I would advise anyone who wants to go to get a ticket ASAP by Phoning the club 020 8301 1196, Charlton appear to be up for this and taking over the park view end (road end) , this from one of their blogs/sites www.addickted.net (If any of the gang from addickted reads this say hello we don't bite (We just beat premiership teams in friendlies *wink* )
I would think that West Ham are bringing a fair team down too as Curbs has always looked after us. And our website doesn't mention West Ham X1 . Im going to buy/rent/commandere one of the flats at the road end as i aint missing this one, if when i was 6 and hadn't drawn in felt tip on the lounge wall...i wouldn't have been sent to bed and then an hour later REWARDED for being "harshly treated "by my first trip to PVR, If it hadn't have been Welling and the old wooden seats ,it would have been the Hammers (and 30 years of hurt at Upton Park instead), who are my league team... i digress, a nice piece below ... again from addickted.net "Operation Park View" - They dont like it up 'em
Its only four weeks away, and it has to be third time lucky right?
Scunny at home it is then. Not the most glamorous tie in the world granted but we'll take it. It's only a couple of months away as well, although, the first game of the campaign is less than four weeks away.
Charlton make the short trip to Park View Road to take on Welling United in the traditional curtain raiser. Although this year seems more important than previous meetings because we need to show the team that the fans have not moved an inch despite our relegation.
Dubbed, Operation Park View' members of the addickted.net forum are getting together and planning an invasion on Welling in aid to help the team as much as possible to right last years wrong. Welling clinched a shock 1-0 win over the then-premiership-club as Dowie fielded a very weak side which infuriated both sets of fans.
This looks set to change this year as Welling have apparently been, promised' a strong Charlton side to take to the hallow Park View turf to make up for last years fiasco.
A strong side and a good backing from the addicks fans can only result in one thing, a winning start to the campaign and third time lucky in terms of the Operations.
Members of the forum have decided to all stand in the Park View End, as this is more compact and should be easy to generate a bit of noise and a decent atmosphere. So far, almost 30 names have been put down to attend, not including the countless counterparts they will be bringing along.
The Operation is really starting to grow as more and more people are putting their names down so it may be advisable to get your tickets before the match, although this tie vary rarely sells out. You can purchase them from Park View Road, not The Valley, from 9.30-5pm on weekdays and 10-12 on Saturdays. Tickets are a cheap £10 for adults and £6 for concessions, with an extra £2 if you require seating, but this shouldn't be necessary if you join the Operation in the Park End Stand.
