Lets hope neils on a contract then If we go up and he goes higher then we will have good ties with a senior club for friendlies and loan players etc. Im feeling positive just worried about the goals, we probably mostly feel the same. I would like to have it conformed with have the under 24s on contract so if they tapped up we benefit financially.
As a Welling fan that has seen them in southern league and conference , I hope our main aim is to regain conference status and stay there , this should bring in better players and more funds. We need to show ambition but can we afford to go full time and compete at a higher level.
14 or so full time players added to a youth academy tie in with a local college is the way forward for clubs struggling to go full time. It might provide a back door for those kids released from a league club.
You are still talking about a rise in budget but the 3 or 4 players you are short of a full squad could be from the academy or loan players. A full time club could get a no pay loan from a league club. Plus going full time would make you look serious and could attract sponsors and advertisers. Theres no way We can go full time with 20 players anytime soon so we have to look at alternatives.
Hopefully neil can start shaping the youth Set up..up as at the moment its two bob and we just lost a decent crop through sillyness and treating them crap.
I am a firm believer of bringing the youth through the ranks. Surely there must be kids out there of the stature of Kedwell up front, Bodkin on the flanks or another Jamie Day? We need these type of players to come through and link up with the senior squad. I'm hoping that if Neil gets involved, then this might happen.
