 400 kids all get season tickets as it said they would when the WUFC Youth made an opening statement?

Could you tell me what is happening to the Under 18s and 16s next season, are they being run the same? With the same "Staff" In Charge?

Have you been approached to run a reserves in the Capital league?

What i do Know about you i aint impressed, You are in charge of the 16s and administration? My mole at a certain association tells me that there were some issues with the 16s and I know why Would you care to elaborate? And you wonder why i would prefer qualified successful people involved. i also dont feel your heart is at Welling and the fact you have worked for other teams this year isnt in Wellings best interests either.

HUGE HUGE kudos for doing it for love!! BUT thats why this club wins FK ALL and never progresses!! We need qualified people, who can make things happen. If you fance a pint i'll meet up with you or you can call me on 07915 267 279
