i know tony quite well , and he was nowhere near full fitness when he arrived from chelmsford and had quite a scare with the illness as well. he has now moved to a club nearer home .so you decide wether he was takin the mick or not, but remember this .it was your club that signed an unfit player(and they knew that as well), so i think you should asking your management team this question .not the player.
He still took the wages and left at the end of the season. IF he had anything about him he would have said cheers guys now lets have a proper crack this season.
You may know him, BUT Ian Cousins missed a lot of the season, and Didnt take his wages!!
Sorry , and i do hope he gets over an illness if he has one but he hasnt exactly given Welling a fair crack or earned his wages or any respect from the fans.

you must live in cloud cookoo land, tony makes his living from football. he was not put on this earth , to bail out a club in financial ruin, if the club didnt have the money to honour the contract they shouldnt have offered it.
perhaps he went to stamford because he knew he wouldnt be playing at welling next season. or the fact that the bloke who took him to welling isnt there anymore. or he just wanted to move neare home. before some of your so called juvinille supporters wish people harm , they should get their facts right
if you want players to play for nothing at welling ,then i hope you like watching your team in county football, because with that attitude thats where they will end up.
good luck for next season because you are gonna nead it
i never said he wasnt payed, you said he shouldnt have taken money ,that was rightlly his.
your club signed a contract with a player that said from day one he wasnt fit. that makes your club , either stupid, or just gambling on the future. i would like to think the latter one is true , if not then you in deep doo doo. they took a gamble ,it didnt work out.
now you want your money back.(get real)
football is a mercenary game ,its about time you realised this
and im not tony by the way just someone putting the record straight
He wasnt match fit.. The reason he never played subsequently was he TOLD the club that he had a heart problem. Now too my knowledge the club have never received anything to prove this was the case.
He may have been entitled to keep his money, what i am saying is others in the past have not done so and certainly not ran off at the end of the season after taking off of the club. I am also saying he shouldnt be surprised if people think he was taking the P out of the club and fans and he shouldnt be expecting bouquets of flowers, our best wishes and a testimonial!!
But you can only see it from his side. If it was said he had a heart condition and you suggest this is SO, then he is in breach of his contract for not saying it before hand. MATCH FITNESS and heart condition are totally seperate.
Very best Wishes to tone, he will no doubt get 3 or 4 goals from 12 appearances this year in the pub league. Forgive me for not saying thanks for all youve done for Welling.

As I recall, Tony did the same when playing a 20-minute cameo for Gravesend... signed, picked up some wages, then limped out with a career-ending injury.
Lo and behold a little while later he was at Kings Lynn and then Grays.
