Ashley Sestanovich as we are all probably aware was jailed for 8 years for his part in an armed robbery in which a man was killed. Grays Athletic (for whom he made 1 pre season friendly appearance) have been ordered by the FA to pay him 5 months wages for terminating his contact prior to his conviction.
When Sestanovich was arrested he told the club he was being held on remand for a motoring offence. Grays terminated his contract with the appropriate notice when they discovered the full detailsafter having sought the advice of the Football Conference .
Despite the Club using the standard FA Players Contract Grays were held be in breech of it because it did not cover disclosure of information, something they are now looking into so that other clubs don't find themselves in the same situation.
What about bringing the game, the FA and the Club into disrepute or as probably was the situation failure to comply with the terms of his contract. Oh silly me I forgot he's a convicted criminal and therefore special rules apply.
