Latest ive heard is Welling 0 Addicks 1 (Varney)  , At keast it doesnt look like we will get battered. Anyone whos come back can you fill us in with players for Welling and style of performance etc. Who looked good, who looked iffy, did they look fit? Any gems unveiled by Smudger? How good are the floodlights?

2-0 full time.

Chris Dickson scored the second on 83 mins. Charltons other team beat Tooting 5-0 tonight.

I thought that we would get battered tonight, fair play to the team, our number 7 looked pretty handy. One thing that i will say is that i thought the team looked pretty small as in height wise but it is early days, im not as worried as i was before the game now for the season but time will tell.

Mooro played? Who else from last year? And any decent new faces?

Did Blackman look like a striker? And Andy martin is that the guy from Potters Bar?

Difficult one to comment on.
Didn't recognise a lot of the Wings team apart from JT, mooro, harps, sam, carpenter, and des (may have been others there but they were the ones that i recognised).

Most important thing is we didn't disgrace ourselves in front of a strong Charlton team and a 90% Charlton crowd.

We were well organised and gave them little time on the ball (would suit the Conference South). A bit light weight up front but Sam was up against Diawara who bossed the back line.

No Ellis, to be honest he played 30+ games for us last year and scored 3 goals (according to WIE) if he wants to go, good luck to him, pretty sure another player can come in and take his place.

Don't think we can judge the players on this game, it's a money maker. After the Folkestone, Ebbsfleet and Maldon games we'll have a better idea on the squad.

If anyone could post a list of who played for us tonight that would be great!

Ooooooooooh we had some guy called "Mouko" no other name lol, must be brazilian who skinned a few addicks players, Sonny Ball is back at the Wings :) and played... Adam Cotteril, Ex Charlton youngster, Chris May ex hastings keeper... Rob Gier a right back ,who has played with Smudger before at woking and been with MK Dons, Cambridge United and Rushed in and Signed 'em. Andy martin WHO I THINK is ex hornchurch and welsh under 19 striker.

So some pedigree, i must say this mouko bloke is interesting....

Welling 1st half: Turner, Cotterill, Ryan, Carpenter, Gier, Young, Mouko, Grad, Sam, Blackman, Johnson.

2nd half: C May, Solomon, Sinclair, Moore, S May, Mouko (Smith 83), Boateng, Keiver, Ball, Harper, Martin.

Some of the above may be wrong but im sure Paul Green will investigate it. Especially this Mouko fella!! Bring back the brazillian away kit...

Great attendance and atmosphere.

Have to agree that it wouldn't be fair to judge on this one game but the 2 players who stood out for me were Robbie Ryan and Mouko. We offered very little in terms of a threat on goal and there was nobody to pick up Daisy's mantle though Carpenter did his best but he hasn't got Daisy's engine.

I don't think Charlton ever got out of first gear. Jody Morris and Diawara stood out, Chris Dickson played well and Josh Wright and Harry Arter from the academy side more than held their own in the midfield when they came on.

The next couple of games should provide a better measure of the side.

I'm told that Mouko is a mate of Leon's.

I hope we hang on to him, he looked very good last night and played longer than any of the others. We certainly won't miss Ellis if we can sign Mouko.

Good luck to Ellis; especially with the travelling. He can't drive and mid-week games are going to be a pain for him. Eastleigh must have thrown a load of money at him to persuade him to go down there.

I thought it was a good solid performance last night. In a short space of time Neil has got a good side together. Well done.

For my two penny's worth - I thought Des Boatang did well. Not sure what went wrong for the second goal- total lack of understanding between 3 players who haven't played together before. Overall I think we did well. We certainly weren't disgraced. Althought we looked light weight up front we created chances - should have equalised before they got the 2nd.

I thought bringing on a vitually new side for the second half was a good idea - meant that we didn't tire.

Agree with above postings - can't tell much when playing against full time Championship players - we'll know more in 10 days time and should start to see some shape to the side.

Good start for Neil.

jgfc - I thought you were allowed into the ground. Bit worrying if you are barred. Would have been nice to have been told before they took your money for the ticket.

Hi guys, really enjoyed my visit to PVR last night. First time for a couple seasons and was quite impressed.

Think you've got alot of positives to take from the game... you held a full Championship side up until first half injury time, and despite making radical changes at the break, only lost by two goals to nil.

Regarding players, I thought ex-Angel Jamie Turner did very well, made an excellent point blank save from Todorov midway through the first half. Maybe could've done a bit better for the opening goal though? Cotterill will do a job for you in Conf South (sorry, still old school i'm afraid!). Robbie Ryan looked solid enough, Carpenter still looks good despite his age and Gier did well to contain both Todorov and Varney. Very impressed with Des Boateng, looked very calm when he came on and Steve Harper (another ex-Angel!) worked his socks off up front.

Notice a couple of trialists appeared second half, the May brothers, Chris (goalkeeper) and Steve (defender). Both played for Brighton and were loaned out to clubs in the Ryman Prem. Chris played for Ramsgate, Folkestone and Hastings and was solid enough, will be a good back-up keeper to have. Steve had a trial at Colchester shortly after being on loan at Tonbridge season before last and again will be a good addition to your squad I feel.

Good luck for the season ahead. Got a feeling you'll be towards the top end of the table once more.

Chel and Spuddie

I never went. But rest assured JgFc will be returning this season.... Dont think Rivs is coming back, we are down the queue at the moment i think and he should have a club sorted this week.

And i reckon the chant for Mouko should be

Moooooou-ko ,mooo-ooooooooouko as in Hey Ya by outkast

NEIL PLEASE SIGN A STRIKER MATE. Harps is better out wide and Blackman couldnt score in a brothel.

Someone LIKE.....

Paul Vines at Tooting, A club like tooting wont demand or get a big fee. Hes 23 and smashed 41 goals last year. PLEASE get a striker to play alongside Andrew Sam and not someone whose scored 2 goals last season!!

Sorry for the delay in getting this up but I wasn't able to get hold of Neil until quite late yesterday and then ended up trying to find out more about this Mouko guy.
I was initially told by someone he may have played for Beckenham last season but I drew a blank with my contacts there, so I'm still none the wiser.

Mouko sounds interesting. At least Neil has offered a deal and the fact he is friends with Leon could help in getting him to sign.

I do get the impression people are using us to get fit . Ellis Green, Andy Martin, Rob Grier and whilst i recognise that a lot of people are looking for clubs it doesnt help us if they just play or train and then trott off somewhere else days later.

Hopefully rather than offering contracts, Neil will start getting strong with them and saying this is dragging on , heres the deal i can offer. Sign or go so i have time to bring in others.

I see Steve Harper has been offered a deal. Im not sure a goal every 5 6 7 or 8 games is what we need.

IF we get the kid from Millwall that could work out ok but we need someone Neil can be confident on getting at least 15 in the league. The quicker Neil locks down people to sign then he can fill the gaps. I would imagine a few different faces will be appearing over the next few games. Luke Howell at rightback and Paul vines would do very nicely.

It must be difficult for players - we had over 20 out there on Wednesday plus the management team who can play. There are many still playing for contracts - I guess if some-one comes in and offers you a definite contract, compared with the uncertainty at Welling, you may well take it.
